Draven Axes Completely Pointless After 25-30 Min. I just did the math. Its hilarious. Fuck my main
Ive come to the conclusion that the only time dravens axes really matter is at 8-15 minutes. Hes not an early game adc. He doesn't do significantly more dmg lvl one. He might do more dmg than say vayne, but not nearly as much as MF or Lucian or graves. Hes the weakest lane bully in bot lane until after BFS and still hes not the strongest with just that item after he does get it.
After getting BFS AND vamp he is great for ab 10 minutes and he out dmgs a lot of adc's but not all. What he does do is out life steal them in lane and so over time he will get a kill, provided the jungler doesn't intervene. Over the next 10-20 minutes of the game the axes become less and less beneficial and more of a hindrance bc the axes don't crit and they are the key to your AS steroid while also making it hard to stay in one position and deliver autos at maximum dps.
This is the proper crit based auto attack reliant adc build, period:

I can justify this since I feel like taking the time. The only good deviation is to replace RFC or SS with another zeal item (assuming you don't need LW really really early). What you will not do is replace a zeal with an earlier ER. That is false. It is better build order on draven than anyone else that primarily auto attacks, but its not better than the zeal item (zeal item straight up gives more dmg and is cheeper by 1k gold). The only reason you would buy ER second or third item is if you just liked seeing bigger numbers on the screen. You wont kill anyone faster. It will take more time but with fewer autos. And you will move more slowly as well.
Now, after IE alone the spinning axes do 150 dmg per axe. If you score a crit that's 30% of your dmg. Since you are building two attack speed items in a row and that takes a long time, these axes basically give you 300 dmg every two seconds until around the 30th minute. By the time you get your third item, your spinning axes feel only slightly bigger than your regular autos and are much more interspersed with regular autos in between. Yes, you still want to keep your axes up but its NOT important because of the ad steroid you get from them. Its because of your W, blood rush, and its AS steroid and MS steroid refresh.
Once you pick up another dmg item, your axes go to about 200 dmg. That's 400 dmg every two seconds and probably about 800 dmg in a teamfight if you catch every axe (that's equal to a single crit man). Your crit will be 100% at this time and your crits will do around 800 dmg without the axes. With the axes they do about 1000. So the axes are about a 20% ad steroid rather than the 85% ad steroid the tool tip suggests on the ability might suggest. And like I said, if catching your axe means you do even one fewer auto attack then you shouldn't catch the axe. Because your dps just decreased by a lot and your burst increased by only 20%
Now, lucian gets more of an ad steroid from his passive because it crits (making it a better ad steroid) for basically free. Draven needs to catch axes Lucian doesn't. He also has a better movespeed steroid, plus a dash, and his ult is just better all around. ADDITIONALY! Jhin is going to be critting for more than draven ever could (He maxes out at around 13k right now) and Jhin will get a longer lasting ms boost that is larger in magnitude as well that he doesn't have to micromanage any axes to get or spend mana to activate.
I'm not really making a point about balance (ill just get flamed). I'm just observing that draven axes arent really good for him as a champion after a certain point in the game and that he wont be the hardest hitting adc any more after jhin is released even though he is easily the most mentally taxing adc to play. I think he is going to loose some of his identity (which already he lost because of the bleed and btw does anyone know why he doesn't proc deathfire touch with his q?).
You can flame me for this if you like. I think the only way draven spinning axes will legitimately be a good tool for draven to use late game will be like this. He needs to be able to two shot any squishy in the game if he has both axes up, and he needs to be able to do this with the above build order because otherwise his dps is crippled for the majority of the game. His axes need to look something like the jinx q as steroid and they need to be allowed to crit. Let them scale with his champion lvl and ability lvl so that he doesn't come out of the lane critting for 1k dmg, but his q scales better with crit somehow.
If you wanted to take him the other way, the only way he becomes an actual lane bully is if his base range is increased. As of right now, hes just a stick of dynamite for ab less than 10 minutes after he gets bfs and vamp (which take ab 10 min themselves to get) and then a wet blanket for the rest of the game. So like, is that supposed to be who Draven is? A 10 minute window for snowballing on an average range, non-scaling, non-hypercarry adc, who depends on his duo lane partner for a lot of things? I don't think adc snowballing is enough in the meta right now unless its mf, graves, Lucian or jinx who gets snowballed. Jinx outscales draven, Lucian is safer, bullies him, and probably outscales him, mf bullies him and makes a stronger teamcomp, and graves belongs in the JG. Draven is really playable right now, but not in a good spot imo. The only reason you play him is bc the fancy dancy q entertains you while you cs.
instead of
is nice on him too
