Shield duration for supports

A good example of shields done right is Zarya of Overwatch. Having played the game before, one thing I took a liking to is how her shields work. League has a problem of carries being far too safe, and part of it is shields. More often than not, Nami and Soraka are not complained about as much as Janna and Lulu. That's because healing usually has a huge mana cost for its "permanent health return" where as shields do not, because they are temporary. But some shields last four or more seconds. Janna's E lasts 5 seconds and gives scaling AD, and Lulu's lasts 6, having a 100% uptime with 40% cooldown.

In Overwatch, Zarya can shield an ally or herself for I believe 400 health, but it only lasts for 1.5 or 2 seconds. Not even going into how her shields charge her damage, a good Zarya and a bad one are night a day. The skill expression is massive for supporting like this. A Lulu can just spam shield on a carry and when they see Zed damage the shield, press R. Making shields have a short timer like Riven's E increase the akill demand while maintaining the supports savior power. Reduce shield duration on some supports.

Well its been over a year now since people have discussed the hot topic of the shielding problem. Riot has done nothing and every response seems to be baseless excuses and playing the victim card. The playerbase reserves every right to point out incompetency when its seen in such a clear form and even though the community is full of posts such as this one to provide and brainstorm ideas on how to fix this problem, if the ones in power dont want to fix it then theres nothing we can do.
