Member Berries; Worse Gameplay State of League TL;DR

Radiant Wukong··17 votes·6,933 views

Sword of the Divine - this is the most toxic item to ever exist in League. If you don't know what this is, google it. I assure you it's a reason we'll never seen another item like this is in League in a single item. It's a mix between Hail of Blades and Stormrazor. Imagine that shit on Kled, Gnar or Xin Zhao!

If you don't remember Olaf and Warwick being the 2 most OP champs in the game, you haven't seen this game in it's worse state. This was partially due to Executioner's Calling being removed from the game for like 2 fucking years! I'm tilted just thinking about it.

If you never had to deal with instant Q Darius with full ult cd at lvl 6 or Sion dealing 100% true damage while having a point and click 2 second stun, you haven't experienced an oppressive top lane.

If you've never been mid lane against 700 range blink with 15% damage amplification and 1 second silence Talon, you haven't experienced an oppressive mid lane.

There was a time when Kassadin had the highest ban rate for most of a season. He could instantly spam R back to back (no CD) and it had more range.

Assassins used to assassin faster than what they do now. Literally 100 - 0 your ADCs with a .5 second keyboard smash, Kassadin and Akali being two of the biggest offenders.

Will of the Ancients + Spell Vamp Quints = Infinite Sustain on any mage. Especially Mordekaiser and Vlad!

Tank Ekko

Lifesteal Riven with RH & BT

The Blood Thirster marksman years.

TL;DR You're either a new player or forgot how far League has come if you think this is the worse state it's ever been in.

I've been there since s3, and tbh the worst I can remember were

Full AP Sion (pre-rework) Akali with Sword of the occult + Mejai Akali Fizz Ekko tank Any fighter with item 3071 x5 (can't really remember when it was) Oh and I miss Zephyr WoA mage were good and not broken tho

And I can tell, this current meta is way worse than what it used to be

Radiant Wukong2 votes

Full AP Sion? I'm actually unfamiliar with that one. Youtube, here I come!

Death by Glamour1 votes

Stun into shield bomb... was good vs leblanc tho.

You had to win lane hard though

Yeah was super unfair. He had a targetted 2sec stun from level 1 and dealt insane damage, his shield was almost the same as the one he got now

Permastun Sion.

Old School Poppy was bonkers too. Her ult was only one person on the team can do damage to her and Poppy gets a damage boost against them.

AP Yi was always a surprise when it went off. He was a hybrid damage dealer back then.

Rumble's Ult used to have an obnoxious range and did its initial damage instantly and began burning them right away. I got my first pentakill with Rumble as the enemy team dove my tower top.

The game is very different now than it was then and I don't think it's a fair comparison to compare anything from before the great ping update (they moved to Chicago). Cause from that point on the way they designed and thought about things changed. Before that 225 pings were common (that's what I learned to play on) and the instadead game we have now was there, but mobility creep hadn't happened yet so there was always time to react even if you had to predict the future a little.

Radiant Wukong1 votes

Yeah, there was always window to react before you were instagibbed barring Shaco Kassadin Talon Nocturne

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

Pfft that's not even all of what Poppy ult did. Poppy was also immune to all forms of CC besides whoever she ulted and even if they wanted to fight back it didn't matter because Poppy's old passive was the worst designed ability in the entire game. It was honestly stronger than her ult since it was basically always 50% damage reduction since you went glass cannon. Imagine PERMANENT 50% damage reduction on someone like Yi or Jax.

League of Cleavers. Followed shortly by League of Warmogs

Okay, but almost all of those things you just listed are a few offenders abusing the meta. Right now we have entire classes of champions shitstomping games, along with entire classes of champions being entirely fucking useless. With a 10 ban system, I would take any of those metas over what we have now.

Radiant Wukong1 votes

No, we have an entire class of champions able to abuse broken items.

CytheGuy1 votes

.... Who are shitstomping games. I fail to see how you're disproving my points.

Radiant Wukong1 votes

Why is everybody on the boards always competitive and confrontational. I'm not disproving you or disagreeing with you. I'm not your enemy, calm down. #cynical

I play since preseason 1, and i would happily go back to all the things you mentioned. Game has gone to shits evers since S5, and while there have been many improvements since the early days, half of them have been destroyed within the last years and MANY issues have been added. The current state of the game is the worst we ever had, and i said the same in s6 and S7, but things just get worse...

Radiant Wukong1 votes

I'm partial on it. While some game states are 10x better, I still would never want certain champs in my game (the aforementioned Darius, Talon, Shaco)

Sire Hippington1 votes

i honestly prefer faceing any of them over new GP, Azir, Zoe or camille, or orn or manny of the other new designs. The new designs are just so obnoxious at high mmr as they have 10x nore tools for everything than old darius and co if you actually can play them, which results on haveing alot less options against them. Darius and Talon where mostly snowballing their lane, and if you played it save(which wasn't to hard given how straight forward and predictable they were) you'd outscale them easily which actually was a valid thing back in the day, since playing save and stalling for late was quite functional.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

Except you can still do that now against those champions and it is arguably easier. Yet people still feed Talon when he is overall much weaker now than he was before (W can easily be dodged and he can't buy Brutalizer which was arguably one of the best items in the game while having 24 ArP from runes/masteries).

League of Black cleaver. Literally every single AD champion running boots + 5 BC.

Been playing since the end of S1/Start of S2. And the most cancerous thing in the history of league of legends can be summarized in two words.

  • Dodge Stat
Radiant Wukong1 votes

I started in S2, the only person that had dodge at the time was Shaco, but I could imagine how OP it was. Of course Jax always had his counter strike,w hich was only melee champ that could deal with release Darius.

GigglesO2 votes

I actually enjoyed dodge and then getting SotD and killing the enemy instantly because they were too dumb to have actual defense. That and mages still easily killed them.

Tokogawaruf2 votes

I witnessed and endoured a lot of shit but in all honestly im at my breaking point of quitting LoL since Season 8.

Its like the Devs want to kill their Game as hard as possible for the Western World but since we refuse they just increase the pressure

All of your examples are mostly just OP champions with ADCs in general thrown in as a class specific case. I'd argue there aren't as many outliers in today's meta in terms of champion power (although there are OP champions in every meta) , but the underlying systems (which affect laning power vs scaling, snowballing, player agency and game length and I could go on) have never been in a poorer state which is more worrying to me.

Basically summed up more or less what i was gonna post. Wie systemic issues wireless prevalent back in the day. it was more about fixing problematic outliers and interactions than anything.

Leto GT1 votes

Ap sion please... It was a pure troll build that was not even viable. Talon was shit and barely played. Kassadin had more time to scale but he's still oneshoting ppl as much right now. Darius wasn't played that much after a few weeks because permaganked. He's much more oppressive now with his sustain. WW was only op in bronze, he's much stronger now. I don't know where you claims come from honestly.

My Waifu Vanilla2 votes

Oh yes please tell me warwick was only OP in bronze when red smite first came out. Please tell me how Warwick doing 700 mixed damage level 6 with just a skirmishers sabre was "only op in bronze". I'd love to hear it. There is a reason Red Smite got hotfix nerfed. Also, before that Warwick was also one of the main reasons Feral Flare kept getting hit. It's weird how he and shyvana ruined more jungle items than ezreal. But don't worry. Only good in bronze.

GripaAviara1 votes

While this might not be the worst state of the game, it's a definitely a low.

The damage is way too high. Point. It's not fun getting instakilled

Thee Pie Man1 votes

Haha I remember back in Season one, Dodge Runes were a thing, Ninja Tabi's actually gave you "dodge" that was a stat, completely nullifying damage. Jax's entire kit was fitted around this concept. You can see some remnants of it in his helicoptering. His ult gave him extra dodge. So 70% of your basic attacks did nothing.

There was also a time unique passives weren't a thing. Malph with 6 sunfire capes? Yush, that was a build back then.

Then we had a teleport Revive meta,

Revive was a summoning spell that instantly revived you, then you just tp'd to lane/the battle once more for another shot. (To be honest that was a lot more fun than staying ded while you watch the entire enemy team swamp your base because you were the only fed one.)

There was a lot of pretty ugly things back in the day, but honestly? I had fun with those random meh things, everyone did. Stuff was fine tuned but overall Season 1 to season 3 were probably my most "fun" years of League because there wasn't all this meta/data crap that makes the game less fun. I just want to get in on a champion I enjoy, fight peeps and outwit them etc, but now it's almost solidly a game about numbers and it makes everything feel really bad. (in my opinion.)

Rins Thigh Socks1 votes

You forgot

patch 4.20 Feral Flare Warwick. Literally over a 100% pickrate in normals (normals aggregates blinds, and it means that he was always picked at least once)

Kassadin and Akali didn't 0.5s you, Talon and Rengar did. Rengar didn't even have anything to indicate he was near you if he ulted, you only knew he was there once he was mid-jump and you were basically dead. However, Akali did have even more sustain than she did now and Kassadin had a silence and double the range on his ult so it was literally impossible to fight back as a mage.

ChaddyFantome1 votes

If you've never been mid lane against 700 range blink with 15% damage amplification and 1 second silence Talon, you haven't experienced an oppressive mid lane.

Old Talon wasn't even oppressive in LANE tho. His actual landing was garbage which is why he roamed so much. well, that and his Blink and combo were amazing ganking an flanking tools.

Radiant Wukong1 votes

Instant Rake, instant blink with silence and slow, istant bleed on Q. Also had 15% magic resistance as a passive.

With ArPen marks & quints, summoner 14 item 1036 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 , you could 100-0 a Veigar Ahri at level 3 with 1 spell rotation.

I don't know what League you were playing, but was the unanimous king of 1st blood.

Instant Rake,

That did 2 damage each pass and cost him a third of his mana bar.

instant blink with silence and slow,

That lasted less than a second. Also, it never did both at the same time over the course of the abilities existence.

instant bleed on Q.

That did less damage than most champions base HP regen over its very long duration.

Also had 15% magic resistance as a passive.

?????????

No he didn't. Why are you making shit up?

With ArPen marks & quints, summoner 14 item 1036 item 2003 item 2003 item 2003 , you could 100-0 a Veigar Ahri at level 3 with 1 spell rotation.

No he couldn't.

Stop making shit up.

I don't know what League you were playing, but was the unanimous king of 1st blood.

Talon didn't become king of first bloods till his rework. So no, I should be asking you what you are talkign about.
