Aatrox is nearly in a good state, but his Ult needs a little something something @meddler perhaps?

As and Aatrox main, I actually don't think Aatrox is in a bad state.

Run a build like this item 3074 item 3006 item 3078 item 3065 item 3742 item 3812 with the option to replace item 3812 with item 3156 or item 3035 depending on the situation and you will be enjoying 40 percent cool down, plenty of attack speed, mobility, sustain, damage and tankiness.

However, the thing that lacks about Aatrox is his ult---its not very game changing and not very useful for your team in any meaningful way. I am also opposed to buffing his stats as I can already end a game in 26 minutes, easily, when fed.

That being said, a buff to this ult that rewards the player for good timing would be appropriate. Especially if it provides some utility. Since his ult already draws blood out of nearby enemies, his ult should also steal life and heal Aatrox for something like 7%/10%/13% of his max health per enemy champion hit. So this means at level 13, when you have around 1800 HP if you had built a item 3044 by then, dueling 1v1, hitting one champion with the ult, Aatrox would be healed for 126. You can see the value of using the ult in just the right place, and also providing a reward for building HP on Aatrox. HOWEVER, any health stolen beyond Aatrox's max health will spill over to nearby allied champions divided evenly. So if he has 1700/1800 HP and he hits 3 champions and heals for 378, 278 would spill over and be divided up between however many allied champions in range, lets say there are 3...so that would be 92 HP each.

So you can see how this could really effect a team fight, if used at the right time and right place. Honestly even if i was like 4%/6%/8% that would be fined too, because hitting 4 champions in a well timed ult at a later part of the match, will still be enough to make a significant impact on that team fight.

I love Aatrox and really don't want him reworked to the point where its not even the same champion. League is team game, and Aatrox should bring more to the table as a teammate then diving in just to die, respawn, and then die again.

Triforce would otherwise be a viable choice but

  • he has no spammable abilities for spellblade
  • he doesn't use mana

Otherwise, this rework idea is amazing. Almost like combining the old Sion ult to the existing ult. Would work thematically too.

Aatrox and lore enthusiastic

Gotta tell you man, trinity force is really great on him.

Well, I have been a low gold Aatrox main for 2 years now and I say that item 3078 is not even relatively optimal for him. Tell me, why is it so good in your opinion?

In a build like this, where you opt to go the Hydra route....

Compared to also building a BOTRK, the Tri-Force gives Aatrox the same AS and AD, and gives up lifesteal and %of health damage. However, in exchange the trinity force provides extra health, movement speed, and cool down reduction--these help Aatrox stay alive longer, escape bad situations and chase down and stick to enemies. Yes, you could get some of that with a Black Cleaver, but you won't get the valuable attack speed. However, when you dive the back line to kill a squishy carry, I promise you that if you and you dive, auto attack with spell blade, and ult or E them and proc spell blade again, you will burst that carry down in 2 seconds---hitting them with spell blade 2 or even 3 times if you spell blade after you ult, and time it right.

Try that build and see what you think. If you have been low gold for 2 years, you may as well try something different!

There is the downside of cost xD Ok, I'll give it a try - I have already played ap aatrox, armor Pen aatrox, full tank aatrox, ad carry(bot) aatrox, full lifesteal aatrox.. Why not?

I run full AD runes now with natural talent instead of vampirism. That extra 2 AD to start may not seem like alot, but I really like being at 86 AD with a dorans blade to start

Your account is under 30 so I'm kinda reserved. Are you smurfing? Otherwise your points are pretty valid tho I prefer standard adc runes for DPS.

Yes, obviously. I'm making a new account and also, my other account got a suspension for posting on the boards. Haha.

Well here's the thing. You aren't really trading straight up early lane. You move, hit, move hit, move, hit. Your attack speed is largely irrelevant at that point, but it helps your CS and when you do land hits here and there on the enemy, they hurt a whole lot more. This often makes them tighten up and then you can be the lane bully.

I love this idea, because I feel like it gives Aatrox a cool anti-wombo niche. Imagine if Malph ults your team, followed by Yasuo. You pop Aatrox's ult as the enemy team follows up, stealing their health to heal yourself and your team and offsetting the initial blow of the engage. It has a second chance feel that thematically matches his passive.

I love Aatrox, he's not my main champ for sure (that's Riven), but I love the champ none the less.

I usually build Botrk with Death's Dance and then full tank, I find it to be quite successful as well, especially if you can establish a lead in lane.

Sorry, slightly off topic, but I'm curious.

Why Triforce instead of BotRK? For the CDR? BotRK also provides stickyness with the active, better AS and more sustain.

AS is the same for both..40%

Nahh, I don't play Aatrox, I'll just believe you on your words ^^'

I would think that the added sustain from BotRK would compensate the HP from Trinity, that the active would compensate the MS, and so that leaves only the CDR, but CDR doesn't strike me as a valuable stat on Aatrox. But yeah, I don't play Aatrox, so this is probably all wrong. It's just to explain why I was surprised in the first place.

After a closer inspection on his numbers, I would buff all of his ratios
