Nerf Hook Supports.

It feels like there's no point playing anything but Thresh, Pyke, Nautilus or Blitz. The second you land 1 hook you instantly win the fight against every enchanter in the game, let alone a Mage, sure sometimes RARELY you can get a good early game with Leona or Rakan but most of the time in Soloque if your able to get yourself a Hook Support, you win. There's no point playing anything else, Hook supports offer so much Utility, Catching and Tankiness to a team that picking anything else into them might as well be trolling.

... as it should be, the main counter to an enchanter is hard engage or (less so) poke that outranges them. if you're caught out as any other squishy target nothing would change.

edit: in fact, why shouldnt they win that regardless? if their main way to win is by engaging/abusing positioning mistakes, why should they lose... by engaging, and playing to their win condition?

let alone a Mage,

in exchange you pack way more kill pressure in lane, instead of waiting for them to hook you, focus the wave to build up a minion lead for body block, then relentlessly poke the ADC. that way regardless if youre hooked they lose the all in anyway. in fact this is the very basic way to beat all hook lanes, because their entire kit revolves around going in.

there is literally no counterplay to this style of fighting either because hook (ergo, melee) supports have quite literally, NO waveclear. even if they do pressure you off the wave let them crash it and by default you'll still eventually get a bigger wave via the basic ebb and flow of how minions work.

enchanters are still very strong and have consistently been, this is false. of the top ten performing supports, only 2 are hooks. 3 if you count leona.

Ahah. So true.

I love playing heimer support, so satisfying baiting a pull, only to be blocked by a turret.

Yep! The responsiveness of the Q is amazing. Go away, Thresh. The only thing I could never figure out was how to use it to protect ADC. But the stun and damage are nice as well. Free wards. Free dmg. Free hook blockers. Shove the waves and burn the turrets. I have a strong feeling I might be bringing him out next season.

Reasons I love Heimer support:

  1. I love solo leashing junglers as heimer support, slap three turrets onto the blue/red buff and the jungler walks to the next camp unscathed.
  2. Hooks and single target projectiles are essentially nullified
  3. 100-0'ing enemies that facecheck a bush you've got 3 towers set-up in is so satisfying
  4. Amazing CC and poke
  5. Probably one of the best pushers
  6. Ruins enemy adc mental getting constantly slapped by rockets and stuns
  7. Can solo dragon as support pretty quickly or provide support to jungler
  8. Free wards
  9. Can breakdance by spinning endlessly on his head

Hook supports are mostly a product of damage creep and lack of vision.

The main counter to them is vision controll(they are rather easy to dodge if you see them comming), amd Tanky frontliners that can simply bodyblock the hook without much risk. But thx to Riots changes since S6, vision is on an all time low, and damage is so high that even tanks(unless fed) blow up when cought by a hook just aswell, so the like of thresh only need to hit their hook on anyone and their team can blow the target up befor it can react.

If vision and damage get fixed, hiik supports no longer are an issue. However, if you nerf hook supports instead, it will just be lux/morgana/zyra takeing over as they also have low commitment pick/engage potential which is what you want in the low vision high damage enviroment.

Hooking is a very good mechanic, it takes skill and intense calculations to predict which side the opponent will dodge/flash/dash/whatever. Most hook-based skills have a long cq (Blitz is 20s-16s I really do remember that), during that time they are very vulnerable. If you're having problems with a single mechanic, you should learn how to play against it. If a Blitzcrank misses a hook, you can play very aggressive if you're a ranged champion. (there are some annoying point&click supports though... Soraka )

You play the most cancerous champions in the game, I swear, even if Pyke is op, you're one of these people who have no right to complain

I think one of the major issues with hook champs, and just to be clear I'm talking about Pyke Nautilus Blitzcrank Thresh and Leona is something really simple.

You have 5 of them and only 1 hard counter in the support role: Morgana

I personally would like to see Karma's Defiance reworked to something working exactly like Blackshield rather than giving a bubble to the entire squad around her. As it stands right now the only hard counter these champs have is routinely banned because of it. I promise you, if you made another champion hard counter these hook champs Morgana's ban rate would plummet.

Sure you can make the argument that Poppy might be able to interrupt Pyke Nautilus Thresh but realistically she offers very little else in the support role, so don't bother me with that. These champs need more hard counters, period.

Tank supports do fine against hookers. Alistar saves the trouble of having to combo with w, q. Taric can heal back up after getting pulled and usually can land a stun on the adc after the pull. Braum can just stand in front of his adc to eat the hook then either chose to counter engage or jump back to his adc with w. Leona just jumps on the enemy ADC after being pulled. Galio and Shen get a free double taunt after being hooked.
