Does Zed's ult count Shielded damage into final burst?
you get ulted by
and you pop barrier, is the damage that is blocked by barrier still included in the final burst of the Ult

Based on what others said it does. That seems really wrong to me. Like removes a good counter/survival option when against him.
Well if you have barrier or are playing a champ with a shield the point is to use it after he finished his combo and to use it to block the mark itself
I mean why does non HP dmg (shield) count towards the pop at all? That doesn't feel right. It should he based purely on true hp dmg not temp dmg.
It's based on damage he DOES, not damage received.
But he isn't actually DOING dmg when he is hitting a shield or an invuln. Imagine it as him hitting the air around the target instead of the actual marked target. Also on the invulvn point. If he is laying into a kayle ult as hard as he can he isn't actually doing ANY dmg while its up. So if theoretical fmg counts that just isn't right.
Actually, he is doing damage. It's just that it's being reduced by 100% (against Kayle's ult and the like). When a character is attacking, unless they're blinded, they always do damage, even against an invulnerable target. The damage is being done, it's just not being received.
An example to make it simpler: I punch a shield you are holding up. You don't take any damage. But that doesn't mean I didn't punch the shield.
You literally just said I don't take dmg in that scenario!
...Thats my point EXACTLY. Zed's burst is based on the damage he does. When I'm punching you, I'm still punching you. The damage I'm doing just doesn't disappear. Physics doesn't work like that. All that happens is that you're not receiving the damage.
Like narasimha said, its based around the damage zed put out not the damage you have taken. Like barrier doesn't make you invulnerable, it just gives you more health to soak up the damage.
I get that. I'm just saying for me personally that just feels wrong. I accept that it is how it is. Just doesn't feel like thats how it should be. It a missed opportunity for good counterplay variety. If it didn't do extra dmg when on shielded targets I think his ban rate would drop quite a bit.
I mean maybe that would drop his ban rate, I personally don't have to big of a problem with zed. But I think they added a better style of counter play to him, with the idea of waiting and being patient against him you take a more damage before the mark and then shield after he's done and survive the mark. It's basically if you panicked you die but if you stay calm you can live, that sounds like the way assassin's should work, right?
If that's the way it works, it shouldn't. You don't get an assist for dealing damage only to a shield, so Zed shouldn't get amplified damage for it.
Go Test it out and report back.
I am now also curious about this.
If anything, you should pick up Exhaust against Zed
Pretty sure it does, yeah.
I'm actually pretty sure the damage is factored in regardless if it's shielded since it's still happening. That's why you use barrier after he finishes or you manage to get away before that.
It even counts damage that was ignored due to invulnerability effects like Kayle ult.
Yes, it does. Zed's ult is calculated by all of the pre-mitigation damage you deal, meaing that it counts damage without accounting for shields, resistances, and even invulnerability. Yes. hitting an invulnerable target still increases Death Marks eventual damage.
I mean you could just use the barrier for the pop if you see the spinning shuriken, or make the smart choice and just take exhaust to make him useless.
Its hard to say due to Riot spaggeti code
From what I have seen I would say yes
But then again sometimes if you harm an enemy shield you dont get an assist for a kill

counts shielded damage because otherwise you're effectively shielding it twice
