What Champions are getting changes other than the "Big Six" that would be really nice to know.

Thanks

Still figuring that out, other pick mages/sustained damage mages are the most likely candidates however.

Also the changes to the core 6 won't all be enormous. They're the ones we're focused most on, and will involve some degree of art change (spell visual effects at least in each case). They won't all be 'big' updates though.

Narasimha2 votes

Will there be any significant itemization changes to go along with this, like the Marksmen Update, or is this champion only?

RiotMeddler10 votes

Some item changes, almost certainly won't be as large as the marksman ones though.

Please answer me this, will you introduce any new/reworked item with impactful active? The only active item AP carries have is Zhonas....

Also, are there any plans for making spellvamp actually a relevant stat?

Arsenic Sulfur7 votes

Well Vlad IS apart of the big six, so I expect they will make spell-vamp relevant. After all, Vlad forced the stat to be utterly terrible or else he breaks it harder than Xerath upon dying.

Can we get an alternative item to doran rings for early game? Top laners are somewhat interesting in this regard because they have 2 doran items to choose from, and ad farmers can always go for Cull, but doran rings is pretty much mandatory to mages.

Yulyana2 votes

Dark Seal? It's a viable option. More viable than Cull imo.

Bull Elnuk1 votes

Especially on strong early game champs, really like it on LB and ekko, with a TLD to really abuse the early game.

I would still like to know more about what the plans are for the Swain rework. If there are no plans yet that's ok too, but he's my main mid and one of my favorite characters. Curious what direction he will be taken in.

Here's to hoping Zhonyas gets buffed for that ridiculous price point. Vs AD matchups, you will almost certainly be in a worser position. With hex drinker and the free armor pen, going through early defense builds will always favor AD side of the matchup. The passive is simply too good. I'd rather have Zhonyas give a shield than be in a vulnerable position after being invulnerable. IMO, I wish we could deactivate the stasis when ever we wanted. Or we can just nerf hex/maw.

Krys Star2 votes

Is there a chance Zhonya's Hourglass will receive a rework or adjustments to make it a viable, healthy option versus burst/assassins without feeling like a bad, but necessary, rush? AD champions are out of control lately, more than ever now. They have so many tools and options to work with against AP champions, while AP champions only have Zhonya's, which strips them of two valuable stats when they rush it: mp5 and cdr.

For those looking for buffs to Zhonya's Hourglass, it should be clear we're not doing that. Given how game-warping Zhonya's active can be - and how powerful a deterrent it is against dudes who want to blow you up - we're pretty firm on gating this active with a fair combine cost.

If that's the case, I'd much rather Zhonya's either gets a rework or is scrapped so that AP champions can have more favorable, viable options and builds versus AD champions and assassins alike. :(

Count me in on team "scrap it" because right now playing against an AD midlaner feels like being between a rock and a hard place. You can

  1. Buy CDR/Mana item and keep pressure on the lane but risk being blown up.

  2. Buy hourglass so that you won't be blown up, then cry as your botlane dies to a Zed gank because you're in base with no fucking mana.

Neither choice is good. I stopped buying hourglass because its insane price means you not only have no lane presence, you also have no survivability for a good 10 minutes while you're building the damn thing which is plenty of time to lose the game.

It just needs to be replaced with something better.

FQC is popular for a reason.

  • It's a cheap way to solve the mana problem.
  • The gold helps reduce the gap between items (Hourglass) ; especially if you get blown up [a few times].
  • The active is still incredibly strong. Vision OP.

I think a problem with scraping it is that they'd need to heavily rework several champions that rely heavily on it. While champs like Fizz often abuse is, it's practically mandatory on others like Morgana and Swain.

MudintheWater2 votes

I'm a Morgana main (really dedicated - 1.1mill mastery) and I practically never buy that item. Seriously, check my history. I've only recently built it on a tankmorg game and in TT where it's actually good.

I'm interested to know any mages were considered but not chosen for the update due to needing changes greater than the scope of this project.

same scale as the AP Item overhaul in Patch 5.13? Because honestly most of these changes were good, but they got killed due to price increases in Patch 5.22...

**Edit: Off-Topic I know, but consider.

Could you sneak a flat MS item for bruisers/fighters that doesn't give AS? Please, we kinda need it because of the Mobility creep. Since you took away Zephyr, maybe you could do us a favor.

Low AD, Average cost, Flat MS, maybe HP or MP..

I want a supplus for Zephyr but without AS so ADC can't abuse it, item 3742 is welcome, but I want more options, since the MS is not fixed and work only when engaging..

Do you expect there to be some form of changes to Annie that exemplify her pick/teamfight nature but also allow more counterplay for those against her?

WadeWilson13371 votes

Annie wont be changing anytime soon. She is built to be a strong champion to learn mid lane with. She is very one dimensional and has counterplay, despite the many who believe she doesnt. You force her to use her stun to clear waves, and then go in on her. Rinse repeat. If she holds onto her passive, she will likely lose alot of farm. She is designed to be "op but easy" to the typical bronze/silver player, similar to Katarina.

Embalancer1 votes

Annie has counterplay?!?!?! first I heard about it. I don't have an issue with her kit it's her passive that needs a look at as it is ridiculous that someone can have a nigh undodgable aoe stun. I remember sometime back they nerfed the length of TwistedFate could hold a gold card because he was being to much of a potential bully yet I've seen annie being able to push teams off objective simply because she's post 6 and has her passive up.

WadeWilson13371 votes

Actually her, "undodgable" aoe stun are both skillshots. They are quite easy to land, but they are still dodgable, just so thats clear. If Annie has her passive, yes you have to respect that and be aware "Hey she can flash ult 2 or 3 people, maybe we should be careful or try to engage before she gets the chance". HOWEVER, if she DOESNT have her passive up, Annie becomes incredibly vulnerably, immobile, and squishy. There is counterplay, but if you insist on joining the silver V bandwagon that also thinks Zed and Leblanc have zero counterplay, go for it.

Rico Nasty4 votes

PLEASE take a look at Syndra for the mage update. Give her a new passive, or add a new mechanic or something. She has been left in the dumpster for over a year now, something needs to be done.

hbgoddard2 votes

What's wrong with Syndra? She has a rather unique play style and she's pretty strong right now too.

Watafool2 votes

NoZodiac isn't disagreeing with your point of view. You're actually just flat out wrong on a few points.

"Each of Syndra's abilities gain an additional effect at maximum rank." That means, for each spell, at rank 5, it gets stronger. So at level 9, if you have been upgrading your spells efficiently, you will have one spell that is rank 5. That being said, that negates your second point about "getting to that point maybe 1 in 10 games" because while you might not get to level 18 every game, you can still get multiple spells to max rank.

Also, Hexdrinker isn't a problem only for syndra. It's tough for a lot of mages against AD mids.

This is why Zodiac says you don't know what you're talking about... because you actually don't know as much as you think you do.

Any words if Xerath's Ultimate is being worked concerning his visuals? Since his rework years ago it was a huge letdown.

Is there any chance for poor Galio ? Was really surprised someone with as many issues as he has didn't get picked up for the big six, but i assume that might have to do with time constraints, and potential identity crisis since Galio is such a strange champ. Either way, will the gargoyle get any love?

Plz Fix Heimerdinger and his stupid OP turrets. His kit is so powerful without the gatling gun turrets that have huge HPs and instant target any enemy champ that glances at them.

I know that tanks are suppose to be the weakness of mages, but I hope that someday the truth of this statement is reduced by a reasonable degree. Some mages actually do well versus tanks. Whenever the enemy has a fairly tanky comp, you will opt to pick one of these mages. If you pick a mage that isn't good against tanks earlier in the draft and then they pick tanks, you kind of get boned. Is it possible you guys are looking to create an item that does well versus health stacking champions other than Liandry's? Liandry's is a fantastic item, but it just isn't optimal on some of the mages in the game and I feel like that gap needs to be filled by introducing a new mage item. Take a champion like Xerath for example, he's one of my favorite mages, but Liandry's is kind of weak on him. I play many games which I build Liandry's and Void staff, yet I don't even get CLOSE to killing some tanks even after landing everything in my arsenal along with being completely fed out of my mind. They simply get TOO tanky. It would be interesting to see an item added into the game that does large percent current health chunks, with a 3 second cool down or so. Maybe 6% of the enemy's current health is dealt in damage every 3 seconds that the enemy is taking magic damage that exceeds a certain amount. That way DoT champions would still be better off buying Liandry's. Balance the stats how you like, but an item with a passive like that would make a good purchase on burst champions while leaving Liandry's as a better buy on DoT champions. It would also balance out the situation of it giving too much damage early game like DFG had because the passive damage is done in current health. Tanks SHOULD be able to beat mages, but if i'm fed as a burst mage then I don't think I should be scared of the tanks.

Bull Elnuk1 votes

You mentioned that sustained damage mages are the most likely candidates, so what does this mean for Azir? It has been stated by Exganiar that the use of fervor of battle on him is a bug and will be fixed, which only really leaves him with TLD, which is lackluster at best. Will these item changes help him get up to speed before the game is over?Azir

Who are the big six? Typing "mage rework" in Google only gets me things from last summer, and it's just stuff like "We'll do a mage rework eventually", so I'd really like to know where everyone is getting their info on it.

Ahri Annie Syndra TwistedFate

there are others but these are the champs i hope they give draven/lucian level changes

(ahri move speed on her q changed, annie ult travel time+better e, syndra better ANYTHING and something with tfs e and his passive that becomes pointless at lategame)

Crossette4 votes

TF's E doesn't become useless late game. It's an added bonus to his burst AND sustained damage.

His passive only becomes useless if you're lucky enough to get to full build.

Azteryz1 votes

you read my thing wrong i was only talking about his passive solely being useless late game not his e

Edit: I'm an idiot, even if that was phrased oddly.
