Ashe: my ADC for S5?

I'm actually considering using Ashe as my ADC for ranked. Since games are lasting longer due to the Drag/turret changes and assassins are getting smacked around, she's looking more and more appealing. She can sit on lvl 1 E and item 3093 all game, rack up long range assists early with her ult, and end up with ridiculous amounts of gold to carry late. Then there's not a lot of things scarier than a rich, late game ADC with on-demand kiting, guaranteed crits, and an aoe stun+slow ultimate.

What do you think G&B? How does our favorite Frost Archer fair in the current environment and against every other ADC?

League of Gapclosers ruins her, especially Yasuo.

I love playing Ashe , but she is incredibly vulnerable solo. I can usually do very well with her in 2v2 situations, but die very quickly or am easily scared out of lane (or killed) if i'm not with a support, because of her low mobility. Duoing with a support is great though, because I can actually trust them to stick with me when I need them too.

just cos it's a new season doesn't mean they've change ashe, she's still the worst adc unless we count urgot

Nah, worst ADC goes to Twitch, hands down.

darkdill1 votes

Tell that to an LCS Twitch who positions correctly.

OOPS! YOUR ENTIRE TEAM IS DEAD SIMULTANEOUSLY!

UberAffe1 votes

also requires the enemy to have poor positioning. Also LCS play is much different than solo queue. Twitch does well in LCS because they are ACTUALLY a team, solo queue is more of a crap shoot on if you have a decent team and if the enemy will make a lot of mistakes.

Well, that's what Riot balances around. They aren't gonna balance the game for unskilled players.

UberAffe3 votes

wasn't talking about balance ... Just saying that he is very risky pick in solo queue

The funny thing is Urgot is amazing if you know how to play him. His poke is stupidly good.

better in the toplane imo

blueberrypancake1 votes

i think he's better mid cuz he has more denying potential with is passive and mid laners are normally squishier so you can get a kill around lvl 2-3 if they don't know what they are doing.

What's an Urgot?

A top lane Marksman/Tank/Mage/Abomination.

i know right i urgot about him too

That made me cringe. Well done.

Urgot isn't an ADC he's an anti carry. He has a damage reduction passive, strong early game so carries get denied xp and gold to slow down their scaling, has an ultimate that can take a carry from the enemy team and put it in the middle of your team, and has a tank attribute that no other marksmen has. In my book he's not an adc, just more of a Yorwick. #urgodforever Urgot

Ewok Berserkers1 votes

He's also a bit of an anti-tank, considering his mid-to-long range poke and armor shredding.

I mained ashe for a while, and actually met with quite a bit of success with her. Then I realized other ADCs are just plain better, with a lot more raw power.

asdbnmrty2 votes

Ashe simply can't push the damage like other ADCs can, which is the primary job of the role. If we do an indepth analysis of this, we can clearly see that I'M IN LOVE WITH THE COCO

I've been using her almost exclusively since the ranked season has begun. I start E, then I just ride out the landing phase. She's actually decently hard to trade with thanks to the power of her Q and W. Her ult is still a monster skill. A stun AND an aoe slow make for some plays.

Even the ever-present J4 hasn't been able to stop me so far, so it's been a sweet ride. The best part is after I get an IE that my teammates are always surprised I can deal damage. I think my main matsman picks for this season are going to be Ashe, Varus, and Kalista.

In most games 80 -90% of the time if you are using your ult long range you are doing it wrong. Straight in the face initiations in ganks skirmishes and team-fights win games as Ashe. On a semi coordinated team that will follow up on initiation Ashe is good, on a well coordinated team that follows up and protects Ashe she is a game dominator.

If you are good at her and can accept that your CS needs to be godly and you will have some games where idiots leave you out to dry main her.

Ashe is quite good. If you're good, that is. Needs more attention to be paid to positioning and basic mechanics than more popular ADCs.

Main difficulty with her is that arrow gets completely wrecked by item 3222. Fortunately, it's not such a common buy in solo queue.

I would generally recommend against an early item 3093. A competent opponent will make you lose more CS than you gain in gold procs because you can never fight.

I have maximum success with Ashe rushing item 3134 and running scaling CDR blues. More arrows is better, and eventually buying item 3142 is quite useful for the chase and kite potential.

The worst adc is Varus hands down. If you compare every adc's chance to stop or escape Zed's ult, Varus and MF stand the least chance. Twitch can cast his Q the moment zed appears in his screen and get away.

So with this in mind, it shows us her current state. Ashe CAN actually do something about dive compositions, however since most assassins are getting nerfed this puts "kiting" champions in an excellent position like her, Caitlyn, Kalista and Vayne.

Now when I say kiting, I mean champions that rely on raw auto attacks for pure damage.

Drunk Rummate1 votes

ashe is a lot of fun to play. the thing is that her base movespeed is also incredibly slow, in addition to having no mobility spell. it makes dodging skillshots pretty difficult as well, considering you need to be weaving autos in between your dodges.

idk you might be surprised how often you find yourself in a position where having a quick dash, or even a speed boost would have saved your life. it can be something as simple as pushing mid when suddenly a teammate gets picked, causing the other team to turn on the jets and chase you down. guess who gets left behind? the poor ashe with no mobility. and then you lose your turret because not only did X teammate get taken out, but ashe was too slow to retreat from the reksai too.

I noticed she's been getting better. She's gone from "ew, reroll." to "ooo gimmie!" on ARAM

Maple Crusader1 votes

Ashe doesn't seem like a shabby choice for ranked. Although she doesn't have an attack speed steroid or absurd mobility, her global skillshot stun is absolutely helpful in team fights. I find that her initiation is the strongest among the adcs, with Varus being in second place.

I'm rooting for Graves as the to-go ADC for S5, the assassin nerfs both make his burst much more valuable in a team, and reduces the enemies ability to capitalize on his short ranges. He has just enough early game power for overwhelming his lane and secure early dragons, and enough lategame power to carry apropiately (his steroid is serious stuff, and his nukes are nothing to laugh at). His burst in lane is specially good considering we have switched away from tank supports to squishy supports, and finally, being an ADC who CAN dash, he can abuse the fact that the new wall gates have made dashing an extremely important thing during sieges.

I'll keep playing Miss Fortune though, because I'm all about them early towers and early dragons.

Support Ashe though. item 3303 >item 3070 >item 2049 > whatever the match needs >item 3043 +item 3092 and you turn into a super heavy poke support with crazy initiation and decent damage from item 3043 and your passive.

SunGold1 votes

she is a good choice since the reliase of kalista. imo her ultimate help your teammates in the teamfights kill her much more quickly. but thing is that sivir existes so i woud just pick her vs kalista or other adc's with no dodge or and awkward dash.

btw you guys muight find this so troll but i like to build her with this: item 3142 + item 3031 + item 3153 + item 3253 and the utility mastery that reduces you flash time + item 3139 or item 3078 + item 3102 or item 3026, with this your preaty much a supporting your team at the same time you deal damage with a few attacks and allways staying alive

ThePlasticSpork1 votes

The majority of her "kiting" with the exception of her ultimate doesn't apply to dashes, so still no.

Getting an early avarice blade would also reduce your ability to fight pretty effectively. Any remotely competent opponent who sees you with an avarice would just bully and outtrade you in lane because you have almost no offensive stats, on top of being a carry that already loses most trades with other ADCs to begin with.

Her ultimate is also not an AOE stun. Only the target that actually gets hit is stunned - the rest are just slowed.

junglerboy161 votes

I have actually had great success building Avarice blade on Ashe, but only if I get an early kill and can afford to sit on it. It is a snowball item, and should only be gotten if she is already ahead by a bit. That said, if you DO have an occasion to get it and can sit on it for most of the match, Farm as he is really strong, because between hawkshot and Avarice blade, you get 5 extra gold per minion +3gp10, or roughly 6gp10 total assuming you get around 85-90% of minions. to put that in perspective, most champs get 16gp10 base. Basically, if you can afford the weakness you can steamroll ahead in a matter of minutes.

blueberrypancake1 votes

The only problem with Ashe is that her kite is nonexistent against mobility and it takes a very long time for her to scale up (almost Caitlyn tier). She use to be very good when the meta was back in the TF dominated days when there weren't a whole lot of hard mobility champs so once someone got hit by Ashe either you flash or get 2-shot. I mainly only like Ashe because she can ult while at base, teleport into a fight, and have someone walk into the ult. Ashe ult dream xD

junglerboy161 votes

Of course. She still has the same problems as always, but if you happen to pick her into a low mobility team (no dashes with only speed boosts for mobility), she is pretty amazing. Basically, I love sniping enemy Zeds who think that they can shadow out to their ult by launching from base at the shadow when he goes in, waiting...waiting... "You have slain an enemy!".

ABlueQuaker1 votes

Ashe has made a pretty big, albeit quiet, comeback. I think she's pretty strong with the right build, mindset and team composition. She's pretty good in Solo Q given the fact that a) she's got a pretty safe laning phase (pretty high base range and the option to play passively and still gain a lead with her E passive and active), b) she can actually win lane now that you can put all of your early points into W, then go for Q and have much higher poke and kiting potential, c) she sets up ganks really well even pre-6 - especially with something like Braum/Annie/Leona, AND FINALLY d) provided you can consistently land your ultimate and at appropriate times, you can kill an enemy carry whenever they overextend even slightly.

Blainezy1 votes

I have recently started using her also and have been doing really well. She's really strong and is always ahead with her E passive if you are ahead in farm , not counting kills.
