Nerf exhaust to target abilities more and auto attacks less or just get rid of it and replace it

Woook3r··1 votes·933 views

this summoner doesnt do a lot to protect adc's against assassins and it actually does a lot more to cuck them in lane. Was baited into being agressive by an OMW ping from my jungler and wound up missing my FB on the alistare by 5 hp because I couldnt get more than 3 wimpy auto attacks in. Then I was so deep, didnt get my dangerous game either and died to minions and the jhin.

I have never been more tilted in my LIFE and I feel like the meta summoners in bot lane should be overall helping adc's rather than cucking them. Exhaust doesnt need a 40% attack speed slow. It needs to protect the adc from burst dmg like rengar and zed which are both almost impossible to exhaust in time to save your adc.

I say we get rid of exhaust and replace it with an 70% dmg reduction on targeted ally.

I don't think you understand what the term "cuck" actually means. also exhaust is fine. You got outplayed.

Woook3r1 votes

cucked is to have something taken from you. like the loyalty and fidelity of your wife...or a kill that you feel should have been yours as well. ali left with literally 5 hp. that is not an out play. that is minion dmg.

if i had traded even one additional auto attack 30 seconds prior to that, or if i had mana for my e, he would have died. Easily. Its just the way it goes some times. I probably needed about 20 mana. Maybe I dropped an axe due to a bugg or due to minion pathing. Thats not an outplay. An outplay is a 2v1. Not getting snared and making it back by the skin of your teeth.

No, it's not as vague as just having something taken from you, cuckolding very specifically refers to a woman cheating on her husband. And he exhausted you, you died, and he lived. Sounds like outplay to me.

Woook3r1 votes

if you cant see how "cucked" applies here, then you are just not as perceptive as you could be.

I would admit that I got outplayed if he had lived by an amount of hp that is more significant than minion dmg. 5 hp from death can be attributed to rounding error accumulation or the jittery pathing of a minion trying to get in range of him in time to even give one tick of dmg.

He cant control that stuff or calculate my dmg output accurately enough. Furthermore, I will review my own game and if I see that lux did not trigger her passive on the ali, then it was not an outplay. it was my supports failure to proc her own kit.

why should it be so effective against auto attack dmg?

Dynikus3 votes

because that's its intended use. That's like asking why cleanse is so effective against CC or why barrier is so effective against burst damage.

Woook3r1 votes

i would say that its intended use is to protect the adc because it is a summoner predominantly taken by supports. And it does do that! But it does so by protecting them from the OTHER ADC more than from anyone else, because it hits the adc with TWO important debuffs.

so from the supports view, exhaust is fine the way it is. And from the assassins view, exhaust isnt such a problem. you can probably even kill the adc before the support reacts or before they can get in range to use it on you.

From the adc''s perspective, it can either protect you or fail to protect you BUT IT CAN ALSO COMPLETELY REMOVE YOU FROM THE FIGHT unless you have ability dmg roughly equal to your auto attack output. As jhin or graves, I would have killed the alistare. As auto attack reliant draven, i was boned a lot harder by the spell.

It can be used defensively to help protect someone on your team, or it can be used offensively to help kill someone on the other team. it's a versatile spell, which is a reason it's so prominent. it's intended use is to counter AA reliant champions, and does a very good job at that. It can counter assassins as well, like exhausting Zed when he ults makes him almost useless.

I personally don't like exhaust. I think it's used far too offensively when it is meant to be at it's core, a defensive utility.

Woook3r1 votes

it tilts me every time my support uses exhaust to "help" me get a kill.

Exhaust is intended to be a neuter to ADCs and Assassins, something that it does very well. Your story about getting thwarted because Exhaust stopped an extra auto-attack that should have killed Alistar could have just as easily been a rage rant about Heal, Barrier, or Flash. All 4 of these spells have defensive uses and their main purpose is to hinder opponents from killing the user, so raging at Exhaust just because it did what it was supposed to is just silly and pointless. How many times has Exhaust saved you? How many times have you been able to deal that killing blow because your support Exhausted someone, slowing them and shredding their defenses? You can't sit here and claim that as an ADC that Exhaust is a bad summoner when the entire reason you do so well is probably due to it. Stop griping about, chalk it up to bad luck and being Exhausted at the perfect time, and move on.

its more effective vs adc than vs any other role. that is the point of the post. it nerfs dmg of adc more than of other classes, and it nerfs their lifesteal which only they rely on for the most part. and it nerfs the attack animation which is another thing adc has to deal with. so its unfair.

It's not unfair, because ADCs are arguably some of the more dangerous champions because they can kill you at a range before most champs can close in on them. That's why they're called the carry, and that's why the team protects them. That's why assassins need flashy tactics and evasive maneuvers to get in close to murder them. Having a summoner spell to deal with and hinder one of the most dangerous opponents on the battlefield is entirely the point of Exhaust. And again, it's not a problem. You just got out played, just as you would have if Alistar had had Heal or Barrier.

Exhaust double's down on ADCs during it's duration, but it's worth noting that since ADCs are sustained damage, a 2.5 second window isn't going to cut them as hard as covering the entire all-in burst window of a diver/assassin. Plus it's usually harder for the enemy support to reach that ADC later in the game.

On top of that, exhaust kinda needs to remain good in lane. Otherwise, if the opposing team has no assassin you get to go ignite for kill pressure. If the assassin setup is one-sided, that means the lane with exhaust loses.

I really wouldn't wanna see bot lane once again decided primarily by the other lanes, by giving the team that can go ignite an even weaker opponent to play against for their all-in. The 4-man dives and teleport play is enough.

As for your proposed replacement, I don't think giving a teammate an Alistar ult would be very good either. It further reinforces the dives, and would make for some cheesy engages.

Woook3r1 votes

I disagree. All the burst champion has to do is press zhonyas or survive for that 2.5 seconds then do the rotation. you just hold your spells.

For the sustained dmg champion, thats 2.5 seconds of dps you will never get back and given that most fights last only 5 seconds, thats half your dmg.

So youre saying exhaust should have almost no effect on Tryndamere Vayne Yasuo or hell almost any other ADC?

Woook3r1 votes

im saying if you have to exhaust the adc to survive that champion, then they are too fed and they should be able to carry. On the other hand. Exhaust does next to nothing to a fed assassin. Because a fed assassin only gets a 40% dmg reduction to abilities. A fed adc gets an attack speed slow and a dmg reduction. And if they iinvest in life steal, then the exhaust will negate that stat as well bc autos are weakened by so much. So yes. It is too effective against these champions and not effective enough against other champions, like rengar who can quickly kill a rooted adc even through the exhaust.

Yea, youre just gonna tunnel vision this. Even though ive seen an exhaust completely gut an assassin.

Only the slow. The other effects still go through

I thought so too, but MightySaturn's comment made me check wikia. The additional details on it says it slows attack speed affects as well. Weird.
