@Riot are there going to be any changes to tank supports?

im pretty sure tank supports are pulling their weight in solo queue.

Riot is only changing the 3 jungle tanks.

With the tank update there's a few downsides and upsides.

With the items being balanced to no longer be universally good, items focusing less on health (universal stat) and more towards resistances which is great for balance. It also means that supports are gonna be squishier as well due to having lower health pools so that's pretty bad.

With the new item Gargoyle Stoneplate being really cheap, 2500g, that is a new tank support item. In comparison frozen heart is 2700g so that's pretty nice. Altho I imagine normal tanks don't want to give up on the damage the active brings, tank supports don't give a damn for damage in more scenarios so that's good. You gotta look at actually building the item though, you're giving up 20% CDR, mana and -15% A/S aura for the Gargoyle item so gotta make some decision there, 20% CDR is huge.

Face of the mountain feels like a pretty trash item as well and will be even more worse with the tank update. 10% health shield currently based on the support's health, now overall health on tank items is decreasing. I think tank supports need another option to access health in the early game.

Tank supports are doing alright at the moment, with the tank update I think they will do a bit better overall. I think the real issue with tank supports is that Locket and Redemption are being bought every single game. Not a lot of tank stats for tank supports.

Literally better off just playing a tank support at top lane at this point because they are gonna be pushed out of lane by all the AP mages at bot lane lol
