Good luck man. Super doable. Nearly did it a couple seasons ago and freakin' everrrryone was so pissed on my team almost every game. Then there are the assholes that pretend to not notice you are middle. Despite typing it over and over.

I play Zyra mid and get much the same problem. I have to call mid, and then reinforce that call when I lock in "yes, definitely mid" or else everyone assumes I changed my mind and switched to support xD

AP Malphite is truly one of the sleeper op things in the game. It outright deletes carries mid / late game and is only really countered by heavy MR or predicted Flashes. It's funny to see a carry Flash the moment you come into vision lol.
