Let's talk ranked, why i quit playing it, and what would make me come back.

so i saw your video

now i am going to provide some background, if u don't like reading you can skip ahead to the first line break

i start playing in season 3. i ranked into silver 1 in the postseason 3. which i flat out did NOT deserve

i played like a bronze back then

by the time season 4 really did come around i learned enough to climb to silver 2 from siver 4 which is what i fell to. at this point in time i play like a silver

by the time season 5 came around i was heaving a great time.. i loved the Nidalee rework. but as always during a preseason i was slightly demoted to silver 4

however u guys decided to absolutely KILL laning nidalee and FORCED her into the jungle. so i quit league entirely until the release of challenger nid. at this time i forced myself to painfull learn my fav champion in her new role.. not only that i had to learned it about 8 speprate time because YOU KEPT FUCKING CHANGING IT. by time time though i stopped playing ranked becuase of "dynamic boost" and not wanting the first season i get gold to have no meaning. so i climbed from bronze preseason where i quick was demoted to bronze 4 0 lp after not playing for like 8 months and eventually climbed back to silver once i got the hang of the game again

in season 7 i was demoted bronze again but very quickly climbed out on a 16 game win-streak with my new support i have started in season 6 Morgana

the laster half of season 7 i was unable to play ranked due to ping issues (exceeding 500 for minutes at a time) that made risking ranked impossible.

in season 8. i was not demoted to bronze but have stopped playing ranked.

and here is why:

when i was placed into silver 1 in season 3.. i played like what i came to learn was a bronze 3 or 4 skill level. i had basic moba mechanics fro playing another in "hero attack" in starcraft 2 but i have zero game knowledge this i quickly learned and a climbed back to an actual skill level

but what i learned was

riot system was STILL putting BRAND NEW PLAYERS into not just silver, but HIGH silver who have ZERO game knowledge, don't know any matchups and barely know how to play the champion at a bronze level let alone the game.

the issue that stopped me playing ranked was. well over HALF and leaning toward 70-80% of games were flat out decided by matchmaking before we even entered champion select.

whenever i got the 20-30% of games where the teams were even.. it was fun. and it was pretty even

but i would CONSTANTLY get players on both teams who would by themselves cost their team the game and the other 9 players in the game didn't matter

that ONE new player decided the outcome of the game. the skill level gap was so enormous. that even a player i could easily beat woudl have 8 kills and then be nigh unbeatable because some brand new player FED them.

if u WANT to fix the ranked system STOP putting new players in silver.

there isn't a new player on the planet that could climb out of bronze. DO NOT put them in silver it RUINS the silver games.

because you LITERALLY have zero control over the outcome in well over half your games and might as well just be spectating.

in bronze a player can "outplay" a fed player because their still just THAT BAD. But it isn't like that in silver.

i can outplay people i am a bit behind sure... but there is a point where you just cant if the opponent just doesn't COMPLETELY fuck it up.

and certain champions being broken make this tremendously worse.

champion right now such as Garen and Jax take so little skill to play but in order to BEAT a player at "X" skill lvl u need to have "2X" or even "3X" skill level. and if said champion just HAPPENS to also be your hardcounter.. then you are just laughably screwed.

this also al;lowed players who SUCK to climb to where they shouldn't be.

and if for w/e reason those players DON'T get the absurdly OP champion because its BANNED. they they just feed their ass off because they don't know how to actually play

you are making a new "wood" league ( i refuse to call it "iron", get real riot...) GOOD use this league to filter in the newer players STOP putting them in silver.

in your video u described how "easy" it is to climb in gold.

you want to know WHY? because the skill it takes to CLIMB out of silver when u can influence the outcome of only, say 30-40% of your games, means is ABSURD and once u reach gold and u can influence maybe 80-90%.. climbing is a joke.

people say "riot puts people into silver because the "average" skill of players is silver.

BUT THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE!! The ISSUE is it put NEW players in silver and "NEW" players arn't your "average" player.. they are NEW and they play at a LOW BRONZE skill lvl.

and when they get good enough they can climb to silver... but then what happens? the face a mixture of players how proved themselves by climbing into silver by BEATING bad player many many times

and BRAND NEW PLAYERS who are BAD, because they are NEW. and those said player who justd climbed out of bronze have absolutely no issue getting crazy fed off the new players. which leaves the other people who climbed out of bronze stuck dealing with a 15 kill champion that u cant even 4v1.

as soon as u PUT NEW PLAYERS IN BRONZE this issue will GO AWAY.

THAT is what needs to be done.

It really doesn't matter what elo point riot chooses to put new players, over time, the ladder will shift towards making that point the average rank of all players. If riot puts all new players in bronze, after 2-3 seasons, the players in mid silver will shift to bronze and the players in bronze will shift toward iron. Just do out the math.

The current starting point is 1200 (silver) which is also the average elo of all accounts. Every game, 5 players win and 5 players lose so the average elo of all ranked accounts stays relatively the same throughout the season.

Lets say that riot changed the starting point to 800. Initially, the average elo of all accounts stays at 1200. However, as new accounts are added to ranked, the average elo will slowly fall. After 25% of old accounts gets replaced by new players, the average elo will move to 1100. Another 25% and the average moves down to 1000. Throw in a few soft resets and over the course of a few seasons, the average elo of all accounts will be brought down close to 800.

it really does though.

i mean climbing at the VERY start of the season is damn near a million times easier because i can get teammates i can rely. becuase all the "fake" silver that are actaully bronze got demoted to bronze

by the middle of the season its a complete mess because of the influx of new players.

you say the "current starting point is silver"

yes it is but only because riot arbitrarily puts people there.

and then people who climb out of bronze get STUCK there, because now u have a mix of people who just spend t proably 20 gamecx climbint of of bronze hard-carrying bad teammates against bad opponents, and then u give put them against other people who did that.. and it WOULD be even except then u just throw a a bunch of brand new players. the exact king of players these other people just climbed of of bronze by absolutely destroying and w/e team gets THEM as the opponents get so FED that they basically 1v5.

if riot put new people in BRONZE, at the level they PLAY at, then this wh9ole issue would go away.

the AVERAGE skill lvl of players is silver

the AVERAGE skill level of a BRAND NEW PLAYER is bronze 4

and believe me... i know i have BEEN in bronze 4 and i was played into silver 1 my first season, AND I PLAYED LIKE A BRONZE 4 BACK THEN.

You don't seem to understand the problem. Mathematically, the average elo of the playerbase and the starting elo will converge after a season or two no matter what riot chooses as the starting elo.

Conceptually, the average skill of a player and the average skill of a new player can be different. Mathematically, those two values will become the same after a season or two.

i dont understand the problem. YOUR NOT IN SILVER YOU don't understand the issue silver is FINE at the beginning of the season. its the NEW players that cause the issue not the CURRENT ones. anyone who climbed out of bronze IS silver the people who were giving say "silver 1" i like was but them played like a bronze 4.. ruin the game for 4 people in every game they feed their ass off in while they fall. and if by some miracle u do manage to carry one that's another 4 people they ruin it for.

the issue is in the PROCESS of brining them OUT of silver down to bronze becuase they never belonged there in the first place thier first season

it donest matter of 80-90% of silver players are silver that "10-20%" who are new and play at a bronze 4 level is STILL a player in EVERY GAME and w/e team gets them LOSES.

THATS the issue because the people who CLIMBED out of bronze are going to stomp they shit out of a brand new player

and w/e team GETS the new player in the 60-70% chance that they are IN the game DECIDES the game.

believe it or not the skill of a BRAND NEW RANKED PLAYER is NOT silver. it NEVER has been and it NEVER will be.

give them 6 months to a year and sure they will be silver

but they don't START there therefore they should not BE in there when they START ranked.

its REALLY that's simple

You keep focusing on player skill but ignore the mathematics. It doesn't matter how bad the player base is starting out. Mathematically, the starting elo value and the average elo for the playerbase has to converge.

What is the problem? Bad games? Or you thinking you deserve to be higher than silver?

Riot's balance team is the issue. I agree fucking Garen Jax MonkeyKing take so little fucking skill and they're so fucking OP. SoloQ champions these days are dominated by easy champions. Some champions are easy but still take a brain Ahri MissFortune . Riot for no fucking reason nerfed Camille . Like bruh, she takes skill. She has a high win rate because people invested time in her. When tanks were meta, instead of nerfing tanks. THey fucking nerfed her. THe ONLY good bruiser to play in competitive. The meta changes so fast. Matchmaking is trash. THe balance team is trash. All you have to tell the community is "Everyone in the balance team is fired" and Lol will be a so much better game. If they can't use and understand data properly then I don't know why they are so powerful.
