Now I see what people mean with Soraka's E not having quick enough silence ticks
My last game had a Kha jumping out of it after I placed it on top of him, and at least once stepping onto it, THEN jumping onto my ADC and blowing them up.

I've been telling you people about this, but the NA Boards shitter hivemind has deducted Soraka is deemed overpowered and oppressive. I shit you not, someone told me she has "unfun patterns".
Literally whenever you post something way before the issue becomes popular but no one saw it because it gets downvoted into oblivion by the board's hive mind.
I've dealt with this shit with Veigar, Soraka, AND Sion, now. People keep bitching about how the champion is "gutted" because their old play patterns don't work, anymore, and I get shouted out of the thread when I suggest that they are still good if you play them differently. Once people realize "hey, this is actually good, it might even be OP" then everyone starts acting like they were the first one to call it.
I'm calling it, right now: The next sleeper OP champion is Corki. I swear he's OP as fuck, but no one believes me.
I believe you.
<3
The package might be the most powerful ability in the game.
I lol'd. I'm fairly sure its not the package that's making him op. It's the scalings on his ult. For someone with a decent lane phase and a really strong mid game, his ult's late game damage is obscene. Not to mention you can't build against him. I mean you never really could build against him before either so.... meh whatever. He reduces armor and MR now, and his burst is stupid. He's probably one of the best seigers in the game now. I mean... his ult has a .8 AD ratio for late game. fucking .8 on a spammable ability. He can chunk squishies for 25% of their hp on just one. More if he gets Magic Pen like Liandry's, which i've seen quite often.
Oh he's OP enough without it. The package itself just adds insult to injury as it's typically a free kill at the worst.
Originally I played morgana as an ap carry. Then I realized she's been nerfed and retooled to be support (according to mana costs and her default build). I do better in the first few levels now that I'm not running out of mana trying to be a harasser.

Well that is kind of like telling someone Azir is OP. You never see a good one so all of the information you have gathered tells you different. I didn't run into a good Azir until the other day and holy shit that is like a zed combined with an anivia.
I personally think the next sleeper OP is KogMaw.
He's suffering from the Tahm Kench syndrome. They'll just keep buffing him untill he explodes.
funny, i complained about soraka before she was perma ban and people gave me shit for it.
I don't know about having "shitter hive mind" and "deducted" in the same sentence...
Good. At least I'm not the only one who thinks the Boards are a fucking hivemind
If the boards were a "hive mind", there would be no reason to have the boards. Everyone would be thinking the same thing all the time.
The boards exibit something closer to a "mob mentality".
{quoted} I shit you not, someone told me she has "unfun patterns".
Have you actually played against a Soraka?
Have you bought Grevious wounds and BotrK? Have you focused her when she was very low on HP and mana after pandering her ADC to full health? Have you ever casualy walked out of her extremely buggy and unreliable silence? Have you dodged Startcall, one of THE MOST telegraphed and predictable abilities in the game right now? Have you forgotten that Soraka automatically means no CC to protect the back line, since she's in the back healing people and she has no solid form of crowd control she's extremely susceptible to being dunked on.

SHUT UP WIT DAT REALITY HEELZ UNFUN GAME!!!
Grievous wounds doesn't really counter Soraka, anymore. The real counterplay to Soraka is simple: zone her from her teammates, and never let her land Qs.

Seeing as how she had nearly a 70% banrate and still maintains a 54.46% banrate in high elo and you are being upvoted... yes it is pretty clear the boards have a shitter hivemind.
Unfun patterns is and definitely was an understatement.

So according to this, Soraka nice a nice 52.14% winrate correlating with her-average at best-8.75% playrate, with a 54.46% banrate. She falls off extremely hard at around 25-30 minutes, has a tendency to win games that last up to 40 minutes and then she just falls after that. Her winrate has steadily plummited since the preaseason, and keeps falling. I see nothing wrong with that.
Especially compared to this: http://champion.gg/champion/Trundle/Top http://champion.gg/champion/Volibear/Jungle http://champion.gg/champion/Janna/Support http://champion.gg/champion/Ahri/Middle http://champion.gg/champion/Brand/Support

None of that makes her any less unfun to play against. Nor does it change the fact that prior to her last nerfs she was very OP and is still oppressive. Her design is terrible.
Pretty sure "fun to play against"
Isn't very high on
Riot's priority list.
They're more concerned about whether or not you reasonably can.
Which is why they release illaoi, neither fun or able to be "reasonably laned against". I see what you mean. Their mission to ruin playing experience is going absolutely smashing.
Illaoi is overtuned. She still has counterplay in her kit.
Playing against her may not be fun or easy, but she falls under the same category as Garen right after the juggernaut patch.
She isn't overtuned at all, in all honesty if she was purely op her win rates would be much higher tham where they are now and I understand that, the issue is when a champion can make your life hell for 20 minutes and fall off like it's nothing. I tolerate Lee sin having this pattern because his kit has reasonable counterplay beyond "don't play".
No it's balanced because it has decent range-- Because it's on a low cooldown-- Because it does a lot of damage---
Well shit.
Because she will have no gold to build AP-- Because she has 325 movespeed with no mobility-- Because she does more damage to herself than the enemy team--
Well shit.
Can confirm. The most common case I've found is that if you put the zone under someone who used hourglass, they can sometimes flash out of the zone if they spam flash fast enough after hourglass ends.
It definitely needs a faster refresh rate.
exact same thing happens with Jinx chompers too
It's been a well known issue for forever. Like you said, it's most obvious when a champion is clearly standing on it and they dash/jump/flash out of it. What's odd is that even when the cast time begins after the silence, it still goes through, so it's kind of a double whammy. Soraka silences tristana, Tristana takes like an entire .5 second cast time jumping, tristana escapes. Makes no sense.

Trist's jump is also... interesting.
Well if Tristana cast her jump nothing will stop it before it starts (except killing her) since it isn't a channeled ability it won't get stopped by CC and will go off almost regardless as long as Tristana has already cast the ability
And the only way to stop it once it starts is with knock ups or pulls or such
Actually, if you knock-up/pull/stun her during the cast time but before the actual jump - she will still jump. If you land it during the jump, it will undo it. Cast times are interesting that way. Especially the really long ones, like Thresh hook or Lux ult.
The coding for persistent area-based CC likely needs a redo, since refresh rates make no sense in these cases. I imagine things only get jankier if you get CC reduction via Mercury's Treads/Elixir of Iron and suddenly end up freeing yourself of a zone's crowd control before it can refresh in time.
I wish solo lane soraka were better..
They'd need to at least clean up her auto animation for that. Shit takes so long right now any half-wit with less than 300 ping can punish her for last-hitting with their eyes closed.
I like seeing Soraka build ad and getting that last auto off at a running target >_> they slowly see the banana of death coming towards them....

It's a lot better than Janna's.
Meanhwile Swain. . .
Meanhwile Swain. . .
I'd take his over Janna's any day. Janna's has a shorter range and a very long response time which makes it incredibly easy to accidentally cancel.
No, we can't buff Soraka now, the boards have deemed her bullshit. So now she has to stay awful. I'm sorry, that's how the world works. Kappa.
You can silence under any player who uses Zhonya's, and if they have flash up (or any mobile ability, Kat Shunpo or Graves dash for instance) they can escape. You should have been able to bind them-- there was no way to walk out of it for how well you timed it. ... Too bad. That's not how the game works.
A nice fix that Wil broke soraka because I love broken:
Equinox now instantly snare champions that try to use dashes over it or in it
kinda like poppy w?
Poor
...
It's not just Soraka. Other silences are notoriously unreliable, like Garen's.
I can't tell you how many times I've silenced a Riven as Garen just for them to dash away mid-silence.
I posted on this a while ago. If you read the ability description you'll see how the silence is kinda ambiguous.
Active: Soraka creates a zone at a target location for 1.5 seconds, dealing magic damage to all enemy champions standing inside as it is cast. All enemy champions inside the zone are Silence icon silenced as long as they remain on it.
We see that the damage dealt clearly says it is on cast, it does not say they are silenced on cast, only as long as they remain on it. To me this says, like your title suggests, the silence check tick may be intentionally long.
