He FINALLY gets some well deserved harsh nerfs and they're ALREADY buffing him on the PBE by letting his ult crit (in return for shaving a tiny base of the damage)

6.11 isn't even LIVE for fucks sake and they're already making sure a golden boy isn't sub-optimal for long

EDIT: Changes have been REVERTED on PBE. Guess Riot realized that, while making crit build more appealing on Lucian, the ult changes would be an overall BUFF to armor shred Lucian as well, even if he wouldn't power spike as hard at 6.

I honestly think Lucian is so strong because the itemization is god-tier on him. Riot is cramming CDR onto every item they possibly can which makes Lucian strong. He's always had an AD caster playstyle to him and the CDR they've crammed on to everything just makes him ridiculous. I mean he only has to build 2 items and boots to have max CDR ( item 3142 > item 3071 > item 3158 ). It reminds me of way back when they "nerfed" him but made his dash have like a 2 second cooldown and he was insanely strong. Except now he just has to build how he normally would to achieve the same effect.

I like it, it means his ult does less damage if he goes the item 3142 + item 3071 build instead of a typical adc build plus is getting pricier as well

I'm with you on this one. Thought that was really unnecessary but maybe this would help lucian to decide whether going for conventional ADC build or just Youmuu & BC.

this is definitely not a buff man, the base damage on the bullets is getting lowered and you CAN crit IF you build crit chance, his current build doesn't have crit chance in it so in order to keep your damage up there you need to get some crit chance.

When a champion is forced to build crit chance his best bet is to increase both his AD and his AS, meaning that his current build is now obsolete and he has to go back to Infinity edge, zeal item and maaaaybe Black cleaver as a third or he could keep his high cdr with the current build but give up quite a lot of damage on his ult.

edit: his build before Korean looks good on paper too, since he doesn't really benefits from AS much because of his passive, getting raw AD + crit is very robust on Lucian, So Essence reaver + IE could work as well, all in all it's good bye to shredder machine Lucian.

I don't get the constant nerf-buffs to zed and the gang. Like, riot can gut characters like sejuani or Elise and say things like "oh well they had their time in the spotlight we should let others have their time to shine" but champions like Lee and Zed are out of meta for like two patches and suddenly they get buffed, and than when everyone is demanding needs, they give them a little lovetap and call it good.

Having his ult crit is actually incredibly smart. By doing that, they're making his Cleaver Yoummu's build obsolete in terms of damage.

That way, he'll have to go back to building more crit in order to optimize his damage.

You're completely missing the fucking point. They aren't trying to nerf Lucian overall, they are trying to kill Ghostblade Cleaver Lucian which is statistically the broken build. The old Essence Reaver Lucian is fine.

That idea is to nerf the non crit armor pen build. I believe that's a high estimate and they will tone it down further, relax lol.

Can I just say that when I do get to play ADC (I don't play it much because I hate being squishy) I enjoy playing item 3508 Lucian ? I like the playstyle of weaving in his auto attacks with his abilities and love the mana sustain.

It really sucks when Riot buffs an item to help a whole class that was sucking (fighters) and it sends another class (or in this case, a particular champion of that class) over the edge. Granted that's the nature of balance in a nutshell, fixing one thing can lead to problems in another.

I believe the point of that particular change is to make him overall less strong till he buys crit, hence nerfing the early game of the yommuu/BC.
