We want healthy gameplay...but raka still hasn't been adressed

So soraka has possibly one of the most toxic kits in league, factor in the fact she can build warmogs and sit in the back line healing and she already shuts down poke comps completely, now I'm not only addressing her healing, I'm pointing out something else....why the fuck is her silence instant? wasn't lack of counterplay the same reason veigars stun was changed, even then he had to be good to stun someone from a distance...now your throwing an instant AOE silence on a champ, essentially recreating the same problem you had before but making it easier to use, factor in the fact she can essentially win every lane with well timed ults and she will rarely be out of a fight due to her passive and you have a recipe for a champ that can single handedly carry a team with little skill and lacks real interaction....im sorry but something needs to be done about her, she just feels straight up unfair, if your going to make a healer, make sure she cant just build tank but still heal for insane amounts...prob gonna get a ton of downvotes, but still raka needs fucking balancing asap

Before making a thread about how X champion is op, go get some fresh air. Cool off. Try to think objectively, and not venting while you're on tilt after losing to whatever champion that may have been.

She is op....her kit excels at to many different things, she has decent early game damage, decent healing, decent disruption/zone control, decent global awareness, this is the same reason so many supports are get nerfed...their too fucking strong

KaRniVooL131 votes

lol raka and damage? did i read that correctly? LMAO

Xavanic1 votes

early game she can chunk pretty hard with her q's, mid to late she doesnt do dmg, but early its pretty fucking annoying how much she can do

Oleandervine3 votes

Her silence is instant, but deals no damage nor slows. It's easily escaped from.

Xavanic2 votes

Its still an instant fucking silence....im srry but if you 1v1 her, yes its usless, but when shes got her team who can kill you during that time and you have no way of casting anything, thats toxic....like hell, just give her, her old e, that one at least doesn't single handedly decide fights

TeCoolMage1 votes

if she silences you and your team kills you, it means she got in a closer range to use her only form of peel on a huge cooldown and you were going to die anyway.

And her silence actually isn't instant. There are a ridiculous number of times when someone TPs into her E and flashes or uses an ability right after.

Also Soraka's E encourages the same amount of movement if not less than something like Taric's stun or Swain's root, and there are almost no cases where someone casts an ability while under the zone of CC rather than walking out first so the silence is just as a clutch channel interrupt or to delay a combo.

VoidStaresBack1 votes

Equinox actually does do damage, but you're right, it doesn't slow unless she for some unknown reason picks up Rylai's, and the damage it actually does is minimal even with a full AP build.

MunchCrunchLunch3 votes

it does damage. the problem here is that soraka is supposed to counter poke comps. but she also counters all in comps with the silence. an assassin jumps. in get silenced gg

Ralanr1 votes

That's why silences suck.

KaRniVooL131 votes

just play CHO and silence her and ult her for true damage and use ignite

SGT Dingle Berry3 votes

I think the 17/4/9 Vayne was the problem.

Xavanic1 votes

nah, i could delete the vayne so long as raka wasnt there...but whenever i landed my e....silence and now im dead because im being focused and i have no way to defend myself

oSEXYPLATYPUSo3 votes

are there items in game that do % hp damage? true damage? reduce healing?

champs that can do that as well?

ok

build and pick accordingly

morris11 votes

Game health doesn't just refer to counterplay. Because if you buy item 3123 or item 3165 Soraka's team is basically 4v5, then you have a "support" that is comparable to assassins in how feast or famine it is.

Xavanic1 votes

I had morellos....she was still able to outheal my damage...

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

ignite? champs like vayne, darius, maokai, who do true damage ,bleed effects, % hp damage . etc

cho ? silence and true damage ?

summoner 14 item 3153 item 3812 item 3147 item 1419 item 3123 item 3034 item 3151 item 3033

you dont pick sustain dps fighters vs a soraka you pick burst damage... and you force her out of fights... by bursting her down... kill her 1st then she isnt able to heal the rest of team

bad arcade kitty2 votes

healthy gamplay = i want to kill them without them being healed, baww

poor soraka is barely viable

Xavanic1 votes

I mean, ive seen her alot lately, so obviously shes somewhat viable, im not saying take away power, just shift it towards one focus rather then making her an amazing jack of all trades

Soraka is not the only champ to abuse tanky items, and the issue with a lot of tanky itemization is that it's too generically good. We've had tank Yasuo, tank Ekko, tank Fizz and even tank Akali, to name but a few, and the issue has always been the same: squishy champions can negate a core weakness through tanky itemization, and make such good use of those items that they become seriously unhealthy. Soraka is no different, and the fact that the most powerful regen in the game is based off of raw health, rather than health regeneration, means she gets to sidestep her core weakness (low hp5) and get the most out of her healing by playing passively.

I agree that Soraka is not in a great spot either, though, and I think some of her balance changes made her worse overall. Her Rejuvenation mechanic, especially, carries tremendously low-visibility power, and rewards Soraka mostly for playing passively, since using it in-combat "wastes" some of the regen. She's also a bit too good at just staying back and poking from a distance, which makes her more difficult to reach than is necessary. Here's my dream changelist for her:

  • Remove Rejuvenation: It's not a good mechanic, and the HoT on top of the W heal makes for healing with no downtime that isn't all that easy to gauge. Reverting back to Soraka's instant self-heal, but making it scale with base health, rather than flat values and AP (i.e. health without bonuses from itemization) would make it easier to recognize.
  • Remove her basic ability damage, reduce her basic ability ranges, maybe give her more AD: Soraka should not be able to poke. In general, she should not be able to do anything unless she puts herself at risk, so forcing her to put herself in basic attack range to lay down threat means she wouldn't be able to hang back in lane and be useful at the same time.
  • Change her innate to make her healing increase with missing health, adjust her healing accordingly: Soraka's current passive is at least fun to know about (she's an ambulance!), but in practice it often leads her to just use low health allies to zip away from fights. More than any other healer, Soraka also feels really irritating to play against when she gets to negate all of an opponent's damage all the time, and so her healing should be weak when engaging in poke wars, but should be stronger when she or her target is on the verge of death.
  • Make her W healing scale with her target's max health, and not flat values: One of the issues with her W healing is that it ramps up way too quickly in lane, allowing Soraka to heal for huge flat amounts and negate too much damage, but then stays at around those same values for the rest of the game. A target max health scaling would a) allow Soraka to heal tanks at lot better, and thereby encourage her to put herself closer to the front of combat, and b) allow her healing to scale naturally over time without ever ending up too low or too high at any given point.

After all this, mayyybe she could even afford to be a manaless champion (she'd have so many other gates and restrictions to her power that mana wouldn't be necessary in holding her back), but the same could likely be said for many other supports, which would involve a class-wide rework. The TL;DR to all this is that Soraka should really be forced to stay within combat range of her opponents in order to be useful at all, and only then could she be allowed to have the powerful healing engine she was promised with her rework.

Something I have always thought she deserved is to have a similar system to taric heal, where it builds up as she leaves it, and spamming it makes it almost non exisitant

Just going to reiterate some thoughts I had from two weeks ago about sustain.

Specifically in botlane. People usually consider Soraka toxic for the reasons I mentioned above.

If too strong she creates a passive environment where she controls aggro in the lane. If her ADC is aggro, they can run over their opponents with Soraka staying behind to keep them topped off. If she has a farm ADC then she can make sure that they essentially never die, especially if that ADC is slippery like Ezreal.

However, not everybody wants a high octane botlane full of fighting. These people (and people who abuse the fact that her opponents want to go aggro regardless of Raka's presence) play Soraka for various reasons, however her dedicated mains simply love her playstyle, and I wouldn't want to deprive them of their favorite champion just because some people don't like her healing. I agree she should be balanced however, and she definitely isn't strong unless she's in the right hands. However a lot of her strength is played up simply because everybody seems to want to fight, and this is what she punishes the most.

League is a objective focused game, not a kill focused one. Games can be won without a single drop of blood being shed.

Note that I play and do enjoy Soraka as a champion and for art/story reasons.

But in many instances people are bloodthirsty. They want their kdas padded. Raka denies or at the least makes it difficult. This is one reason why many people call her toxic.

But remember that getting stomped in a game doesn't mean the offending champ is op. More likely you didn't have the tools to shut her down.

Xavanic1 votes

The problem is she also allows her bot lane to be one of the most bloodthirsty fucks with little to no backlash as they will ALWAYS win the trade, meaning she has now pushed you under your tower will the enemy adc last hits in the middle of the lane, meaning now there is nearly a 15-30 cs difference that will continue to grow as soraka zones bot, and with decent warding most junglers cant even gank them, as it currently stands there is no healthy way for soraka to exist in this game with her current kit

I see your concerns, and I honestly thought I put counter strategems in my post, but I guess not lol. One of the many griefs of copying and pasting on mobile.

She can be beaten.

Here is my thread, which gives a lot more context.

For a quicker tip use excutioners calling. It kills her sustain so hard it isn't funny.

They nerfed her early game heals hard to the point where her lane phase is not instant win anymore. Soraka is now more of less subjugated to "lose lane, win game" kind of champ as with her nerf to her early heals, her ADC cannot harass or all in as successful previously. The result of this nerf makes her lane more gank reliant but the success of that is even less because of her lack of hard CC compared to the likes of Thresh.

Xavanic1 votes

shes still pretty damn strong with poke adcs, as they can rarely be touched in lane

Ralanr1 votes

That's why league (and castle seiges) have problems with healers.
