Remember when Orianna was "OP"?

Every once in a while Orianna pops up as the "OP" champion to play. She then receives 0 nerfs or buffs and proceeds to fall out of popularity, like clockwork. It happens at least once a year, and I'm really surprised it hasn't happened yet considering she does really well with champions that initiate well and this is the tank meta. Good job not crying about Orianna guys! Proud of you all!

See this guy sees what I'm getting at. I'm not saying she's OP, I'm just saying that this is the one champion that consistently goes through this cycle every year.

That depends on who you are asking.

When Orianna was initially released, she actually was overpowered. Riot even explained that they don't believe a more complex champion should be explicitly more powerful than a less complex champion.

But the more recent surge and drop in popularity was more like what we'd like to see in meta cycles.

Well, right now I think it's because she has a lot of bad lane matchups in the meta right now. Azir and Cass both beat her in lane, and factoring out the potential wombo power, outscales her as well. I don't think she was ever "OP", just consistently good.

in my own personal opinion orianna rocks my socks off... amazing shield, as well as flat ar/mr.... fun other utility abilities, speed baby..... as well as an interrupting ult.... how is she anything but op?

=^D

one day i hope to be able to afford her and support with her in bot lane... yup... i said it

She is broken though, and she always has been. She does way too much damage for how much utility she has. All other utility midlaners pale in comparison. Theres a reason she has been pick/ban at the past three Worlds, and its because she does everything that other utility midlaners do while also doing hella AoE damage.
