Anybody Else Concerned For Varus?

With his long Q cooldown that doesn't start until after it's fired, he's really not very...mage-ey, despitebbeing considered a secondary mage.

Because he's so immobile and doesn't really have any good steroids he can use at-will, he's also not a particularly outstanding Marksman.

Both of these things have me worried that the new items and ADC buffs will just leave out any reason to pick Varus. It seems to me like having a strong ADC will be way too important to have a Varus. And I like my Varus, we go way back to my first 6300 champ.

Thoughts?

No. He's still fairly strong: Has some hard poke, ult is amazing CC, deals HP% damage, and benefits from the new item changes as well.

While I agree his poke is okay (he outreaches even Lux, Ziggs and Xerath), he's too easily run down and killed to be valued just for his poke.

But for a mid-reach adc, he's too immobile and doesn't have enough zone control to be any good at landing autos consistently. Especially now that slows overlap, since his ult takes 2 full seconds to snare more than one guy. That's plenty of time to delete Varus since the Juggernaut patch.

The new Death's Dance and Essence Reaver seem like they suit AD caster Varus pretty well. He's going to benefit a ton from the Last Whisper changes: the 15% increased dmg and GW will apply to his Q as well. So he'll do more dmg to tanks/bruisers (something he fell off on late game) or be able to prevent people from super far away to regain health (which will be really irritating for some characters). The armor pen on Maw and increased AD on youmuu's are also good for hm.

He still needs a rework of his passive/w to make him a better ADC though.

Especially if the Silver Bolts trading it's flat for 12% is accurate...
