What do you feel when you realize that the person you're laning against is much better than you?

I hadn't had that experience for long a while, but I was taking a little ranked break the past week. Three days ago I got to lane to against a Gold 1 Ashe, as a B5 player. I could literally FEEL how much better than me she was, and it genuinely filled me with fear. I tensed up, got antsy, panicked essentially. Unfortunately for her, she was by far the best one on her team- I got a few kills on her support and our team crushed theirs. Even though I ended the game 9/2 with 1k more gold than her, I still did 2/3rds of her damage.

I don't feel like I'm supposed to feel that way, afraid of a challenging opponent. Is that normal?

I just downplay it as luck.

Obviously I'm Challenger skill, so he can't actually be better than me.

always feel like you will win. the players are not that good as is. You should get excited to get challenged so you can get better

If they're abusing a cancer champ, which of course they are because it's LoL, rage at them until I secure another chat ban. If they're legitimately good, and doing well with an underused champ, compliment them. I've been inspired to make some questionable champ purchases after getting my ass handed to me by that champ, after completely underestimating them.

Kind of hopeless? Like I know if I'm at a disadvantage because a champ is generally better than mine, that's alright. I'll still fight. Skill can overcome that. But when they're just good? That's a little crushing.

I go back to referencing http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/tips-tricks/fEyNBKpx-the-climb-how-to-win-trades-in-lane, and all my problems go away.

I think it was best said by Afromoo, "I don't strive to be the best...I strive to be the best I KNOW I can be..."

I play passive, defend first turret as long as I can and care to not die, after first turret falls I freeze lane in front of second turret and farm farm and farm.
