What am I doing wrong?

Niyumi··1 votes·1,455 views

I have over 4,000 games in silver. Over 1,000 just this season. I maintained a 6:1 KDA until recently, I do my job every game, I play well, I win lane and take objectives, I know every champ in the game, I pick according to what my team needs... I just don't know what more I can do. Either my team is just retarded, and can't play at all (like, seriously, I'll have 2 out of 40 deaths on my team, yet have 80% kill participation), or the enemy team is a bunch of smurfs or something.

You must first not be a reality denial guy. Realize that you are silver and thus bad, and have many things to improve on. Do you accept that? If you do, that is the first step to rising.

Sure, I'm bad, but I don't really think I'm silver either. A while ago, I went against Riot Rainslight in a game where Rioters were playing with people. He's challenger, and was playing Anivia. I came out of laning phase 13/2, and was massively winning lane, but then my team just kind of pittered out, and he got super fed and one shot me.

I tunnel vision a bit, and I get frustrated easy, but outside of that I don't really play like a silver (at least in my biased opinion).

BluePolarizer2 votes

nope I'm pretty sure you play like a silver because you aren't consistent. Oh, so you went 13/2 against a challenger (actually D4)... this one time... I guess? K then why are you worried about smurfs then? YOU are the one that's playing at a diamond level right? You are worried about smurfs because you aren't consistent. You don't know if you actually do play at a diamond level or got lucky. And guess what's holding you back? Your excuses.

Quit making excuses. You still lose to silvers just as often as not. If you didn't, you won't be silver. That is what needs improving, not anything else. Literally, you can be doing everything the exact same way, and if you'd just change your mindset, you'd be at least gold.

There are multiple times that I've beaten diamond players, plat players, all that. (And Rainslight has a banner for challenger, so they were challenger last season)

Smurfs don't really worry me, since I can usually hold my own. But, even if I do fine in my lane, bot lane has 6 deaths to my 0-1, and then the person I'm laning against comes back much stronger than me, and I just can't do anything.

I don't lose to silvers. I start every game doing great. But, when my team starts feeding and the enemy team is all stronger than me, I really can't do much.

BluePolarizer2 votes

if you weren't losing to silvers, you would not be stuck in silver. You are obviously losing to silvers or you won't be silver.

And if you weren't worried about smurfs, you wouldn't have even mentioned smurfs in your original post.

you wanna know what you sound like to me right now? just search on youtube "reality denial guy to diamond".

Niyumi1 votes

Okay, if it was just me, I wouldn't mention smurfs. But, this game is a 5v5, and I'm not by myself. So, if there's a smurf who can't kill me, he's going to be roaming to other lanes where he can net kills, and then he'll take that advantage in power and gold and be able to beat me a lot easier.

If it was just me, I wouldn't be silver. I can guarantee that. ^^

OK then. You are perfect, or at least plat+ level, and it's your teams holding you back. You are the unluckiest person in the world. You always get the worst teams. if you win, it's due to your own personal skill only, absolutely zero luck. Every time you lose, it is due to pure luck only. There's no way out of silver, once you are there, you are there forever. That's what you are telling me right now.

Niyumi1 votes

By no means pefect, but definitely not silver either.

But, yeah, I've always had the worst luck you could imagine, in and out of game. So I really don't expect good things to happen at this point. If I win, it's due to a combination of me giving up on having fun and playing a gimme champ, my team not being retarded, and a bit of luck. If I lose though, it's because my team gave up 40 kills while I have all of two deaths.

Once you're in silver, there's no way out without a premade (or a duo in the old days).

BluePolarizer2 votes

man you should've told me that when I got out of silver solo in 3 weeks when I was first started ranked.

Niyumi1 votes

Yeah, and I was placed in bronze 3 this season, got to S1 within a couple days. I'm thinking Riot is just intentionally putting me in games with morons at this point, really. I go from gold promos to S5 to gold promos to S5 to gold promos... Never ends.

damn man! Silver 1! you're high up now! rolling with the big boys! you might've even made, gasp, gold 5!

you give everyone this advice. Never good to give everyone the same advice. Automatic fail.

It's not a fail if it's good advice. Realizing your own inadequacies, your weaknesses, and working on improving them is the first step to being better at something.

It's more than one way to get better.

Milodic Mellodi1 votes

True, but no one's saying it's the only way to get better. Only that it's an extremely important step for it.

Smurfs in silver? Don't do that in silver.

I pick according to what my team needs...

What should I do then? Pick for myself? That kind of seems counter intuitive. : /

One trick pony a champion that you find fun. It'd be better if it was someone who scales, but anyone is fine. Play ranked to have fun, this is still a game, but you're only going to put yourself on tilt because of your teammates. (Dynamic queue exists, by the way! You could use it) Worry about yourself and focus on your own mistakes, and that's all! :)

in silver? he shouldn't need to do that.

Based on your previous games, stick to playing jhin adc and pick support as your secondary role. Playing support will make you a better adc and vice versa. If you are an adc main it doesn't make sense to pick another lane as a secondary role. If you use playmaking support you will get to gold as long as you are competent.

Niyumi1 votes

I'm not an ADC main though. :P I'm a fill main, and have been since I started playing. I can play several champions in every lane and role, and can adapt to many comps and teams. But, it seems like whatever lane I'm not in just feeds to all hell. If I'm the jungler, I usually get stupid fed, but everyone feeds, even if I gank continually.

Ryzing2Diamond1 votes

In Bronze and Silver you can't play a supportive role and expect your team to carry you. You Have to carry them. Play a carry jungler or one of the three main roles, Top/Mid/ADC. Focus on making plays and getting objectives. Ping madly if you have to, to get your team to group up. Ask them too. It's not a big deal to die a couple times in Silver. It's only when you get to upper Gold/Plat that you have to focus on limiting your enemies lead.

Your teams are stupid. They are not as a good as you.

Swiftstrike41 votes

I looked at your stats. They look pretty good. I figured you were embellishing a bit regarding the stats.

Some trends I noticed by glancing at your stats:

  1. You play too many champions - try to get really good with a couple per role
  2. You play too many roles - Pick 2 or 3 roles to play ranked in. That's it. Stick to that. Dodge if you don't feel comfortable with the role you get.
  3. Your CS per game is low or on the lower end - You KDA is good but the CS average per game with some champs is about 20 or 30 lower than it should be. Focus less on killing people and more on CSing.
  4. Carrying from the support role is hard in lower Elo. You could abandon the role completely or continue to play it, but I will tell you that supporting in Silver is hard. Your ADC will be all over the board in terms of skill and most support mains are better than their actual ranking.

Other things I noticed. You play a lot of Lee Sin relative to other champions. This champ drops off and if you team does not end the game early you become less useful. You may want to main a different jungler whose utility and damage improves as the game goes on. You will be in longer games play in silver. The same can be said with teemo. Teemo is an early pressure split-push champion that becomes increasingly ANNOYING as the game wears on, but drops off the longer the game goes. You may have success in lane with him but this may not translate to wins.

Your Darius, Ahri, and GP all look good. Keep playing them. Your Jhin looks good as well, however, your CS average per game is WAY too low for the role. This tells me you may win lane but do not focus on pushing your lead. You should be floating close to 200 per game at least as the ADC.

Your KDA is high with several champions, but you also have a lot of deaths. In fact your KDA is a bit deceiving because on several of your better KDAs you still die as frequently as you kill, you just participate in a lot of teamfights. This is most noticeable with your support roles. Not saying this is bad, just saying you may want to focus more on limiting your deaths.

How are we supposed to know what you're going wrong without videos?

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

ur good at the game. most people. however are not. in every elo. i'd say 20% deserve to be there. while the 80% others are just bad. why are they there? well someone has to be. there is a number of people. that will make it there. there is no "oh you have to be that good to make it to diamond". people get carried and people carry. some people get carried more than not and those usually end up on a team end up losing.

SaltyKracka1 votes

...If you're that good, figure out what's going wrong.

If it's not laning phase, work on your midgame, objectives, and team fighting.

Otherwise...honestly, 1000 games in Silver this season? I've had like 30, and I'm in Silver 1. Maybe you just belong in Silver at this point.

FrostySkipper1 votes

Hmm, I'm silver as well, so I don't have a lot to say. You may win your lane, but what about your overall presence in the game? A lane is feeding. Do u help them snowball and shut their lane opponent down? Do u help the lane u succesfully ganked shove the wave to the turret to deny cs. Do u tax the lane that u just ganked? Are you aware of where the enemy jung might be even without vision? Just some small things to take note of. Also I look at my minimap every 3-4 sec.
