Enable voice chat for those with high honor

It would be nice if you could communicate with your team easily with voice chat. Give it to those who only have high honor or even the highest level of honor. Not being able to say precise shot calling during the game is what leads to a lot of toxic experiences.

People who earn honor 5 are clearly non toxic people right? I can't see this going wrong

they are toxic in chat anyways. the only reason people are toxic is usually because they can't talk to you about what they want/their plans. My lanes would probably rarely flame me if I could explain what I'm doing.

I've had times where I've explained to my adc why I couldn't save them, and they still proceeded to flame me. Just because you can explain it doesn't mean they wont stop being toxic.

Because afterwards is a different situation than before. It's a massive difference if you can tell your adc/support to engage with you instead of going in and praying they follow

I support this, there will always be high honor players who are surprisingly toxic once in awhile but nobody can control that.

Only real problem is this might be seen as an "unfair advantage" for being honorable....which is kind of funny.

well technically dishonorable players are at a disadvantage whenever they're chat restricted.

There are many players with honor lvl 5 that are toxic so won't work

Icy Hot Shoto3 votes

Considering how many high honor players I've seen be toxic... I'm not sure how well this would work.

Who's going to monitor it? Is Riot going to have to hire more people just to sit around and listen to voice chat logs? Are we gonna have to wait months for those people to get punished because Riot has a back log of reports?

Or will they just be able to be toxic with no punishment?

Vreivai1 votes

Or maybe they'll try to make an algorithm with voice recognition and you'll have people getting banned for saying "kill the Pyke."

LetMeAfkPlss3 votes

no that would be annoying just because you are good at not offending people doesn't mean you are good at the game and deserve to tell me what to do no thanks

Cheini3 votes

rather, "allow voice chat for players with few correct reports"

aaaand i am still against it because of the advantage (which is quite important btw, remember premades get +50 lp opponents), and sadly people change for the worse sometimes.. esp after a bad game etc

Meteora7074 votes

its actually a disadvantage for the high honor people as they have worse game knowledge than everyone else at their elo :^)

this... is logical

and true, looking at my games xdddd

i get honored quite often and stuff BUT am HORRIBLE at clicking on the correct place, panic etc thus i wont get past gold ever.. qq

Open voice chat to all. No matter what honor someone has, you can mute them if you have to, just like in chat. But we 100% need voice chat. In every game out there, voice chat has saved countless team based play. Why Riot won't do it with it being 2019 is something beyond my understanding.

Tuition Fee2 votes

Agreed. Whenever I use discord, no one is ever toxic. Not a single time. This might just be me, but I personally would find it extremely difficult to cuss someone out when talking to them, as opposed to on a keyboard.

but what when the honor reset hits?

Sęraph2 votes

This is a terrible idea. The honor system is currently broken to all hell. Just enable voice chat for everyone, remove text chat, i can guarantee there will be less toxicity.

If someone is annoying, people are more likely to mute them if they hear them.

For lack of a better way to put this, people are scared to say the things they do in chat because they fear verbal confrontation.

Use call of duty for an example. If someone starts being a twatwaffle in chat everyone mutes them. If someone is toxic in LoL chat they just start typing back at them. Do you ever see someone in CoD talking back to the people causing problems?

Honestly voice chat muting is the most satisfying thing ever. It feels SOOOOO good to do it to someone. That clear open view of the sky you get when you hear that :----- ----: screeching verbally abusive maybe drunken and drugged up self threatening people and their moms just stop all at once. ESPECIALLY when they don't have that 9 seconds to think of their retort so that they sound at least SOMEWHAT intelligent, you dont even feel bad for it. Ahhh feels good.

I don't think the idea OP proposed will work all that well(it wouldn't hurt either), but I do know that enabling voice chat for everyone is opening the gates to hell. I'm not sure that it'd reduce toxicity but it for sure would make it much harder to ban the flamers. The main reason people flame others is because it's "just the internet." A lot of them seem to claim to be perfectly fine people irl too.

Annoying yeah, but I'm not sure about if they are flaming.

That's true for the flamers who also have anxiety and are trying to build up a better self-image by bringing others down. I don't think they make up the majority of flamers in-game though.

Pandemic Punch2 votes

No. If people want to talk to each other, they can use discord.

No. If people want to talk to each other, they can use discord.

Yet the majority of online multiplayer games still got in game voice chat even tho skype and teamspeak has been a thing for ages.

Dumb af logic

Enable for everyone. They are to concerned about toxicity but so many games have voice chat for PUGs.

Just have a queue type where you "join team" you wait as long as it takes to get your position and once the team has 5 they begin queue. We can all play the game the way it was meant to be played with voice communication.

Having joined a fair number of random discord I can say there is far less toxicity when you can actually talk with someone.

WAZZZUP5001 votes

yeah, but ofc muting would have to be a feature. And the main issue is that monitoring voice chat is way more difficult than monitoring the chat (there'll always be a bad apple in there somewhere).

Ravenborn1 votes

People honor people who perform well and carry the game, not the ones who are "chill" or friendly.

WAZZZUP5001 votes

Yeah but are you gonna honor somebody who was running a b-b-q the whole game?

Ackelope2 votes

I know that I and my friends honor primarily based on attitude, and performance secondary. Some of them tend to lead into each other, and one small set of experiences doesn't necessarily speak to an entire population, but I wouldn't be surprised if a solid portion of honors are legitimately handed out for decent attitudes.

MiniJurista1 votes

Eh no, that would be such a huge advantage, if u wanna comm with voice chat link a discord server, next

LaceUpXX1 votes

That seems like an unfair communication advantage.

Stróc Dúnmharú1 votes

I've seen plenty of people who get to 5 honor but are still scummy people to have to talk to. Bad idea.

BlackEyesBlue1 votes

This is a horrible idea!

Make it for everyone or no one. And frankly, with how much they catter to China? They already think League's chat system is problematic. It's not going to happen.
