The state of balance over the season is appalling
I could complain about ADCs dealing too much, the issue of tanks not being changed in the tank update, tanks becoming more broken, bruisers being useless because ADCs melt them and CC locks them down way too much, onhit junglers still sucking, or mage itemization being horrifically uneven in power, but I've decided on the general topic of balance itself using a great example known as Bramble Vest.
The fact Bramble Vest was approved to be on the PBE, stayed on the PBE unnerfed, was not hotfixed, and has now been repeatedly ignored for multiple patches just shows the drastic ignorance, incompetence, or both in today's balance. It's just a good example of both bad decisions, bad development, and hypocrisy in the logic used for the direction of the game.

Bramble Vest was approved by whatever playtesting team. That's the first problem. Why is the testing team so bad that approved such an item? Multiple characters deal more damage to themselves attacking someone who has Bramble Vest.
-
Whoever is running PBE maybe shouldn't, maybe. This item was allowed to stayed as it is, invalidating fighting during laning and multiple champions, and was kept at 900 gold. Why? What? How? Why is this item more efficient than fucking Executioner's Calling, which we ALREADY KNEW was a huge, gamewarping balance issue, allowed to exist?
-
Whoever looks at current patch data either isn't looking close enough or the data they're getting might not be able to show this issue. I'll give some latitude on this, but I think someone at Riot should have looked at the patch notes, thought, "Wow! That sounds really broken and will probably make Aatrox and Irelia unplayable." and then proceed to run into the balance department asking such serious question of why this was let through.
-
Same deal again. Why is this item not being looked at every patch? Does Riot literally have 0 bruiser players at all, and, if they do, why aren't they speaking up?
-
But the worst part is that this item is just hypocritical. The game's direction of design has been based around "skill expression", but there is no skill expression with Bramble Vest at all. Flat AD/AP can be valued in skill by landing abilities. Defensive stats gain more use if you dodge abilities, though less skill expressive. Your opponent attacking you makes them take more damage. What's the hell is the skill in that? Landing a taunt? I doubt and disagree that is enough to qualify for skill expression because other champions can build this item. I've already talked about Executioner's Calling and how we know how much of a balancing error is the GW status effect in the state of the game, and I already compared it (it's more gold efficient). Even worse, this item was introduced in some random patch. Not a preseason or mid season patch, a normal one, and with it came a huge flaw. Riot, currently, is refusing to nerf multiple broken things for the sake of competitive play and competitive integrity, so why was such an overpowered and gamewarping item introduced that massively forced the meta put into existence?
That's how bad the game is. An item this broken, with history of similar items showing it as a bad idea, getting through multiple nets of checking and multiple patches of the game unnerfed, untouched.
This is one example of many. Why do problems like this exist though multiple checks? Why does no one take responsibility for this gigantic fuck ups? I think after multiple issues like this, maybe someone should be fired from Riot Games. I don't know who exactly or enough into it, but I think that if you refuse to do your job, like any other line of work, as developer or game tester or statistic tracker, you should lose your job. This should set some kind of small precedent: If you repeatedly mess up your job, you will be fired. There's no excuse for ignorance, incompetence, or whatever else is causing such stupidity to occur, and there's no excuse of the lacking of taking responsibility for these actions.
