" just CC him "

Does anyone else hate this advice on how to effectively deal with a champ? It's as if I didn't already know that. There is not a single champ in League that benefits from not being able to attack and move. Honestly if your advice to defeat a specific champ is to just CC him, either you need to be giving better advice, or the champ in question needs balancing.

Or. Or.

Or.

You can save any hard CC abilities you have for when they show up, rather than blowing them all on the first thing that gets in range.

Its valid advice. It's like saying "damage counters Jinx".

Sure, damage counters any champion.

But there's a HUGE difference between full tank Rammus taking 2000 magic damage and Jinx taking 2000 magic damage. In the first case Rammus doesn't even get to half HP, taunts you then deletes you with base damage, in the 2nd, Jinx is vaporized before she can even auto.

CC counters any champ but there's a huge difference between Irelia item 3153 item 3078 item 3143 item 3047 item 3065 item 3110 being CCed and Jinx item 3072 item 3087 item 3031 item 3046 item 3035 item 3006 being CCed.

For some reason, this seems like another Katarina/Master Yi thread...

there's a big difference between ccing an irelia and a katarina.

You seem misguided.

Let me put your side of the argument in a new light. All champions benefit from AD, so why do people tell you only to build AD on specific champions?

The answer in a single word; Effectiveness

The advice is shortened, but accurate.

The full version of that advice is "CC them during <insert important ability>."

I'll give you an example.

How do you beat Katarina? CC her when she ults. How do you beat Trynd? CC him when he ults. How do you beat Malzahar? CC him when he ults. How do you beat Master Yi? (hard) CC him when he ults.

So, obviously, the implication is to save your CC until they use that key ability that makes them most dangerous.

So you have a team comp of jungle Yi, top Tryn, mid Malz, and bot Vayne and Sona. Don't worry just CC them. You continue to lose the game. WTF my team couldn't CC them GG. Give better advice.

BluePolarizer1 votes

That team comp is about as viable as 5 ADCs. You can't win with 5 ADCs, why do you think you can win with 0 hard CC?

Onimus Terlain1 votes

From your OP: "Does anyone else hate this advice on how to effectively deal with a champ?" A champ.

Your retort here just seems petty as you're straying from your original complaint.

If you were truly facing that team comp, save your CC for the first to create a serious threat.

If Malz ults your adc, CC him.

If Trynd ults and dives your APC, CC him.

It's scenario specific as to what the best target would be in your example.

I dont know why this is being downvoted, honestly. This is not inherently good, solid advice. That's common god damn sense. This was said with Zed, leblanc, fizz, and many others. Yes, you can cc them, wow! (I didnt know that, thanks, you're a big help!) But maybe instead of just spitting that shit out, you could, you know, give valid fucking details on what champ they're asking how to fight. Maybe so they're not just pissing in the wind because you told them to 'just cc them.'

I hate people who give vague shitty answers. It honestly suggests that A.) you probably dont know how to fight them properly, and B.) you dont care, and you probably shouldnt be saying anything if you're not willing to actually give advice.

CC is most often the advice for dealing with anyone tanky who also damages heavily over time, such as: Tryndamere MasterYi Poppy Udyr Riven Sejuani Olaf Mordekaiser Jax Hecarim DrMundo Aatrox Yorick Shyvana Fiora. Problem is, these champions are supposed to be countered with CC while you're also supposed to be CCing their ADC and APC. This often leaves a team having to split having 3 champs save their own ADC while 2 champs face the other 4 on their team, the ones that are actually ADC and APC. It seems like if there were a group of these champions, they'd just wreck face all day, because the other team doesn't have 10 champions to chomp down such a team.
