Cassiopeia- a hypothetical gameplay update

Cassiopeia's a champ that's been very multifaceted during her time in League. With her rework players have been streamlined towards one style of play, that is, trying to pump out DPS with her Twin Fangs as their primary goal. I've tried to create a modified kit that leans towards more emphasis on her poisons. Please let me know what you think!

Passive: Serpent's Venom.

*Whenever Cassiopeia poisons an enemy champion, it's venom will remain for a few seconds.. Attacking them with basic attacks or Twin Fang will proc the poison; activating a different debuff depending on the poison. *

Q: Noxious Blast

Damage has been increased. Serpent's Venom: Cassiopeia's Noxious Blast exhausts her target, reducing their damage output for a few seconds.

W: Miasma

> Damage has been increased. Serpent's Venom: Cassiopeia's Miasma eats away the flesh of her target, reducing their physical and magical resistances for a few seconds.

E: Twin Fang

> Cooldown no longer resets, regardless of if Cassiopeia's target is poisoned. (No longer does the cooldown refresh to .5 seconds if target is poisoned, now behaves more like a standard nuke spell with a normal cooldown. For example, 5 to 10 seconds, or something of the sort.) Damage increased based on target's missing health. (Execute mechanics, like Elise's Spider Q, and Fizz's W active.) Utility: hitting an enemy champion with Twin Fang will activate Serpent's Venom, debuffing Cassiopeia's target depending on the poison lingering.

R: NEW- Ultimate: Apatilos

>Cassiopeia infects her target with her Apatilos poison, dealing significant damage over time. If the target dies with the Apatilos poison still lingering, they implode, spreading the poison in an AOE. Any other enemy champions who were exposed to the poison will have it applied to them. Serpent's Venom: Cassiopeia's Apatilos destroys her opponents from the inside out, dealing even more damage.

With her updated kit, Cassiopeia sashays around the outskirts of battle, constantly hindering her foes with her potent poisons, and debilitating them further with her Serpent's Venom Passive. With her Twin Fang and Apatilos Ultimate poison, Cassiopeia can shrewdly steer clear of direct confrontation, and close in while her prey is weakened for devastating results before slinking back to the back lines, waiting once again for her time to strike.

I left out numbers just to see if the kit could stand on it's own, which is for the better as I've learned on the boards. Oh, before anyone wonders, I got 'Apatilos' from the greek word 'apati̱lós', which roughly translates to 'deceitful.' Fun fact, Miasma is a poisonous force in Greek mythology, basically a plague like thing that kills people in a way similar to an archetypal poison. I just learned this today because I couldn't think of a name for her Ultimate Poison. Speaking of the ult, is it too similar to Brand's ulti? I was inspired by his as an idea, but even so I really liked the idea of it. Please tell me what you think of it!

"Poison takes so many forms."

"Good to the last drop." "Just one touch is all it takes." Cassiopeia

it doesn't suit her identity as high dps single targeted mid-range mage. dps must not have an execution mechanics.

Indeed, Cassiopeia's high DPS has always been one of her defining traits, but it's not her ONLY one. Her other spells did good damage to, but with the rework everything seems less... dynamic.

Of course, in what I was proposing, Twin Fang doesn't have the Reset mechanic at all, being more of a normal nuke like Annie Q. The idea was that she would sneak it in on wounded opponents rather than getting in their face to do high damage.

Unless you're talking about counting the DOTs as DPS, which I don't think you were based on your post.

By the way, does anyone know how to reply to multiple posts at once?

It's a cool idea but yeah, execute doesn't go well with DPS. Main problem was also the oppressiveness of her Q during laning phase, and bringing back the damage might not be the best of ways. Puts way too much pressure on the opponent to dodge.

Do you mean counting her DOTs as DPS? Because with this hypothetical kit Cassiopeia doesn't get the cooldown refresh on her Twin Fang, regardless of being poisoned. It'd be more of a standard nuke like Annie's Q. Sorry if I wasn't clearer, I updated the post.

About her Q, the apparent oppressiveness of it was one of the reasons I was being vague about the amount of increased damage output. The base damage right now is the same as before, a respectable 75- to 235, but the ratio's pretty weak, only at .45, down from 8. Still, let's compare Cassi's old Q to other 'poke' spells of similar mages:

Ahri's Orb of Deception : 280 base at max rank, .7 ap ratio. Half true damage, on return. Syndra's Dark Sphere : 230 at max rank, .6 ap ratio. Does about 265, .69 AP Ratio considering the bonus damage to champions. Zigg's Bouncing Bomb : 255 at max rank, .65 ap ratio at max rank. Zyra's Deadly Bloom : 210 at max rank, .65 ap ratio. Keep in mind that her plants could get in 1-2 to shots, adding roughly 125-250 base and .2-.4 ap ratio with 1 or two shots at level 18. Lissandra's Ice Shard : 215, .65 ap ratio. Karthus Q: 240, .6 ap ratio on a single target.

All these are these champion's Q's as well. Felt they were best comparisons as low CD, pass through minions (somehow) skillshots. :P

Thinking on your point, I can see why getting bombarbed with high damage Q'S was frustrating, but even so, I think bumping it to like .7 is more than reasonable, as unlike these other champs Cassiopeia's Q is her ONLY true poke spell, and it's range is average. Her Miasma did good damage, but it was and more than ever is more of a zoning tool, and Twin Fang makes her get close to her opponents. It's not just that Cassies spammed Q and did nothing else because they could, but against most of their opponents mid, (aside from Ryze or similar champs, who got dumped on by Cass for this reason) it was more that they should. A lot of mages mid have more than one poke spell, so trying to do anything more than landing a Q was unwise as Cassiopeia, as if she tried to chase into E range that Syndra would just Q+E her or Ziggs would bomb her with all of his basic spells.

But I'm glad you liked the general idea, even if it's not perfect.
