I honestly cant understand how people in mid-high elo's can be so bad at support.

Like ok, support has a mildly medium skill floor, but because of general knowledge and not mechanics.

Like a support who never dies and wards the entire map, is INFINITELY useful over someone whos good in combat scenarios.

If you never attack an enemy the entire game. Just buff your teammates, place wards (and zombie wards) and just generally dont die, congratulations you are doing the support role.

I could teach a monkey what to do in the span of 10 minutes. Sit towards the rear (Unless Leona or Braum or Alistar etc.), land cc occassionally, buf/shield whoever is being attacked. Thats literally it for combat.

Then after that incredibly complicated maneuver, you go out and you put sightstone wards in the enemy jungle/river (pretty much never ward your own jungle unless behind or enemies take paths through your jungle a lot) Put down a pink. Let it give vision for 20 minutes.

Zombie wards means you basically singlehandedly give vision of the entire map.

But no, I still see platinum tier players feed in lane and dont buy sightstone until 20 minutes

I dont understand how people fuck up arguably the easiest role SO BADLY.

But have you considered the option that maybe it isnt the easiest role for others to pick up, considering in bronze-gold thats the first thing everyone hates to play so therefore have much better expiriences with other roles?

Just throwing it out there

Cause i mean, although it is lots if warding and junk in the job description, you cant just give a midlane main a tank support because tank supports behave much more like toplaners

The bare minimum of effectiveness is literally bronze level knowledge. Buy Sightstone. Use Sightstone. Die less. And people still fuck it up.

Edited my first post, but the gist is that you cant give someone something they arent comfortable with, yet expect them to do well. The thing is, as a support, youre ALWAYS warding, but as a laner, you only moderatley ward

Because i made a habit of moderatley warding, i cant be expected to catch every opportunity i can ward

Warding is hard :(. I still get like the worst warding count as sup. I don't suck at support but I play like I'm useless in lane phase, then I come out and play well. People would rather play proactively than reactively (which a lot of supports are meant to play reactively, except a few hook support exceptions and all in sups). Also, people just do not like supporting for the most part. They would rather carry the entire team instead of making the carries survive and also getting a few picks.

Again, bronze level knowledge. Someone recalled? Wards. Lane reset? Wards. Coming to lane after B? Wards. Its not difficult.

Because support is thanhardest role? I am playing this game since season 3, playing jungle as my main role and ADC as a second. Wherever I get autofilled to support I pick Soraka or Sona as they are easiest to play, I just mash buttons and have no idea what I am doing. Trying to ward and that's all I do. Playing support is frustrating to me because I cant do much if my team fails.

Hardest role to master =/= hardest role to play. This role has literal barebones for minimum effectiveness, and thats its major role: Vision.

If you cant use bronze level knowledge to do the most vital and basic part of a role effectively, youre just bad at the game.

I would be fine with a support who never casted a spell, but they get vision and dont die.

I understand your point and that's exactly what I do when get autofilled, but still, when I am playing support I do not have a fun. Even if I play well and carry my team and make plays I feel nothing about it. It's not about the role itself, it's about my playstyle. Same goes for Top lane, I simply can't play Top and and there isn't a single top lane champion that atracts me except maybe Camile and thats all. I am a jungle main for 5 seasons straight without changing my position and jungle is my domain, playing ADC as a second role just because I feel kinda comfortable there and I know how to play a few marksmans such are Ashe, Lucian and Caitlyn. Support is hard for me.

I think it has to do with mindset.

Often people interpret the Support role as a chore and (in my experience) a less recognized role. Gamers (in my experience) are often glory hogs, fighting over who gets to the top of the score board for some form of cultural dominance. Playing a Support role could be interpreted as giving up that dominance and many people find “submission” to be weakness. No one wants people to think they are weak.

But that’s just my opinion.
