Ignite on support should be GIGA nerfed.

You read it correctly forum readers. I want my role GUTTED. Jk. Maybe Nami. Filleted too.

Jokes aside, no support needs a fat stack of true damage. None.

My suggestion: Alter ignite so it deals less damage and feels more supporty! If tl and you d want to r, my suggested alteration is in borders

There's too much death in bot lane. I never take exhaust, enemy Zed? Enemy Kha'Zix? I take ignite because:

1, my ADC will probably die through the exhaust damage reduction
2, assassins can get on the adc far more often than the exhaust cooldown 3, ignite does so much damage, it's probably more useful to the team to lower the assassins hp and give vision of them than to reduce their damage.

I take ignite for lane because if I don't then the enemy bot lane will always have a better all in, because exhaust will not save you from an ignite all in.

Also 505 true damage at level 18, that's ridiculous. The spell is meant to finish a champion off, not chunk it with true damage. I'd understand 505 true damage as finishing a champion off if that champion had 5k health... not much else.

If it was up to me I'd set supp ignite to 50-200 true damage, slow by 5%-15% and swap Grievous wounds for GROUND from level 11+ (Silences mobility spells, Miasma and Mega-Adhesive have it), damage maxing at lvl 16, slow at lvl 11. Maybe change "ignite" to "poison" when a support item is purchased. It'll just mean I can fkin stop something being so mobile and finish it off or just add some "helping" damage.

But I'd settle for changing the damage to the same numbers but adaptive damage, because riot aren't going to reduce damage. This post is prob pointless. Oof.

Edit: I'm going to stop replying to comments now, I'll read them though!

uh..

That wouldn't be actually bad? That would kick in more mages into the support role further?

For mages to become supports their mana costs have to be lower, ranges have to be higher and base damages have to be higher. This change does not effect any of that.

It would be interesting to read your reasoning though?

Edit: By mages I mean mages that aren't already bot like Orianna, Ahri, Xerath etc.

I was thinking about Veigar and Anivia, maybe Annie.

Veigar: got a nerf on E with a small delay, but he's still capable of being picked just because AOE cage. Xerath: this one actually was used as support at one point just after the rework, i don't exactly remember the reason why he was ditched out. Annie: have seen very few, she still does an insane raw burst with cc. Orianna: i dont think this one going bot, but i do recall that was listed as support by Riot "launcher". She can zone, give ms and maybe shields. CDR is kinda easy to get nowdays.

I am not a support expert, but i meant that the current mages that are already picked bot would be even more desired if there is a damage "lack".

I would vote to make an ardent censer rune instead. With small tweaks of course.

Veigar gets stacks mainly by CS'ing with Q. When he's support he's forced to constantly trade to get stacks and frostfang gold. Also his E Event Horizon has a long cooldown, if he uses it you can probably get a really good all in immediately after and murder him.

This change would make Veigar weaker because Veigar uses ignite to lower his targets hp so that his ult does more damage. This change reduces ignite damage by a large amount, Veigar is still mid lane

Xerath wouldn't benefit from much less ignite damage, the ground would be the only thing added to him, and if the enemy champ was in ignite range, he could just stun them if they aren't behind minions, so Xerath supp would lose out hard

Annie support is actually not too bad because she has 600 range and can get frostfang gold by autoing, then if they go on you, you can just out trade with your spells. She'd benefit from the slow and ground for using Summon: Tibbers but if her burst +ignite wasn't enough after these changes, then the enemy gets away and these changes do their job of reducing death in bot lane

Orianna struggles because she has no pre 6 cc and her mana costs are so high. Enchanter supports buy mana regen items and their items have a lot of synergy with mana regen. Buying mana regen on Ori is just useless because you run out very fast on her base mana pool. The only way I can make her work is with this build: item 3098 item 3027 item 3504 item 3009 item 3174. If you don't get a lead and you fall behind, you get ROA really late and just lose. It's hard to pull off and you have to be good mechanically if your enemy laners have brains. Reducing ignite damage would not help her at all

Anivia is another you'd have to build ROA on for it to work. This ignite would give greatly reduced damage to Anivia's full combo.

Btw most mages can function well if they get a lead and buy ROA Oblivion Orb and Sorc Shoes. If you have enough hp buy void staff, if not, Rylai's/Liandry's or Complete Morello/elixir of Iron if next fight wins.

Aery's shield applies ardent censer because it gives a shield. If you created a rune like this it would be balanced for Janna/Lulu and useless on any other champ

You forgot Karma, Thresh, and lux. But yeah, i got the point with the rune problem.

Edit: I forgot Sona too.

Crispy0Snake1 votes

I replied to all the champs you listed... Thresh relies on high ignite damage for his all in, Lux relies on high ignite damage for her full combo to kill and Karma will be more able to get her root off, giving her more opportunities to all in, but she still trades off a lot of ignite damage in those all ins so at best it's even

I mean, if adc takes ignite and support takes heal what really is the difference?

Aside from removing the likeliness that the ADC doesn't save you with heal and instead tries to fight 1 v 2 and then uses it but dies.. [sg-miss-fortune]

Crispy0Snake1 votes

If the support dies, the adc can still heal

Bot lane is essentially a support protecting an adc, making sure they farm well and get an advantage. If the adc dies first in a skirmish, all that gold they're funnelled is useless. You have to often make it so that: If someone on the team dies, it's you

Exactly, which is why the heal needs to go to the support not the ADC. ADC can't be trusted to keep teammates/themselves alive because they are too busy trying to focus on themselves, while the Support understands that keeping more people alive in the fight keeps the ADC more alive by proxy.

No because if the adc has ignite and not heal, and they die because they have no heal, all the gold and resources put into them are useless.

They won't die, because the support will use it to heal them... [sg-lux-2]

Soraka, Sona and Janna would like to have a word with you.

Crispy0Snake1 votes

Why? Sona becomes even more useless in an all in with this, Janna and Soraka gain nothing but a small % slow for a massive reduction in ignite damage?
