I would argue that it's going from both to neither

what do you mean? you dont enjoy getting critted for 800-1000 damage per AA with 0 counterplay while the adc moves on the speed of light and gets healed too cause runes?

That an amazing gameplay..how can you possible get bored that?

You dont enjoy an overbuffed kha on the jungle? or zac/sej with their amazing gameplay?

You dont enjoy varys and lulu bot lane? amazing stuff

You dont enjoy the best gameplay and the huge outplay potentials of kill one person at 6 minutes take 5 turrets?

Those are amazing mechanics that riot added through the years YOU SHOULD ENJOY THEM

Yeah, I used to be so excited to play all the time. Now it's like I log on and stare at the collection page trying to find something I want to play, but everything seems so boring now. I played Draven top for a while to keep my interest, but after getting out traded by every tank past level 2, having my team throw a temper tantrum in champ select, and getting one shot by junglers repeatedly even that got stale.

This is so true to be honest.

The old system was shallow too.

IMO the game is boring right now because one lane decides the game with jungle being the sole person in control. Games go like this now: you get bot turret, then they rotate and get mid or top. With that gold lead you take control of dragon/rift herald and push more turrets. Then you prepare for baron. If they fight you, your gold lead wins you the fight and you get an inhib or baron or both. Reset and keep doing this until you win.

Teleport is part of the problem. I think if Top laners could apply more pressure by split pushing and FORCING people to come to them, the game would be vastly different. Mid and Jungle would have more incentive to actually help Top get ahead. Imagine what the game would be like if Teleport just did not exist? Rather than camping one lane to victory, the jungler would have to decide which route of victory. Should he camp mid so their mid game magic damage can win them fights? Should he camp bot because there's more gold down there, and ADCs AND supports are strong? Should he camp top so that his top laner can get so fed that he can 1v2 while we take objectives?

Instead of everything i just said, top mid and jungle revolve around bot. More gold is down there, and getting your bot lane ahead simply lets you take more objectives and win easier. Top teleports bot when possible. Mid roams down after wave-clearing for days, and jungle paths down there after every clear.

A nerf to ADCs item costs (they were all reduced a while back. Zeal items are 2600g? i think...IE is 3400g....BT is 3800g. Think about that), a nerf to teleport so that it has a range like TF ult, and maybe a slap on the wrist for supports so that the game can be more focused around other areas of the map, that way top laners and mid laners can carry again if they get ahead.

What is even worse is that, it feels like they don't have any intention of changing anything. They are fine with the fact that top, mid and jungle are secondary supports while bot lane are the primary carries. But at the same time, it hurts people who play those roles because they also want to be part of the action and do the hard work other than just helping.

Many people have because of that complained that they want Riot to make other lanes more aggressive so that you can be able to pick things like Fighters, Assassins, Burst Mages again. But as of right now, I haven't heard Riot mentioning anything about the other roles, instead I have heard that they are just gonna focus on midseason which is gonna be about ADC primarily in a good way.

Basicly it feels like they are telling every mid, top and jungle main to go and **** themselves and to deal with the situation

ADCs are used because they scale best and they take towers fastest. Been this way for 6 years now. But a long time ago ADC items actually costed a lot of gold. Infinity Edge used to be 3800g for example. BF sword used to be 1550, now its 1300. Riot drastically reduced the gold cost for all the ADC items AND increased passive gold per 5 at the same time in order to speed the game up. They were tired of LCs games taking 40+ minutes so they changed the game over the course of about 1.5 years to make games end faster in pro play and SoloQ.

This basically means ADCs become monstrous about 10 minutes earlier than they used to. If my memory is good, this also coincides with the 5 man bot lane meta that started about 2 years ago too. Players realized that just Teleporting bot every time its up was the best way to win the game. Everything for the past 2 years or so has just slowly compounded into the meta we have now where the game is decided by your bot lane. If your bot lane is incompetent, you likely lose. If they are good but not fed, you can win. And if they are fed you almost always win.

The reason you have high impact as someone like Singed is that you are split pushing. Champions like Tryndamere can literally win the game on their own. Every time they bait multiple people to come get them their team gets objectives.

The reason I want Teleport nerfed is so that MORE champions can do what you do with Singed. Push and dare people to come stop you. If you don't need teleport, you can use Ignite to snowball yourself to victory. Tryndamere doesn't even use Teleport anymore because he doesn't need to group. He just needs to be able to 1v2, which he can easily do with Ignite. This is an example of a champion who is countering the meta by being someone with kill pressure at every stage of lane phase, and hyper scaling all combined into a split pusher who will get inhibitors if you let him.

Thing is not many Top lane champions can do this. If you're not someone like Singed or Trydamere you have to group, which means you are a slave to your bot lane.

I think the main thing about a game like League is its quite repetitive, this is the type of game where people play it constantly, for hours and hours, and its the type of game you should just take a long break from it.

Like if you don't feel like pressing play...don't, play something else. It's what I did, I took a 3 month break from this game, and when I took the break I just kept the thought in my mind, I will play it when I feel like it. I don't feel like it so I am not going to play it.

So for three months I played through Skyrim again, and then picked up Overwatch, now I am back to this. You just gotta take breaks, every game gets old after awhile and you just wanna take a break. The only difference with this game is it changes all the time.

But hey if you do take a break, I hope you come back, the rift would never be the same without you. [sg-soraka]

This comment exactly. My 10 month break made this game a blast for me again. I play this and fortnite, it's a great combo meal.

It didn't used to be.

It didn't used to be.

Can you explain further? I did not play until late season 6, so I am not sure how. It is easy to make a claim, its hard to show evidence and make a warrant.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

The game used to have much much more strategic depth. One game you would play a poke comp, the next you might be playing a waveclear and stall comp, another game you would be playing a hard engage comp, there were split push comps, etc... every game had different strategies and every game you would play against different strategies. Since mid/late season 5 after they'd had their fill of lane swap metas they've been so afraid of alternate strategies making LCS viewers think that they've been removing almost all strategies except snowball to win lane-win game, making each game feel very much the same and leading to the feelings of repetitiveness.

3TWarrior1 votes

unfortunately, therein lies the problem. The game changed completely starting in preseason 6 and riot's gameplay philosophies changed mid season 5. League was formerly a strategy game where the whole was not greater than the sum of its parts (meaning that if one person failed, the entire team didn't fail) and to add to that, LCS teams were greeted with the same game as everyone else. Now changes are made specifically for the LCS and diversity suffers for it

it still shares some of its gameplay with earlier seasons, but so many changes brought to the game would have been unthinkable previously as balance shifted from what was reasonable...to what was the most extreme

For instance, the bottom lane teleport strategy used to have consequences because anyone away from their lane was penalized in farm and experience, but now it is a standard because it is so gold efficient

SephAgro2 votes

the point is, it was never like this before

Supreme Senpai697 votes

Yea. I don't mind losing teamfights and then the game. But there's always that one lane that goes 0/10/0. Which I get, sometimes, but once a lane loses that badly... they leak into the jungle, other lanes, and suddenly you're not allowed to leave even your own base. Not being able to play the game, but AFK'ing = punished... it just is mentally exhausting.

On the flipside, victories like that aren't fun. You're just trying to kill them over and over, stalling the game out to pad your KDA before minions make you win.

I miss the mid game. It's just early game and once people have 2 items it's late game. That's what it feels like, anyway. Reality might be different. But like. You play games to feel, so the feeling is more important than the reality

been playing since early '12. i used to waste from up to 5-6 hours a day playing. now, i am lucky i can play 2 ARAMS in a row without doing something else.

maybe i got bored, maybe i grown out of it, but its not the same.

GodlyBane4 votes

yep, in the summer i would play 16/7 league, now its.. ooof... not the same..

SephAgro4 votes

Its because games are roflstomps now. Either I'm stomping them or getting stomped. It just feels like there is no agency and every game is basically the same formula.

5050BS1 votes

Yep.

A gaming session is most of the time 2-3 games where I win 2 and lose 1 or lose 2 and win. In any case the wins or losses are because the losing team has someone trolling.

It gets really boring when a win is because of a troll and not because someone was good. It feels just as satisfying as playing vs BOTs and we all know how fast you got bored of that.

it's called "new game high is passed" it's the reason why a lot of people play MMOs only for about 3~6 months before moving on unless the game actually had something that kept them playing and even then those people more than likely won't be playing for as long or as often as they used to

3TWarrior1 votes

ummm, what? if a game is good, it's good. Typically people switch to another game for a while if something is new, but if something is better, they stick with the new thing.

super smash brothers, call of duty/halo/etc and various other games. They stay good all the time because they are casual and you can always find a way to enjoy them

League was the BEST game available and still is one of the best, but it's going down the wrong direction and people are feeling it

whether the game is good or not it means very little. You aren't going to be playing smash or CoD or any other game just as much as when you first started playing. Sorry but that is not happening in any game. You can still love the game but you won't be playing it for the 5+ hours every day you used to when you first started playing the game.

This happens with every single game in existence. You can love something that doesn't mean you will continue to put the same amount of time or that the game won't tire you out eventually. But you can keep pretending that people who play smash continue to play smash the exact same amount of time about 6 months or a year into the lifespan of the game being released. Or CoD or any other game out there

3TWarrior1 votes

not really. Most people prefer new things but it all has a limit and in the end, we go to what we enjoy. The major reason people stop playing for as long as they used to is that they want to manage their time to get an optimal experience.

league provides or provided an excellent multiplayer experience with new players every match and felt as though the player has an impact. The times that players are most unhappy is when some strategy is invalidated by changes to the game, which has little to offer for league's new vision of longevity by changing everything

I can't play more than one match a day without getting incredibly tilted.

I legitimately starting playing other videogames because of this.

And I used to play 3-4 games a day, everyday, for a few years.

I just can't stand the current metagame.

Handy Sandy 3 votes

Been feeling the same for a while now. I find myself stopping in the middle of the game asking myself if I'm really, truly having fun. After what they did to Azir with the terrible rework (which it seems like they literally just said "Yo, making him an artillery mage is easily balancable but let's still make him into a battlemage just for the luls") and how high the damage in the game is in general, it's really not fun anymore.

Even Lissandra's cc isn't as threatening anymore since there's so much cc that has crept in the game that I'm used to it.

Mobility is everywhere, champion kits are getting very complex (Looking at you Kaisa, I still don't understand what you do.) I can't remember the last time they released another Garen or Annie. They really need to. I also think it's just dumb how you can carry as hard as you can, but it doesn't matter because the ADC will always do it better than you more reliably and easier. What's the point of playing a carry in top or mid? Why can junglers gank 24/7?\

Already been looking at other games. I really can't stand Dota2's style, it's extremely hard to look at. SMITE just felt bad to play. I think League's gonna be my first and last moba.

Skyforge here I come.

Yea, I'm coming up on 2.5 years, and been playing some other stuff lately. It's not the evil season 8, just getting bored. I want gold in ranked, but even if i get it...who cares...ill prob quit right after anyway. I never know when it's time to up and quit a game until it happens. Usually I'm on the fence and something tilts me BAD and that's it. Hasn't happened with League yet, but it could be close...who knows.

Ya, I can agree. People get really serious even in norms with me and it can get really exhausting as a support main. It’s really fun when I get someone supper relaxed and has a calming effect. With people like that it’s fun even if I lose. But as is, I usually only play three games in a row when I do play.

Colte1 votes

it's tiring because we have to deal with utter garbage allies or enemies, we demolish one side or get demolished, it's quite boring when it's always a onesided snowball match because some people are so bad they can't win any match without getting carried by good people

hoping on mid season to fking nuke this goddamn cursed adc meta then just have everything else follow cuz thats how they balance everything around the adc- adc weak: buff, too strong buff assassin, assassin to strong buff support, support to strong buff adc, adc too strong buff tank/ assassin, tank/assassin to strong buff adc and support etc. I wonder how damage got so high?

Superspick1 votes

It's not a reliably fun or consistently fun experience anymore. It fluctuates too wildly between games now.

I guess so. I've been netting really lucky pulls on my hextech chests to help me craft new skins to 'refresh' the feeling of playing some champs I've never really put time and effort into because I hadn't like their roles too much. And these are the monthly chests too. Not paid for. And alot of the luck comes from shard rerolls.

As far as burning out goes, I guess I can feel you on that. Any levelling up you do isn't very rewarding and just feels like I'm just earning IP all over again, it's just accumulating even with the nerfs to amount you gain. I'm level 106 and there's nothing to do up here and I've recently sunk so BE into a name change and I still have 30k sitting around. It's not much in comparison to some of you guys but the rewards past level 30 are next to non existant. I guess the wards and the emotes are nice but you can't BM with level emotes and I have so many ward skins now from the emporium that I rarely use the pengu one they give you for free. I'm not asking for any freebies but maybe if there were more frequent essence emporium shops I think I'd be happy with that.

Although, I'm certain that new players and new accounts will have a decent time levelling up past 30. They can save a TON of blue essence from crafting champ shards and using extras to get their well deserved mastery 7.

blizzard recently charged a professional player $4000 for using emoji in match and giving a non-professional appearance (basically they deserved it, but it has opened a lot of problems for gaming and professional gamers in general).

Everyone is hating the game suddenly because of the beginning of the new season :

  • game being in a terrible state
  • everyone one-shotting everyone
  • marksmen deciding the game
  • support being marksmen dogs and requiring 2 brain cells to be played while doing an insane job for the marksman,
  • mages being trash (outside of the meta ones and you need to master them),
  • Matchmaking being nonsense,
  • bots, toxic smurfs (from banned accounts) ruining new players experience
  • towers being made of paper

and I can keep going on

But yeah it's because we've been playing this game for so long, we don't enjoy it anymore. Keep going guys, it's crazy you're not noticing that veteran players are hating the game more and more because of what it's becoming
