April 1st isn't "URF Day." It's April Fools'. Riot, as a company, is free to do whatever nonsensical thing they like as their annual prank. URF was originally intended to be a one-off, but it was a big hit so they extended it. Then when it ended people spent the next year demanding it come back. So Riot, despite whatever plans they may have had previously, brought it back.

They finally decide "ok enough URF time for a new April Fools' joke" and you idiots are screaming and crying "OMG Riot why I hate you guys now!" Don't even get me started on the people saying "I scheduled my vacation around URF! I skipped school today! I wasted my effort and it's because of you Riot!" No, it's your own fault for being stupid. They explicitly stated no URF this April 1st. When they follow through the entitled children come out of the woodwork and start screeching about their overrated game mode. URF isn't even fun; the same people that demand it come back because "it's just fun and not serious" are the ones who force a meta onto it within the span of a day and suddenly you either pick Ryze or spend the whole match watching a grey screen. Point is, none of you have any right to be complaining. Riot told you how it was gonna be ahead of time. URF was never a guarantee. It wasn't this year, it wasn't last year either.

Ah, but it's fine for the people I'm "flaming" to themselves flame Riot incessantly over a gamemode they aren't mandated to release. I think that last sentence sums up perfectly why you're the child here. "I'm trying to make you upset, but it's your fault for getting upset."

I'm irritated you people are acting like spoiled children. Riot doesn't have to release URF every April 1st. They even said they weren't going to this year. It'd be one thing if people said "hey it'd be cool if this came a tradition, could you bring it back?" But no, URF fans are the most toxic members of the community and the instant the clock hit 12 and URF wasn't out you take to the Boards en masse demanding URF, insulting Riot, saying that it's owed to you. It isn't.

Actually that does make it ok. Riot does not owe you URF. They do not have to bring back URF. "99%" of people don't love it as much as the circlejerkers make it seem. It's just an obscenely loud subset of players who never stop talking about it because they don't actually like League. They only like URF. Also, that analogy is terrible. Smashing someone's computer is an inherently negative and aggressive act. Rito not renewing URF is not. You're just conflating it with one because you think Rito owes you URF. They don't. They never did.

Yes, and analogies are meant to compare two similar things. There was no similarity in the two things you describe. Look, URF could be a big, fun tradition-type-thing-whatever. But the community won't let it. First off, they always ruin the mode itself when it comes out. When it's back later this year I can guarantee with 100% certainty that ever single game will have a Fizz and/or AP Shaco in it because there's simply no way to play against those two in URF. It makes the mode frustrating rather than fun. Second, the fans are just incredibly selfish assholes. Look at the front page of the Boards right now. There's however many threads all demanding- not asking- demanding URF. Every last thread saying give us URF, we demand URF, Riot you're shit for not giving us URF. It's disgusting and childish. And if you dare call them out for being petulant children, you get dogpiled.

URF is not fun. Quite the opposite in fact. It's the single most frustrating thing in all of League. The meta of "broken wins, don't try to have fun" gets instated immediately, and from that point on you're either playing from a pool of a dozen champions, or you spend 20 minutes watching a grey screen.

How to U.R.F (like the big part of the playerbase does):

1.) Pick only the broken stuff, Report if someone doesn't pick according to URF meta 2.) Splitpush 24/7, who wants to have fun right? 3.) I might try out something new, something silly. See Point 1.

Personally, I dont enjoy playing against stuff that is either unkillable because of heals/mobility or just oneshots/stunlocks me 24/7.

First: Whether URF is fun or not is a matter of opinion, and even though you may not enjoy it others do (so quit crying). In fact, enough people enjoyed it that there were several large petitions for making it permanent, and the majority of the news posts about game modes were met with requests for URF for over a year.

Second: If there is URF, you do not have to play URF. Quit crying about losing in a game mode that you have the simple option of NOT CHOOSING TO PLAY.

Third: Demands for URF are not necessarily the voice of "entitled children". I have asked for URF (or a variation of URF, such as ARURF - all random URF to bring a different flavor) in the past, but out of a genuine desire to play it and the hopes that Riot would give a little something to the more casual players that loved the mode. A post requesting and even demanding URF doesn't automatically mean that the poster feels that Riot owes them.

Fourth: I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you are smart enough to know the above three points already. This makes you a troll that wants to start a flame war. Shame on you.

I know that they said that it would not be here on April 1 this year, but I had a glimmer of hope. The most frustrating part of the outcries for URF were that they had only brought it out once a year and then gave us occasional (and sparsely so) more interesting game modes that were intended as "just for fun". A few of those were pretty good (no "URF level" of fun), but several were fairly lame.

The fact that they have stated that they will do a rotating weekend game mode system is great, but then they stated that URF will appear "at least twice". This means that instead of the 2 weeks we had in 2015 with the glory that is URF, we get "at least" 4 days... I assume Riot will keep to their baffling decision not to throw a bone to the more casual player by making one of the most fun game modes (my opinion, shared by others but still an opinion) a more regular thing, and that we will likely see 2 weekends of URF all year.
