It kinda hard for mages to last hit minions.

Why would I want to last hit minions and not use my spells? Because, at low levels, mana counts. We use have access to mana potions and the summoner spell clarity, but this was removed.

We also had Arcane mastery (remember that 5% ap on hit mastery) which helped with last hitting, but that was also removed.

So with no mana portions, and no arcane mastery, mages are having a hard time last hitting.

Would it be so bad to bring back arcane mastery?

Depending on your champion, it might be beneficial to take some flat attack speed runes and the +4% attack speed mastery. Most mages have really clunky auto attack animations and taking just a little bit of attack speed will help smooth it out and make it easier to last hit. Runes are intended to help you do well in the early game, so if your early game is more farm reliant and you trade more with your abilities, try taking runes that will help you farm.

I tried playing fiddlesticks in lane, and my cs was soooo bad. I can cs well(by my standards) with anivia and swain so idk.

The arcane mastery would be a veigar buff i think. They could give that mastery for farming and jungling 10 extra dmg vs minions maybe? Or would that make cunning must have on everyone but Annie and Mundo?

Kayle Loved that mastery so much... Please Rito!

It's a trade off. Otherwise the ghost meta would become even more of a shitfest because of easy pushing of mid lane.

Meh. Just make sure to take Savagery, and you get 5 free extra damage against minions. Then practice going against the enemy minion that is taking the SECOND most damage, and you should be okay, other than the situation where your entire wave is hitting a single minion at once.

if you're still having problems, take natural talent instead of spellvamp(vampirism). That gives you another 2 extra AD for free. After that, it's just a matter of practice. Watch some squishy mage players on youtube.

Important things to remember:

  1. your cannon minion chunks enemy minions harder
  2. the front wave of enemy minions has more armor AND HP. So you have to let them get crazy-low before trying to autoattack for last hit.

get that one mastery in the utility tree that adds 5? damage to your attacks on minions. it helps a lot more than it sounds like it does and a lot of mids have a specific farming pattern to learn as you go, orianna for one needs to stack up her passive when they're healthier in order to finish them off.
