A jungle main and his thoughts on Dev

Opening

Dev was a cool fun item to play with. However we had problem items similar to it in the past, the most famous being feral flare and those items were always problem items to the point they got rightfully kicked. However Dev had a few issues that riot nicely pointed out, the largest being a very forced play style. However I want to point out a few other things.

The Problems

1-The Farming Mini Game

Dev Turned jungling into a mini game called, Path as efficiently as possible and never gank lanes unless either A, a killed is guaranteed, or B, your teammates are in danger and immediately need your help to survive. Basically you didn't gank unless you had no choice, or were guaranteed a reward.

2-"High Risk" (not)

It was a high risk high reward item that very rarely hit the worse case scenario risk. So the idea of Dev is that you buy a item that is not worth the gold at all. However once you completed it, it was very much worth the gold, and you could one v one anyone. The risk however is if two out of three of your lanes were losing, you would fall greatly behind in stacks through a domino effect of scenarios. Sometimes to not even get full stacks until 26 minutes. However with how dragon, scuttle and rift worked, and proper jungle invading, even if your lanes were losing, most the time you were ok.

3-What is Death?

The fact once combod with certain items you could 1 v 5 a team if you were ahead. Should you be rewarded for proper strategy and with leads? Yes yes you should. However with how Dev worked, most the people who used it were either very tanky, or people with so much burst you died instantly. This means the majority of the people who used it once they were stated simply snow balled out of control to the point very little could be done about it. Fun little fact, Yi has received his first set of nerfs in multiple patches, he is actually in patch notes now. Quite frankly, I believe the new items were the blame of this.

Yi went from "oh he is that guy who is annoying once he snow balls, but hey we can deal with it" to "oh my god he just hit stated, gg" This was also the same story with other champions like Xin or Shyvana, and hell even Aatrox.

The TLDR Conclusion

Did I enjoy the item? Yes I did. Was it a problem item? Most defaintly.

The new item is a healthy item that makes me debate "do I want to be tanky, fast or do I want to have simple flat stats", It has a job, it performs the job well, and it doesn't have any of the following issues that I stated above.

Goodbye Dev, you were fun to play with, but you were not meant to stay.

As someone who likes to play Shyvana top, I'm just happy I can access the new Guinsoo's.

Honestly since the titanic nerfs, I started prioritizing rage blade, feels pretty nice.

I always did like damage Shyvana, which is unfortunate because this is basically league of tanks and adcs atm :/
