Hyper-Mobility, Dashes and ETC . . . Maybe It's Time to Revert Rylai Nerfs?

item 3116

The slow on this item was nerfed awhile ago. With more and more champions being able to blink, jump over walls, teleport all over the place, get out of CC effects and more . . . it might be time to increase the slow again so immobile mages and some supports can kite better. It's getting really out of control with how much hyper-mobility that is being added into this game right now. We have champions that can one shot players, get out of strategic plays almost every single teamfight, and do a lot of outrageous things that make it impossible for characters with no mobility to do anything.

Even nerfing damage is not going to stop a tank from running down at me, or an assassin from jumping over a wall because I cannot get to him. or any character with a speed-up move that makes it impossible to catch them.

Why would we buff Rylais when the hypermobile champs are by far the least affected by it? Rylais is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy more punishing for lower mobility champs. I don't understand why you would want to buff it to deal with mobile champs when it's super ineffective at dealing with them yet super punishing for immobile ones

Exactly this. Dashes are not generally affected by slows, and the most direct counter to Rylai's slow is to gapclose out of it. In general, any mechanic capable of a permaslow tends to screw over immobile champions the hardest, which is why Ashe and her strength at the start of League was one of the initial drives for making more mobile champions. If Rylai were buffed to apply a ground with its slow, perhaps that would get closer to countering hypermobility, but putting aside the balance implications behind that, that's not what seems to be proposed in the OP.

Every buff u make to rylais will only hurt inmobil champions. What we need are more grounded effect or - warning crazy idea incoming - actual cooldowns on important abilities. I remember times when my enemie used their 1 max spell and I was like, ok now i have a 10 second window to act around. Know the get 1k truedamage point and click on a 4 second cooldown while jumping over 3 screens and stunning with the hitbox of a damn bus. Slowing those people won't help anything, u either increase their cd's or inmobil champions will forever be underwhelming. Which sucks cause i play exclusivly inmlobile champions [slayer-jinx-catface]

Buffing Rylai's would only lengthen the gap between immobile champions and mobile champions.

remove the AoE slow on items from glacial augment (slows when you slow someone with an item, imao it's useless af) and add a grounded effect on the champions hit by your slowing AA in this way you can choose to deny part of your enemy mobility by giving up some damage/defense from keyrunes, and maybe we'll finally see someone pick this rune

btw about item 3116 they should remove 10/15 AP and give it 10% CDR so it can be a good alternative to zhonya and banshee

Instead of slows I think we need more grounding effects.

Perhaps nerf item 3030 hitbox size but who ever it hits is grounded for X seconds

they did?

Perhaps Rylais could apply "grounded" debuff? I think that might help deal with the mobility creep that is so rampant nowadays
