Can we make an OPT to join voice chat in League in ranked please?

It would be cool if when you played ranked there was a voice chat that you could join. If a player joined the voice chat, it would say someone joined it and you could decide if you wanted to join it as well.

I just wish it existed. Would really counter the duo Q bull crap in high elo ranked. It's literally "Who get's the duo Q" and "if the duo q is decent, u lose".

In high elo, telling your laner/jungler a crucial piece of intel/information or to behave a certain way to bait something can win the game. Even in low elo, if they have a fed tryn, you could say when to stun him, to back off. You can't type/ping that exact information you want to convey.

Dota 2 has it. In dota 2, people rarely said anything bad in my experience. That's one thing I enjoyed.

Also, can easily just make it honor level 1 2 or 3 to use. So people who get banned/chat restricted can't use it. Maybe they can listen though still?

honor should never have a direct impact on gameplay, its an unfair advantage and riot will never do this.

was about to say we must have played a different dota but then I remembered EU has always been way more toxic and fucked up

The problem with opt-in voice is that it creates a communication division. If two of your team is in it and 3 aren't, your communication is actually worse than it was before... because now there are two people who have more information than the rest of your team, which leads to mixed calls/etc.

I would rather have EVERYONE assume they have to communicate with pings/chat than have a couple of people who think they no longer need that and split comms.

What's the difference from that and me linking my discord every game and having 2-3 / 5 in my disc? If I'm duoing usually only one guy won't be in the discord because me and my duo are AND 1-2 ppl joined.

Honestly I think it should be an opt OUT system. Coming from other competitive games, people who can't mute flamers shouldn't be playing ranked. I'm not sure what is the difficulty. No one is even asking you to talk. Were just asking you to be able to listen to "hey Im coming back let wave push and when I hit tri-bush use your ult nami and well focus the jinx". That's all anyone is asking of you. If you cant do that why are in the competitive game mode? League is one of the few games marketed as an e-sport Ive seen that coddles it's solo queue so much. Listen to calls and if someone is being mean, mute them. It's no different than text chat rules.

I've said this several times in other discussions, but I am not afraid of toxicity in voice chat. I'm afraid of all the OTHER crap that makes it frustrating when you can't curate who you're in voice with.

  1. People-baggage(ex. your bratty kids, nagging wife, etc.)
  2. Hardware issues (fans, bad microphones, etc.)
  3. Distracting chatter (I am way less distracted by people typing a conversation than be people talking it - I don't want to hear you and your duo talk about GoT while I'm playing - that's why I have music playing, it helps me focus)
  4. People who think they speak perfect english but are wrong and you can't understand them at all, but they refuse to ping in stead because 'we have voice and I speak perfect english'.

I will NEVER want voice chat with people I don't know. Ever. In any game. Voice chat is meant for friends and arranged teams, not for randoms, in my eyes.

I don't feel like beeing forced into voice chat. Especially on servers like EUW where people have different languages this might be a problem.

Also:

  • Getting flamed for not joining
  • Games getting even more of a coin flip if the enemy team is willing to join voice and yours isn't
  • People show their frustration in voice and thus affecting your team negative
  • Toxic people in general... If you get flamed in voice chat a few times you won't join again resulting in the problems above.

Overwatch has it and tbh it didn't help in any way. Most of the times people didn't join or some premades talked with themselves and made (bad) calls, expecting you to follow. And like I said, they would get mad at the ones that didn't join or didn't follow the calls.

making it an honor system would be a good idea, plus all the honor 5 positivity babies on this game would probably love that one

i dont know what honor 4-5 would give. Getting honor 3 for me has taken quite a while and I wouldn't want to restrict voice chat to only the most sportsman like players. Not sure what other perks you could give honor 4-5 players and if that is even needed.

Being able to talk is just freedom of speech, so as long as your honor isn't 0, you should be allowed to use it.

They could try it in custem games first, I like to join randoms from time to time and ofc we will end up in Discord, but it would make things easier, putting it in the ranked game would be super nice, from meming 12 y/o to talking about strategies.

Just played duo with midlaner, he was Ahri, I told him to shoot charm at enemy eventhough there was minion in the way, I smited it. Eye candy 👌. Impossible to achieve with pings.

yeah I played a game with someone who has only played vs bots yesterday and even though we lost it was probably one of the funner games of League I've played. Being able to tell him when to ult, push, what to buy was a cool thing.

This game badly needs ways to better communicate with your team with each champion needing more team coordination than the previous one.

Yuumi being a prime example.

pretty much. its a lot harder to solo carry now a days so you need your team a lot more.

i doubt riot would do this, because if someone is toxic in voice chat how is riot going to punish them? they're not going to pay someone to sit there and listen to recordings, they already very rarely sit and review actual gameplay of a reported person (usually its for some popular streamer because bullshit privileges exist). and before you say well if someone is being toxic in voice chat you can just mute them, oh wait you can fucking already do that in text and does it ever change anything? no.
