What is Elo Hell?

Elo Hell does exist. But what is Elo Hell exactly?

Elo Hell is not one particular elo range. Elo Hell can be Diamond, Plat, Bronze, etc...

Elo is not a representation of how skilled you are, it is a representation of the highest-rated teams you can carry. Can't carry Bronze 3? You may the playing ability of a Silver/Gold player, but you are in Bronze 3 because thats the highest elo you can carry.

Can't carry Diamond 1? You may be playing at a Challenger level, but you are in Diamond 1 because that is the highest elo you can carry.

Notice how none of these are drastic. Chances are if you feel like Gold is elo hell, then you are a platinum player... but you can't hard-carry your way out of gold matches. Notice how whenever a smurf plays with you they shit on the other team and carry your ass to victory? They find a way to win, despite that odds. A challenger-ranked player can go into a platinum-ranked game have all of their lanes lose/feed, and they'll still be able to find a way to carry their way out of it the MAJORITY of the time.

There are games that you will lose even if you yourself have an amazing game. There are games that you will win even if you lost your lane and gave up 8 kills in the first 10 minutes. And finally, this is what counts. The games that YOU are the deciding factor in. What % of games will go this way? What is the highest elo you can carry?

The difference between the elo you should be in and the elo you are in is Elo Hell. Basically, if you are in Bronze... you may actually be a Gold/Silver player and you may have no problem playing with your Gold/Silver friends, but you can't carry 4 Bronze noobs. Either way, you aren't a Master/Challenger tier player, so up your game. There are ALWAYS improvements to be made.

This is true, but I think the traditional definition of ELO Hell is around bronze/silver where Riot defaults players when they start ranked. In this region, the matches are going to be more random because Riot doesn't have a good handle on how strong these new players actually are.

that argumentation is kinda redundant, since when your in bronze and your a silver/gold skilled player, silver/gold would mean theyre gold/platinum skillwise and so on. so basically this is completely useless since by that logic EVERYONE is way lower than he deserves to be.

Elo hell is that point where the game is 100% decided on who gets the bigger troll, i.e my current place.
