Illaoi isn't op, she does not need nerfs, she needs small changes to some abilities.

I have played Illaoi for quite a while and I either pub stomp in lane hard and sometimes dominate teamfights, or I dont do well in lane and rely on the enemy to make mistakes for me to get back in the game(dive me).

Her abilities on their own are fine but the combination makes them a bit absurd. Here are some issues I found with Illaoi.

Her tentacle damage scales too fast, it does not feel right that by leveling up her Q because when she does, her entire kit indirectly gets a lot stronger. I propose that her Q still do this BUT not as hard.

Think of it this way, if currently leveling her Q makes her tentacle damage a 8/10, it should instead at level 9 make it a 5.5/10 but scale all the way to 9/10 or 10/10 to compensate at level 16-18.

Her W is fine imo just could use an indicator when hovering over the skill to show you where the tentacle will slap when hovering over targets.

E for all the slack it gets, needs nothing really done to it except maybe a cooldiwn increase for late game.

R is where Illaoi is strongest, it creates a window of power for her while it is active, why not make Illaoi the actual zone threat juggernaut she is? Why not remove the decreased cd on W while this is active and instead make her ult make an aoe visible to her and the enemy where if any enemy champions are in it, Illaois tentacles damage and healing are reduced to 40 or 50% effectiveness but will non stop slap any champions within as long as Illaoi is inside.

Passive: just a buff for Illaoi, let her be able to come 15 or 20 minutes into the game be able to manually let out the tentacles where she wants as a toggle, either randomly come out or manually. Would help her when shes in the jungle with her team.

Thoughts?

She's nothing compared to release state Ekko I'll say that.

I completely agree with you, she's all about positioning. If you and your team decide to position in the jungle in a chokepoint, she is bound to get a few kills.

Her ultimate is too strong because it lacks counterplay. I'd be fine with her getting to ignore her prerequisite positioning and set up time to access her over the top damage, but not being able to kill the tentacles that she pulls out of thin air feels wrong. That's literally the crux of her counterplay, and the amount of healing and damage she gets from them makes it feel atrocious to play against when you can't kill her or the tentacles.

Other than this counterplay issue, I think she's fine to play against. She's strong where she's supposed to be strong, and has weaknesses where she should.

illaoi feels really weak to me

I feel like she is oppressive to non-mobile or non-ranged champions. Hit one skillshot, and I am forced to go play a mini-game. Force me to fight in your ult? I instantly lose.

I would bet money that new illaoi players in their first few games get better scores than any other champ on first release, simply due to her overblown damage and lack of counterplay for so many people.

dunno i played against her with shyvana and with volibear and it was always as if i can just rightclick her because my champ is stronger and she has no mobility or cc to disengage/trade efficiently. really stupid champ.

i mean i dont have many games against her and i didnt play against really good players so whatever.

illaoi is just another flavor of darius only strong if you bring the fight to him or ignore him.
