My thoughts on autoattack animations for mages

I think bad AA problems are a balancing point that feels bad. Cassio is a fantastic example of a bad autoattack being a good balancing point, because she is supposed to be last hitting with her E. Her autos should be sparingly used, if used at all. Karthus is a fantastic example of a bad autoattack being a bad balancing point. Karthus is supposed to be last hitting with his Q, and once he has mana, does so quite efficiently, but the problem is he at some point has to use his autoattack to farm because his Q has a mana cost that doesn't refund when it kills a unit like Cassio's does. Thus, despite suffering from the exact problem Cassio faces, he is punished while Cassio is not.

Mages where bad autoattack animations make sense and do not pose a problem for the player: Cassiopeia Annie AurelionSol Malzahar

Mages where bad autoattack animations hinder the player for no reason and should be updated: Ziggs Veigar Karthus Heimerdinger Anivia Lux

I'm sure there are more examples of both sides, and I'm sure it even expands into other roles, but I've got work soon and so this is where I leave the discussion to all of you. Go wild, my friends, I'll see you soon.

In most cases, auto-attacks are not needed for mages, given they rely more on spells for damage. The only one you listed who may genuinely need the update is Ziggs given his passive.
