Few unique mages actually picked mid, either tanks, brusiers or some cc/pick mage champion that is forced to build defensively and goes Time Warp Tonic +

Why was mage mana nerfed to shit again? Why was damage buffed to absurd levels to the point where most immobile mages are trash?

Mid lane is just a second jungler role , that keeps roaming
Mages were kicked out of the lane
because 
Dominated the lane
And only 1 pick Could do well because that pick was good at roaming and escaping ganks , 
but got nerfed for being the only pick that wasn't unfun to play against by simply preventing the rest of those BS picks from snowballing
And if you play against a champion that uses Even

because this combo is literally broken
also you need sustain because junglers are (again) oppressive as fk and since mid it's the more exposed lane your laning phase ends after your first wave,after that you don't play against the enemy mid,you play against the enemy jungler and you will spend 90% of your time in avoiding ganks
if you don't build defensive and/or pick one of those standard mage you have a "dive me pls" written on your forehead
