League of coin flips.

Play well + a bad team = loss. Play bad + a good team = win. This is league of coin flips for the whole season. I was d1 with good teams, I kept climbing, then when the 0/15 bot lanes started coming onto my team, I demoted to d3-d4. Haven't played solo q since. Same thing in flex q, you get a win streak = the same amount of games lose streak. I can get destroyed by a plat 3 talon just because I have no time to react, because everything dies in half a second. Skill matters right ? If you're not some 1000 LP challenger player, games are purely based on luck and on coin flip of getting a worse or a better team. But hey, it's gonna get better in the preseason amirite. No wonder lcs viewership went down for like 100k-200k.

I was diamond 3, but this season made me quit soloQ. Tough season for someone who mains Amumu Thresh Morgana Varus Jinx Caitlyn Pantheon

Now I'm just playing Yasuo Yorick XinZhao Zyra in flexQ with friends. I check op.gg and sometimes we get 3 people with flex rank like silver, silver and gold, sometimes we get 3 diamonds. Even in terms of rank, it's coin flip. This season is a bad joke ...

Thats from your perspective. I mean you are totally right that its not all in your hands. its 9 other players as well and matchmaking is far from being fair. But play bad + a good team = win means some teammates played well + a bad teammate(you) =win. so your statement kinda debunks itself. :D

that being said the direction the game is taking the last few seasons sucks so i agree there.

It can be considered fair, that sometimes you win games despite playing bad and sometimes loose despite playing good. But it doesn't feel great if your own perrformance matters so little in wether you win or not.

Back a few years ago when games tended to be longer and teamfights lasted longer than 5 seconds it felt like everything you do was important for the outcome of the game. Your positioning in a teamfight, an important skillshot onto the enemy carry or something like flashing an enemy ult. Something as tiny as that could literally win you the game in a lategame teamfight. And when you loose, you would think back to the crucial fight, "what if i dodged that ultimate?"

And when you fight arround baron in season 8, an enemy twitch will appear "HELLO IT'S ME" and your whole team dies within 1.5 seconds because of how far powercreep has taken damage and then you ask yourself "what could I've done better", you are only left with the answer: "have a botlane that doesn't feed that hard"

I feel this on a spiritual level. The difference in skill or matchup with my bot lanes decides the game more than 50% of the time.

Oh yea i totaly agree that the current state of lol is really unsatisfying. important teamfights being decided by who can pull his combo of first is really unfun. I loved the older seasons when teams clashed and the loser attempted to disengage and reengage in a more favorable situation. All that was part of 1 teamfight. much more exciting. But it is impossible to give you as an individual player more control over the game. because if they give u more controll the other 9 gain the equal amount of control. so your actions will never have more weight than those of the other 9. I saw it in some other post that i think is very accurate 40% of games you kinda lose no matter what you do 40% of games you kinda win no matter what you do 20% of the games are really in your hand.

it seems frustrating but i mean realisticly how do you get to controll 100% of the games when the other 9 players are the same as you?

And now after typing that wall yea i can only say what i did in my first post. You sit there fight around baron and the enemy twitch pops outta nowhere and blows you up and wins the game. you had no say in it and could not prevent it. It wasnt in your hands. But that exact situation also has what you are looking for in it. That twitch guy was all like fuck yea i won my lane and I took controll and won the game. So bringing that example and saying its unfair that you couldnt prevent it is contradicting that a single player has no controll over the outcome. for you it may have ben a coinflip to lose, but for twitch it was won by his own actions. thats kinda the nature of competition. one team takes the control out of the opposing teams hand. the only way for you to truly decide the outcome 100%of the time by your skill is playing 1v1 games.

Very true and it is annoying and I do not know the exact cause of it. If I had to guess the game's damage and lane focus would be the culprit but that is just a guess.

It just means the opposing team played better as a whole. Will your performance be what swings the odds of victory away or towards you ?

I got demoted to gold 1 because of a 1-13 mord adc

The worst part about this is that now winrates aren't a very clear indicator, as you as you can play the most overpowered champion, but if a couple of your teammates are sub-par, you are more likely to lose, and that pick/ban champ recieves a lower winrate so everything slides under the radar until someone in the LCS uses it.

Any single game has always been a coin flip. This isn't anything new.

I dunno, I demoted out of challenger down into Diamond 3 this season purely off of the meta not suiting me at all. I don't know how much merit the coin flip mentality has because of that. I just play like crap in the meta after scutt butt was changed, and really hindered my team alot of the time. I've stablized now and am back in D1, soon to be masters. So it's really hard to say. What I can say since I stabilized is that games feel alot less like I have control over how the game plays out as a jungler, but overall I think its due to the MMR system playing Diamond-Challenger all in the same pool more than game being imbalanced. I hope they fix this in the future, I would prefer longer queue times to not get absurdly mismatched lanes every game.
