@Meddler Is Lucian going to be looked at anymore going into worlds?

While I'm grateful for the last set of buffs.. they didn't really help his overall winrate. In Platinum + his winrate increased by a total of 1%. Are we going to see some other small buffs before worlds?

Edit: He's supposed to be a lane bully against the likes of Jinx/Vayne, but in reality, Jinx and Vayne bully him

This is something I'm extremely interested to know as well. I know the Range complaints have been a big thing (I'm an advocate for believing in this), but I think they could do some other things to help him out. I think the recent changes were good but did little to help his early game, which isn't the smoothest ride for him right now especially when they continue to label him as a lane bully.

I've always wondered how interesting it would be if they did something to steer him back to being a Trinity Force AD Carry, like allowing both hits of Lightslinger to apply Spellblade procs. I think allowing him to benefit from rushing Trinity Force would help him immensely.

No it wouldn't because that's not his problem.

What would his problem be? I honestly think his early game is pretty trash, especially if you're comparing him to Jinx/Vayne/Kalista. Each of those champions have a safer early game, while out-scaling Lucian by around the 15 minute mark.

I'd like to see Lucian's E reset after every enemy he kills, like Tristana's W, and for his W (Ardent Blaze) when shot to the max range it slows enemies for a short time and set it to a longer CD, or just some buffs to his leveling abilities, I just want Lucian to be Meta!

those 3 ADCs are dumb i know. Compared to them, everyone comes short.

Lucian's problem is reliability (Which is a problem 90% of the champions in this game have) Lucian is meant to be the kiting ADC, but who is he gonna kite with his pathetic 500 range? you can give them as much MS as you want but he'll never kite shit with 500 range. Once it might have been a good trade off because his E had virtually no CD, but now?

Now we have a 500 range ADC who doesn't bully quite as hard as he used to, doesn't snowball like he used to, doesn't kite like he used to. His damage has never been a problem, he does fine damage but then his awful 500 range kicks in and makes it so you have to take risks that nobody else takes.

So yeah that's his problem, not being reliable as a kite ADC. Because if i wanna kite, Kalista seems better, and it's 10 times easier to use.

Also there's his awful W animation, for a champion that wants to quickly cast spells to reset his E and get passive procs his W animation being so slow makes no sense.

Totally agree, especially with the last part. His W animation is really really slow, it feel's really clunky and counter-productive to his quick use of abilities. I agree that he needs to have more access to be able to kite more effectively, currently Kalista kites much better than him and he's supposed to be the "kite ADC"

Agreed, the w is slow for a skill that does not even scale off of ad. Another problem I want to point out with the range is that Lucian cannot dash to a target and immediately get an auto attack off if he lands his w at max range of 1000. Here is the maths. Lucian dash is 425 plus 500 attack range for a total of 925. If he hits a target with w at max range of 1000, he is short 75 range of being able to dash and hit the target immediately. Some people may not even notice it, but it is there and make him clunky because I tend to assume I will land the attack and begin to back off.

If riot wants to keep his attack range at 500, then the dash should be increased to 475.

Yeah, i've noticed that, i was thinking that maybe his W should trigger the MS boost if it hits a champion to help him get in range or get away then it would work as usual where he has to damage the target to refresh the boost,, it would help greatly mitigating that horrible animation and also would help him to get in range which is something he is weak at imo.

Pretty much agree with this. And it isn't even just those three, but any Champion who out-ranges him. Lucian, lacking early Attack Speed against those with high-base Atk-Spd/high Atk-Spd per Lvl/Atk-Spd Steroids will be out-traded by any Champion with a higher range because they will hit him too many times before he can even get them in his Range. Lucian is entirely depended on his AD in the early game for his combo; if he doesn't have enough of it, he loses the trade. I think Lucian's problem is a lack of Range and early damage, for sure, but I also think AD Caster itemization is also a big problem for him (Which we have to wait until after Worlds to see).

I brought up Trinity Force because now (before Worlds and ADC Itemization changes), it is the successful First-Item power-spike for the ADCs who can utilize it. I think the stats from the pieces of it (mainly the Health and additional mobility) can help mitigate his short-ranged weakness, and the change I suggested would make the Spellblade from Sheen/Trinity Force give him another boost to last out the laning phase to transition into a strong Mid-Game.

Just food for thought since it seems like they really want him to remain a 500 Range ADC.

I love spellblade items on Lucian. The problem I find with them is the take too long to proc a second time during late game trades. I wish the activation cooldown would be reduced per hit. That way Lucian double hit would get it off cooldown faster and it would synergies with attack speed items. For example, lets say the spellblade activation was 2 seconds instead of 1.5. Every hit would reduce it's cooldown by 0.5 seconds. So champs who don't use that much attack speed would still get a cooldown of 1.5 seconds after the first hit. However, champs like lucian can better utilize the double hit portion of his kit and reduce the cooldown of spellblade much quicker. Champ with attack speed also would have the chance to better use spell blade twice if the have multiple delayed spells to use in there combo.

Also, just in general, it feels like all adcs build the same things. I would really like to see Lucian with more on hit items as that is a unique part of his kit that is so under utilized.

Yeah, I actually really like how the ADC role is split into 3 different first item paths. We have champions like Vayne and Twitch who rush BOTRK. We have the general Auto Attack heavy ADC's who rush Infinity Edge and we have the AD Casters who rush Trinity Force. I do think that throwing Lucian into the Trinity Force users would be a huge plus for him, I'm not sure though how they could make TF a deseriable first item rush on him though.

Overall, I think Lucian unique identity as a mobile adc was stolen by Kalista. He no longer has that niche and I feel he needs not just a buff in numbers, but a conditional mechanic that would make him stand out from the other adcs. Because, he has a little of everything, but is not that good at anything.

So, on another post about Lucian, someone suggested that Lucian is a light slinger, so shouldn't his w have a blind? So as you're all thinking, thats' sorta Quins thing.

But the way I thought it could be different, is, enemies that are facing his w when they get hit, get blinded, and enemies with there back turned to his w, dont get blind. Also this would not be the same blind as quin. It would be more like graves smoke shot where the entire screen of the blinded victim would go white for like 0.5 -1 seconds.

This would help lucian get a unique identity and give him conditional utility. On the other hand it might just be straight op.
