Nerf Kog's W to Make His Other Abilities Better

LaughingStapler··5 votes·445 views

The following changes were on the PBE last patch in addition to the W flat damage.

Q went up to 40% penetration R's mana cost reset after 6 seconds like pre-rework.

I think this would have made him a more interesting champion and it could have made mid Kog viable again (esp. with the unnecessary nerfs on Viktor). How about we remove 5 flat magic damage and make the ult. mana cost reset 6 seconds? I wouldn't even care for the Q change as I think it's meaningless in most scenarios anyway.

Not really. The flat damage is probably more useful than the attack speed.

No, it's a nerf early-mid game but my point isn't about nerfing W.

My point is to make his mid lane viable like pre-rework and less centric on a single ability overall. Right now, he's probably the easiest ADC to play mechanically. It's still easy to screw up positioning but once you get a few items, the AS is so high that being a god at kiting and attack-moving hardly matters for your performance. I want Kog to be a higher skillcap champ. like before and also more versatile in his playstyle.

You want to nerf his main role to make an off-build more viable? Riot has said that they aren't really ok with that, a champion should be good at their main role first and alternate lanes are OK to have as options after that.

Also, if you want a hybrid damage, long-range caster/marksman for midlane then you can play Corki.

Pre-rework, it wasn't much of an off-build and it has been around since Season 1. There were times last season when mid Kog was equally popular to ADC. Even after Kog got nerfed, his AP build always had at least 1/3 of Kog's player base - which is actually huge. It was more of an alternative role (like Lulu mid vs Lulu support) rather than an off build akin to AP MF.

Kog'maw is the on-hit adc champion, he's supposed to deal a bunch of damage when he can sit and auto attack. If you want a hybrid damage, long-range caster/marksman then you can play Corki or Ezreal.

I agree. His ADC role is too binary... can Kog utilize his full W duration to kill everything or does he die/waste it and lose the game for his team? I prefered him pre-rework when he was a much more difficult and rewarding champion. He wasn't even weaker, it just took a lot more skill to utilize him effectively compared to now. Mid lane Kog was also a terror but few people could pull it off. He was basically two champions in one with totally different playstyles and I loved that.
