How to adjust darius from a darius player

Hey guys, darius has been my favorite champion since his release and although i had doubts bout the rework it seems to have come out okay in the end. After a goo amount of games on the new darius and feeling out most matchups i've come up with some ideas for how to make him more balanced and better to play as and against. Firstly, aside from his heal which ill talk about later, his late game and mid game seem to be well balanced so im going to talk mostly about his early game.

Before I recommend my changes, i'm going to point out what about his gameplay actually changed:

  1. He now has less consistent poke(Q delay) in exchange for the ability to destroy people in drawn out fights(new passive)
  2. He lost his attack speed slow, making certain matchups much harder than before such as irelia, jax, fiora, tryn etc.
  3. He gained some serious base stats which basically made him much more forgiving to play as.
  4. He lost slight damage and an extra bleed stack if you stand close to him during Q.

Now, what we have is a champion thats more well rounded in lane due to the base stats and has less "instawin" matchups because of his lost attack speed slow, which is good. The problem I see is that he still feels unmanageable to lane against because of how he can poke melee champions from range and still be able to destroy them in a real fight. When I play as darius I always wonder why people don't just run up to me during my Q so as to not take the extra stack and damage and then just fight me(they usually could come out on top as long as i dont get to 5 stacks, which i wont). However, when I played against one I realized that the inside of his Q is actually very small to so approaching him is a bit risky because theres a good chance it still hits you with the outside and then you're up close enough to get all in'd and youre fucked.

Q To solve this, I think that what needs to happen is that his Q inner circle width should be expanded by about 50-75 units or so just to make it more reliable to walk into it and know the result. In exchange, buff the total range by about 25. This is a buff to the range of the ability, which is a horrible thought i know, but it's extremely slight and it will make the range actually match the animation which it currently does not and its really annoying.

Other changes should be that his Q heal be nerfed outright to 10/15/20/25/30% missing health based on enemies hit(same for one target, must hit all 5 to receive the same 30%)

Also, id be willing to have his Q cd increased by 1 or 2 seconds in order to have his W buffed...

W If his Q is outright nerfed by heal and cooldown as i mentioned before, itd be nice if his W could gain some slow duration at later ranks because if you look at the ability right now(40% more damage, one second slow on a decent cooldown) its really shitty and is nothing like it was before.

E Apprehend is fine i guess, im pissed that they nerfed the range AGAIN and it doesnt match the animation at all anymore but whatever.

R Guillotine is also fine, ive been having some trouble with getting the ability to go off but thats probably just me and my new keyboard im not used to and hopefully not another bug with him, which there seems to be alot of.

Base stats There were a lot of base stat changes that largely buffed him, Im not into balance enough to know exactly what could be done but id give any of his base stat buffs away for them to make his auto animation more comfortable, right now i cancel my own autos way too often because the animation and timing feels like utter shit.

tl;dr make it easier to get inside of his Q and then compensate with a much smaller range buff to match the animation. Nerf Q heal in skirmishes too 10/15/20/25/30% Nerf Q cd/buff W duration MAYBE make his auto more comfortable MAYBE

Q is getting a mana cost nerf (scaling from 30 mana at rank 1, up to 50 at rank 5) in Monday's PBE update.

So he won't be able to spam it as often as he ranks it up, will probably alleviate some of the in-lane issues somewhat.
