Still looking for some love for Sona

With the reworks for ADC's coming i'm still looking for a little love for everyone's favorite mute. Sona is so close to being great, but Riot has been so afraid of her since he was a power house all that time ago, that they refuse to give her the little boosts she needs. Let's be honest here Sona's design is a mess currently. She is balanced around team engages, which makes her early game PAINFULLY bad. Also while on paper her skills are amazing they often aren't all that great in actual play. Her damage boost often will go unused by allies, why break there combo to land an auto attack. Her heal costs an arm and a leg in the early game, for next to no value, and her shield is a joke if you look at what it gives to each ally individually. Her movement speed boost is clunky to land on allies and doesn't provide enough to give Sona the escape/movement tools she needs to be remotely safe (given her lack of a gap closer/ escape tool). None of her skills, except her ultimate, feel impactful on the game when used. Even if you manage to tag your whole team you never really feel like you make a huge difference.

I would love to actually see a full rework, where her aura's have important effects on your team. Something were Riot splits the difference between her pre rework and post rework. Instead of always on invisible power, make her aura's keep the time limits but have much bigger effects. Let's say Q gives all your allies a 1-2% damage boost per ally tagged for 2 seconds +.5 second per ally tagged. W becomes like a mini Janna ultimate where you heal a flat amount every .5-1 second in a small area around you, 2-3 second base with a + .5 second per ally. Her E might even be mostly fine where it is. I would really just like it to not degrade for Sona (it's already on a super long cooldown, can it at least offer a semi decent escape mechanic for an otherwise slow champion). If it need's improvement maybe make the powercord version a .5-1 second stun, enough to open up possibilities/ diversity in power cord choice, but not enough to totally break the ability. Most importantly though, she NEEDS better range on her auras. You can not have a character with some of the lowest health and movement speed be sitting around in the front lines just hoping the enemies ignore you the whole time.

I love Sona, i really do but as she stands she need some real love put into her. She can't not continue to exist as this champion who on paper is amazing with all her allies around, but garbage alone or with only on friend.

I thought of an example of a kind of a reverse Sona. Imagine a tank/ juggernaut character who abilities where 2% - 4% more effective per enemy champion in a 900 range. To "balance" this power all the champions abilities where very underwhelming in 1v1, and subpar against 2 enemies.... but OH MAN you go up against all 5 opponents and you are a beast. Now image that same concept but if the range of effect was cut down to 300-400. You can basically never get your spells to function as they are meant to but you are still balanced around the idea that you can/will always have 5 opponents in range.

Had an Idea about Sona. Since she is a Poke heavy with some sustain. To Make her poke better than her counter-part,( Nami). At the moment Nami does Sona's job better in every regard. More CC, better Poke( sustained off of poke). All round better to just pick Nami over Sona.

My idea was to have a secondary passive added that affected Sona's AAs. Abilities stack to proc power Chord, why not stack AAs to Proc better abilities? Increase Sona's range slightly to give her bit of leeway. And something like Stack 5 Auto's to empower the next ability. Can be stacked off minions but not wards/towers. Sona in my opinion focuses more on Zoning and controlling the lane as apposed to sustaining it.

I'm going to be honest. I cringed every single time you called her current abilities "Auras."

Auras have four basic characteristics:

  • They are AoE spells, based on the position of the caster, otherwise known as point blank area of effect (PBAoE) spells.

  • They are instant cast, and_** have no cooldown.**_

  • _**They have an infinite duration, as long as the affected target is within range of the caster, and the caster is alive.**_

  • They are not dispellable.

I say aura because that's what they use to be, and because the game insists on calling them that still.

I'm so glad I'm not an English major. I'd be pulling hair out in clumps.
