I am not okay with these Rakan changes. You are pulling another Taliyah, Riot.

I am in fact a Rakan player and i find these changes incredibly stupid. You just Taliyah'd him. While I am aware people complained about his Q range, ti was perfectly fine for the kind of champ he is given his mobility.

And what confuses me most is you did this in the same patch where you explicitly state that he should b the kind og guy that is more In yht opponents face than sitting back and playing safely.

And in exchange for overbuffing his Q to the point where he is too safe when using it, you needlessly nerf his bread and butter E shield and buff hsi damage on W, because god forbid a new champ (especially a higher skill cap champ) not be overpowered on release.

Just. Riot is gonna pull back over when people start complaining about how overpowered he is a few days later, and he will be nerfed in all the wrong places just as Taliyah was. And for completely petty and stupid reasons.

Please Riot, Reconsider before it is too late. I don't wanna see another Taliyah all over again.

You realize Taliyah was utter garbage, right? Rakan is playable. Taliyah was not

She was perfectly balanced. They buffed her and then changed her only to nerf her subsequently thereafter without reverting the changes they made to her.

Garbage my ass.

A 38% Winrate is not perfectly balanced.

Release Syndra had a similar win rate back then, all they did was tidy up her kit flow to get rid of some clunkiness and she stayed in low-mid 40s on NA until OMG Cool showed NA how to Syndra. Win rates, especially on newly released champions don't mean much. Or rather, mean very little without context.

Syndra needed bug fixes like crazy, Taliyah needed tons of buffs Rakan has neither of those issues.

Even after she got them, she was still low-mid 40s win rate until after S3 worlds and OMG Cool showing NA how it's done on Syndra. Next changes she got, iirc, were nerfs a bit later when her OPness was revealed.

I didn't bring up Taliyah because she wasn't relevant to my point: which is that win rates on newly released champs mean very little on their own.

She was actually pretty balanced, I would argue one of the most balanced champions on release that riot has ever made. The reasons for her low winrate early is because she has a pretty high learning curve and is hard to play well.

Then what happened was people complained she was too weak when she wasn't, was given buffs, then when people actually learned how to play her she was too strong so they nerfed her again. Now we've come full circle and she's completely balanced again but people are complaining that she needs buffs because of how they can't easily stomp with her.

Every champ has a low winrate on release. You can't use winrate for the first couple weeks to try and define how well they are doing. Hell I'd say maybe even for a month or two.

However if I do recall, Taliyah was really having issues when she got released and was leaning more towards the "I'm having trouble doing well" side than "I'm doing aight" side.

I feel like as far as new champs go she didn't make much of an impact.

And Yasuos was to and he got buffed, and then when people learned how to play him, he got nerfed several quantum tons more than he ever got buffed to begin with. New release champ winrates dont mean anything.

What kind of argument is that? I stopped playing league as much in general in those 2 weeks. Before then i lowkey mained Rakan. He didnt get any major changes at all since then besides the buff i am talkign about right now.

Al;l this is is a shitty tier dismissal tactic.

No he didn't because he has a non targeted Mobility spell with CC and ally targted dashes, and can Q easily during the CC. It is way to easy to proc now for how mobile he is.

My boyfriend also plays Rakan and just played with the new changes yesterday. He approves of them.

His auto attack range is the lowest out of every support, with melee being 250 and he's at 300. He harasses much better with his Q in lane and the range on his Q was also pretty low. Increasing the damage on W allows him to do more once he dives into the enemy and the increased range on Q allows him to poke/heal up easier without having to take damage to do it.

If you're taking damage to get that little heal then what's the point of trying to heal.

Very convincing argument. /s

His Q isn't for nor is it even good for harass. its for the heal to come out even in trades.

Increasing the damage on W allows him to do more once he dives into the enemy and the increased range on Q allows him to poke/heal up easier without having to take damage to do it.

And this is a problem because it makes him to well rounded. He has way to much safety net for his Q now for a mobile champion that is supposed to go in. It makes him too safe for the kind of champ he is.

If you're taking damage to get that little heal then what's the point of trying to heal. The heal isn't little, it is moderate, and he has a passive shield precisely to sue in tandem with said heal to come out on top with trades. He also has E as a constant safety net when doing so.

he doesn't need and shouldn't have a very safe long ranged heal

It's almost as if certain heal supports' healing abilities don't also double as harass. Hmm, maybe like Nami W or Soraka Q. It's his only form of safe poke and also doubles as harass. You can poke with it. You also get a heal out of landing it. It does 2 things at once. What a crazy concept.

And this is a problem because it makes him to well rounded. He has way to much safety net for his Q now for a mobile champion that is supposed to go in. It makes him too safe for the kind of champ he is.

How does damage make him any safer than he was before....? 0 correlation? All they did was increase the damage on W. And if he's right in the middle of the enemy team anyways the increased range on the Q means nothing because the enemy is all around him, he's going to land it even if the range was shorter. He didn't have issues landing Q once he W's in before, because once again, increasing the range allows him to better use the Q in lane, not fights. That's the whole point of increasing the range. The range means nothing if the enemy is right in front of you in a fight because you put yourself right in front of them.

he doesn't need and shouldn't have a very safe long ranged heal

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA so the guy that has to dive RIGHT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ENEMY TEAM doesn't deserve a heal? He's not as tanky as a Thresh or Nautilus. He has to dive repeatedly into the enemy, how the hell is he going to do that if he can't heal himself up a bit afterwards? That means he's only good for 1 or 2 dives and then he has to sit back and passively heal because he has no way to recover quick enough, especially when he can't use Relic well.

**You have 4 games with Rakan with a 25% winrate, maybe play him or play with him a bit more before coming to the boards acting like you know what you're talking about. **

I didn't claim that dmg was what makes him too safe but nice strawman there, m8

Im not talking about in the middle of a teamfight obviously.

What the increased range lets him do is avoid getting close to get it off in the first place...on a champion that is supposed to go in.... It means he has far less situations where he has to commit to anything.

Yes, clearly i got to level 6 with him after only 4 games. At least do your research, lmao.

First off, what r u 12? Second, I didn't say he shouldn't have a heal, i said he should have a long ranged one. Please stop intentionally strawmanning my points.

You seem to think his heal is only good for healing during trades. As I've explained, with words, it doubles as harass in lane. I even used examples with other champs. Nami W doubles as heal and harass. Soraka Q doubles as heal and harass. Rakan Q doubles as heal and harass. And before you mention cooldowns, Nami's W is only 2 seconds less than Rakan's Q. It also costs more.

Im not talking about in the middle of a teamfight obviously. What the increased range lets him do is avoid getting close to get it off in the first place...on a champion that is supposed to go in.... It means he has far less situations where he has to commit to anything.

Except...he doesn't? Tell me, what is the point of going in for a small heal if you are taking damage for it? Ok, you land the heal and get it, awesome, but it actually heals nothing but the damage you took to go get it. Do you see the problem there? You are taking damage in order to heal yourself. That makes no sense. What's the point of using the Q then if you are just healing off the damage you took to go in and get it. Increasing the range allows him to actually get something off landing his heal which he still has to aim in a lane full of minions.

You land the ability that's on a high cooldown, get the heal...and then are rewarded nothing because it's healing off the damage you had to take to actually get it unless your enemy laner is stupid and ignored you. In that case you're lucky.

The heal he has, which once again, he has to aim, has a longr range than other healing supports (except Sona) but it's different than other supports. He isn't like Sona or Nami or Raka or Bard where you just press a button and bam, heals (which are better than his). He has to first aim it and actually hit it and then give it to his laner. In fact I'm pretty sure he's the only support that doesn't just press a button for free heals.

If he doesn't have a heal that is longer ranged then he is very vulnerable to harass when he goes to get it and the only thing he heals off is the damage he took to go and try to get the heal (which happened a lot). Increasing the range on Q allows him to get the heal if he aims right from a farther distance so he is actually rewarded for getting it.

This is something he needed, only person I'm really seeing having a problem with it is you.

I genuinely want to comprehend what you're saying when you compare this melee support to a control mage like Taliyah? These are very healthy changes to Rakan. Considering his mobility and the huge changes to support starter items, the issue may be yourself. You may have to take into account that Rakan simply isn't for you hun.
