Also keep in mind that no champion in season 2 worlds had over 90% pick/ban rate but in season 6 we have multiple ones, the most broken being nidalee at 100% pick/ban rate, and that there have been over 20 more champions released since season 2 ended.

So much for strategic diversity.

Tell me more how this worlds is just as diverse as the other ones.

Keep in mind that in season 2 we also didn't have 130 champions, which means it was better if you want to know why so much champions were picked.

it was because bruisers were balanced and before you downvote, go watch season 2, we had double bruiser viable, and we had double ap stacking will of the ancient (aura used to be stackable, then it was removed) viable. Then xypherous happened, and his total bias toward bruisers, nerfing atma (and nerfing the wrong thing) then removing it, nerfing with'end nerfing trinity force. removing force of nature.

Much xypherous, wow, brusiers anti-fun.

only position that had no diversity was botlane, since ezreal and corki were the only one picked.

I miss you season 2 diversity

I mean you were not as diverse as Dota 2 with like a 90% rate of heros being used at least once but you were better then season 6.

wait, what? Since when was Worlds, the place where they only pick the best and most viable champions for competitive play, supposed to be diverse?

SSShutTheDuckUp4 votes

ever since players want balanced game where most of the champions are viable, and not just 1/3 of the pool

Slythion2 votes

that's not the point of LCS/competitive pick though, there will always be a set of champions that are better in pro play than regular solo q

In regular ranked 95% of the roster is perfectly viable. There's even some champs who are completely useless in LCS that are super strong in a regular ranked game. Because of how the pro games are structured there's some champs that simply will never be viable unless they're borderline OP. For example, you don't want to play a champion that relies on kills to scale. Most pro games end like 10-8 in kills, compared to ranked where games go 60-50. You also don't want a champion that has to AFK farm the jungle for the first 20 minutes to be useful.

That is true. I also prefer it this way - I would 100% prefer the game I play to be diverse, instead of the the pro games I watch. Doesn't change the fact that pro scene has been pretty boring lately (partially because they end up 8-10 kills). Watching rotations might be interesting for pros, but I prefer action

22 champions for Season 6 are picked/banned in at least 30% of the games, where it's 19 for Season 2.

I mean, it's ridiculous that Nidalee and Syndra are picked/banned in pretty much every game, but it isn't as if Season 2 ended up being that much more diverse over 31 games.

It was basically Ezreal ADC (vs. w/e ADC the other player settled for, Kog/Corki usually), Sona/Alistar/Blitz Supp, Jayce/Shen/Irelia Top, Orianna/Karthus/Anivia Mid, Maokai Skarner Jungle.

Also, never mind the fact that 5 champions didn't even see play and 10 didn't even win a single game, compared to 2 and 3 in Season 6.

Ez, Corki, and Graves were the 'trinity'. That was the majority of stale picks right there.

Everything else was far, far more diverse than you're suggesting.

i dont understand why people bitch about champ diversity at the pro level. The pros will always play what is either the best at the time, or the most consistent. They play on one patch. We shouldnt expect much diversity. to be completely honest, 40 is all i ever expect to see. 8 champs per position. Being the odd case that somehow the teams ban 6 midlaners then i expect 2 more = 8. When it was gragas reksai, i loved it. I wanna see the best played by the best

Pro play was different in season 2. Not as good, not as serious. The game has been "solved" to a much higher degree now.

Maybe balance was better in season 2, or maybe pros just weren't as good at figuring out how it wasn't. (could be a mix of both, really)

last season they picked veigar

that was hype asf but short lived

no short joke intended..

Wait till we are out of the Best-of-one group stage. You don't pick much outside of proven known power picks when every game is do-or-die. You can't just come back next game and pick up a win to take the series.

so fucking what

if league was balanced entirely around competitive play the winrates for casual play would look more like dota's

you know

with winrates ranging from 60% to 35%

just look at this shit

and guess what? omniknight is shit tier in competitive play. for him to be viable in professional play he has to be absolutely broken in casual play

is that what you want league to look like?
