Talon

I have two Talon skins I got from mystery gifting (thanks mystery gifts!) and I've probably played Talon three times in my whole League of Legends life. He's supposed to be extreamly good, but I'm so bad with him. I do so bad early game I get little to no farm, get bullied so much and usually die 2-3 times. I just can't handle early game talon, I can't cheese people. Can anyone give me tips on how to play Talon, how to use him right, and mainly how do you farm and zone when you go against people who can poke and push lane super fast.

He's not the worst pick for midlane either, though - gotta give credit where it's due.

His one biggest shortcoming if you ask me is his mana dependence. Considering absolutely no other champion is both effective ONLY as a laning AD assassin as well as being limited by mana (see Fiora duelist; MasterYi bruiser; Shaco most effective in the jungle and has useful AP ratios) it's kind of easy to counter his kill potential simply by forcing waves into his tower over and over forcing him to use W to clear or miss a ton of CS while taking harass, in which case you either a) starve him of mana or b) starve him of CS.

Also not nearly as safe to play as others like Zed Riven

As for the last point, poking and pushing lane fast - you don't. Don't go up against an Orianna or Syndra, you'll just get annihilated with proper mechanics.

Start flask, use your W to harass and clear waves simultaneously.

This is a hard subject to comment on. Talon is hands down my favorite assassin and favorite champion in the game.

I've got a screen shot somewhere on my computer where I went 44/7 with him. On the opposite spectrum I've had games where I come up completely useless. This is Talon's delimma, he either does really really good or horribly bad.

His strengths are his massive damage which he can pull off instantaneously with little to no counterplay and his ability to go invisible to jump on enemies or attempt an escape.

His weaknesses however are large in number. First off he is extremely mana reliant and will starve out if you try to poke with rake. And since all of his abilities scale with bonus ad, you'll be wanting to get every ounce of AD items you can to remain viable. He also lacks the utility that other assassins like Leblanc, Zed and Katarina have. Meaning, if Talon jumps in on you and doesn't kill you he's dead. He's not like LB who can bug out when shit turns sour, likewise with Zed. Also his Rake is not a good poke considering that most people mid outrange you in many aspects, and with Talon no longer having his silence he honestly doesn't counter nearly as many people as he did before.

One really big gripe I have with Talon is the fact that he fills no niche. If you place Talon next to Zed or other assassins of his ilk, Talon comes up lackluster and short compared to his counterparts. Besides Talon needing a new skin, he also needs to have an interrupt applied to his E to make him useful again, but sadly I don't see that happening anytime soon. /rant end

That being said I'm going to move on to some of your points.

Talon will get bullied, it's the nature of the beast and his short range, this is why you take flask for. Talon will never be able to early game cheese someone like other assassins can, he simply does not have the burst or mana without items, unless your enemy is completely idiotic and allows you to poke him with rake. And farming with Talon is the hardest thing you can ever do, do you farm with rake and mana starve yourself? Or Do you let them poke you and trade with you so you can last hit with your autos?

There's a great Master Tier Talon main that streams fairly often. His Channel is Killer Cruiser, and his account's name is Scrumm. You should check out his guide as well. You can find everything you need at twitch.tv/killercruiser
