Annie has no counterplay.

In lane as Xerath she can actually Ult Q E and kill me at level 7. How is this fair? I can't even cast an ability because she instantly stuns me. There is no room for counterplay. Yes, I get stomped by an Annie, and yes Xerath "outranges" Annie but that doesn't matter since the second she gets in range she drops her ultimate on me and I die instantly. Why even play champions that have to aim when Annie can do twice as much damage without even trying.

Annie is short range.

Xerath is super long range.

If your getting in range to be nuked by anyone in lane, your playing Xerath wrong.

in what situation as Xerath are you ending up in range of Annie without jungler interference

The situation where she flashes into you and ults you, the situation where she walks up to you while you are trying to farm and just ults you, the situation where she comes from a bush and kills you, the situation where she flanks you... need any more examples of where range doesn't mean shit?

If you flash in time, you can avoid getting killed. Even if she walks up to deny you farm, your q is insane range that allows you to harass annie and farm at the same time. If you ever get ambushed by annie from a bush, it is your fault. you have q, w, e which range is all superior to annie's ult to check bushes. If she can flank you, it means you are outpositioned.

The situation where she flashes into you and ults you,

Stun, Flash, and Tibbers are up? Keep your distance. You're Xerath.

the situation where she walks up to you while you are trying to farm and just ults you

Don't run up to them if she's near them and has her stun/Tibbers available. You're Xerath.

the situation where she comes from a bush and kills you

If you don't keep your bushes warded while laning, you're begging for that to happen. It doesn't matter if you're Xerath or if she's Annie.

the situation where she flanks you... need any more examples of where range doesn't mean shit?

If you're laning, same as above. If teamfighting, don't ignore her. Play like an ADC and stay the hell away. You're Xerath.

She's like Akali: short range, but point and click.

If you want to beat her, either invest in some MR (banshees veil is perfect) or stay out of range and kite her. Plenty of champions have more range than her.

Or you can stun her back and nuke her. Midlaners nuke, how is this new? She's got a stun, but that's it. Ahri has a charm, Syndra has a slow AND stun, and there's always Galio who can take her magic and like it.

Ahri and Syndra have to actually aim their stuns, Annie just drops it right on top of you. Veigar was reworked for the very same reason, except Annie's deals a shit ton of damage to EVERYONE and is way easier to aim, and is in no way similar to Akali. Akali has to at least be on top of you, annie does it all from range.

Then stay out of range and build a banshee's veil. If she smart, she'll proc her passive on minions (since you're out of range) and then try to hit you, which then BV will activate.

Her range sucks. Hell, if you want to exploit counterplay, get a champion with high mobility like Leblanc or Zed and hit her before she has a chance to react.

For ganks, have the jungler come in from the opposite direction so she can only stun one of you. Once her stun is down, she's going down like tissue paper.

Why would I rush Banshee's Veil on Xerath?

IcyPepper2 votes

Not every champion has to build full damage.

And Annie has no mobility. If you're good at aiming (like any Xerath should), your ult far outranges her. Force a flash first, of course, but I think you could beat her.

Stop going into close range for your passive, dumbass.
