This might be greedy, but can we get the 'grey health' thing on ekko?

Revali··74 votes·5,810 views

Now I'm not saying I want him buffed in anyway, rengar getting to see how much he'll heal potentially back would be nice as its essentially ekko's ult heal except on a basic ability

it'd be nice information to know when to stun/cc him to prevent him to get that healing, etc.

Ekko was the original user of grey health back in development (even before Tahm Kench)

I ended up removing the mechanic because it was making his health bar feel more confusing without impacting his decision making. At the end of the day, you rewind on Ekko to pop someone with the damage or save yourself from certain death. The amount of health you'll be getting doesn't tend to impact your decision making like it would a Tahm Kench.

Since you're here. What are you feelings on how Ekko has turned out? I don't mean this in a gameplay and balance way, but rather in how you had a vision for how he would be used and yet people have instead used him in ways that were never intended and go against what you envisioned for him. I'm someone that wants to, someday, be a game designer and I was curious as to how it feels to see a creation not turn out how you wanted them to.

Yasuo was intended to be an experiment to see if they could make a melee ADC. hence the wind wall to block projectiles, infinite gap close, and extended attack range on Q.

HE prevents harass, gets into attack range, and farms from relative safety. Only problem is that people figured out his kit works much better in solo lanes where you have half the enemies to contend with, dont have to share XP, and potentially even get rid of ranged harass all together.

its a kit that works perfectly at what it's intended to do while just working better in unintended roles.

Gypsy please answer Specter's question. I've been wondering the same... Like how Vi became a jungler instead of a top laner, ekko became a tank/AP fighter.

If it was me who made something but people use it in a way that it wasn't designed, Idk if I'd be able to move to the next. But you've been able to design 5. Not 1, but 5.

Now that there are more champions using the mechanic and that the clarity cost would be cheaper, would you consider adding it back to Ekko? Or do you think your earlier results still stand? Because from my little experience, I don't take the amount healed into account only because I don't know how to gauge it.

Ekko ; Ruining the game even before release.

NERF EKKO.

This has been asked before, and a Rioter said they don't plan on adding it in. Something about how Ekko mainly ults based on where it will take him, rather than how much it will heal him. Still something they should look back into tho.

dragon1xx1 votes

The ults to move is bs. There is this thing. It is called Tankko. It relies off the healing from his ultimate to stay alive.

EDIT: I'm not saying Tankko is healthy. I'm saying the healing is what makes Tankko work.

And they're actively trying to remove Tankko, so they certainly wouldn't add a feature in support of it.

"Actively" seems like a strong word, haven't they been trying to kill it for a full year by now?

The Blue Rajah1 votes

They have. And they're removing the slow from his passive in the assassin update. I consider that actively.

Auz the Ripper1 votes

"Actively" and "Successfully" are very different words

EndlessSorcerer4 votes

Considering they are gutting Tank Ekko in the coming patch, I doubt they plan to support that playstyle.

Ralanr3 votes

There's this thing. It is called trash. It's where Tankko should belong.

I Q1 votes

Yeah, Ekko players already have to pay attention to too much stuff when ulting.

  1. Your W position (After the rework)
  2. Your ult position
  3. The relative position of people to your ult
  4. Predict people's movements
  5. Predict your ult's movements
  6. Predict your Ult's radius

Honestly, there are move in different scenarios and I do not think we need more. So I don't think we need that Gray Health thing. I think it will do more harm then good.

If we can buff him, absolutely why the heck not.

They took away a ton from him. THEN THEY FINALLY REMOVE WHAT MAKES HIM A TANK. Then they forget to revert some of the huge changes that hurt him, and now he's terrible.

EDIT: PEOPLE READ, I'M SAYING BUFF EKKO AS AN ASSASSIN. PLEASE READ FIRST!

dragon1xx5 votes

hes not supposed to be a tank...... wtf

AirKingNeo1 votes

Yeah, they literally did what they always do.

Nerf

Nerf

Nerf

Nerf

Another nerf

STILL BEING PLAYED HOW THEY DON'T LIKE

NERF THAT TAKES AWAY WHAT MAKES THEM IN THAT BAD PLAYSTYLE

Now you're left with a gutted champion. Why not revert the nerfs that happened BEFORE the major gutting of what made them unhealthy.

Like I've got 9 downvotes, but did people even read what I said? Or did they just see "Ekko" and "buff" and think "F___ you!", and decide not to realise I'm talking about them taking away small things, gutting them, and leaving them left to die. Like we did with Shyvana, Jax, ect.

But he's not supposed to be a tank...

AirKingNeo1 votes

What about it? I never said he has to be a tank. Read what I'm saying first. I said that he was nerfed so much as a champion, then they nerfed how he was played a tank. Now he's an assassin who is terrible because he was nerfed as a champion.

Critmaster Garen2 votes

this would be a nice visual clarity impovement for both sides.

dont forget to make the thing take grievous wounds into account and only show how much it will actually heal.

I Q1 votes

I actually would find it better for his opponents.

I'd dislike this change on Ekko.

I started confused and then i realized this would be a nice QOL

NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! SHOO RIOTERS, DON'T YOU EVEN. GET LOST! DON'T TOUCH EKKO, EVERY TIME Y'ALL TOUCH EKKO, I GAIN A BIT MORE NaCl. Ekko Fuck this guy.[zombie-brand-facepalm] [zombie-brand-mindblown]

its not just a buff for ekko.

imagine youre playing garen, darius or chogath against him, and you can judge if your ult will kill him after the heal, before he actually ults.

i think it would be nice to be able to just instantly execute him after his ult by hovering over his shadow, because you know how much its going to restore.

this goes for a lot of situations, not just those 3 champions.

Spartan Potatoes2 votes

Granted, this is an excellent point. I misunderstood and thought that "grey health" for Ekko was meant to "heal him over time" like Tahm Kench. That would be incredibly unbalanced IMO [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I Q1 votes

That wouldn't work, he is untargetable when he ults.

when he ults, but not after.

the point is to know if you can execute him after he ulted. hovering your cursor over his shadow when you see the animation and finish him off.

I Q1 votes

Hmmm, I feel as if this could of been a good change before this rework, but with the way his ultimate is being changed, I think it would be better to leave it out.

NaCl is salt, more specfically table salt for anyone that doesnt know.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

Actually I'm pretty sure when they talked about Ekko and grey health they said "it would put too many colors on his health bar" because of his W shield.

reaperteaser8 votes

but kled can have 4 colors in his?

Ralanr3 votes

Kled can't press a button to get a bunch of HP back. He has to hit people.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

I'm just saying what I remember. This discussion was from back when Tahm Kench was released. Kled came out a year later.

Sire Hippington1 votes

You know that his ult changes from a %of damage taken in the last 4 sec to a raw flat amount increasing with missing health, so he won't need greyhealth next patch anyway.

Teridax681 votes

I support this. I strongly believe there should be a standard for similar effects across champions: if one champion has a heal for damage recently taken, and has a Grey Health indicator to add clarity, then every champion with the same mechanic should also have Grey Health. Now that we have both Tahm Kench and Rengar with the effect, there's no real reason for Ekko to not have it as well.
