It really irks me when people dont build executioners vs draintanks/sustained damage dealers.

when you see champions like Illaoi Aatrox Vladimir Swain, champions like these

a mere 800 gold makes their healing much more manageable.

Maybe because I'm silver 3 or something, but I genuinely don't get why people don't spend the mere 800 gold for an item (Atleast sometime in laning) to help against them.

you don't even have to finish it.

I once won a game of One for All as Bard vs Illaoi because of Executioner's. Seriously people, Riot gave you an item that cripples a major part of many champions kit, use it.

WoonStruck4 votes

Its not just silver. People up to diamond 2 even refuse to buy it.

Yeah, it builds into a mortal reminder which useless against tanky sustain

I don't play Soraka much (I usually play tanky supports since my allies seem to love picking squishy champions) and what happens?... I end up against a Caitlyn who very early buys item 3123.... and it hurt so much and made me feel so useless

elon wątroba2 votes

I love to pick mf/sivir into raka. Both sivir's w and mf's r proc wounds.

Dr Poro3 votes

All sources of physical damage proc item 3123 But yeah, those are nice abilities to proc wounds on multiple targets at once.

TTK Dreadnought2 votes

Yea, i run 2x lifesteal quints on my ADC pages because it allows me to adjust my item sets early without losing the Doran Blade sustain (or just increases it more...)

Like it allows me to buy item 3123 on my first back to negate the opponent's heal and/or healing support

Champion Skin1 votes

item 3123 is such an absurdly powerful item against healers (especially Soraka as pretty much all of her power is in her healing) Like 800 gold for 15 AD which is worth 525 gold so you are kind of paying 275 gold for the passive that destroys enemy healers

Spicy Rice1 votes

Honestly, i feel like the effect of it should only work on auto attacks. I was playing against a zed as mundo once, and i felt completely useless. Once he got a little bit of cdr, my whole kit became useless as i could never regen any hp

TTK Dreadnought1 votes

I was playing my normal Illaoi game last night versus a nasus. He was actually extremely good at killing my tentacles nearby but because he kept killing the tentacles, he fell behind in CS compared to me (tentacle gold < minion gold). he lost two towers before i lost my first tower, and even then it required multiple people and i still took his third tower about a minute after.

Executioner is just priceless sometimes.

Will 100% agree with you.

I'm an Illaoi main and i will buy Executioners/Mortal Reminder just because my damage is so spread out. it shreds the tanks even further while cutting the other ADC's sustain down in addition to any sustain champs.

That's the thing most people forget about Mortal Reminder.

Even though the armor penetration has little use against squishies, the Grievous Wounds do not. If you cut down the enemy ADC's sustain, they will have less of a chance of winning fights, less of a chance of winning 1x1s, and less of a chance of surviving against your team's assassin (if you have one). There are even many non-ADC champions which are squishy and rely on sustain to be effective, such as Akali and Master Yi.

Mortal Reminder is arguably a better general item to use than Lord Dominik's Regards, which is only really useful against tanks that have little or no sustain, such as Malphite, Gragas, and Rammus.

Really would have thought the item 3071 would provide enough armor pen for Illaoi, then again when I play her I feel like my slaps do nothing to tanky targets so I think I will give item 3033 a try next time, hopefully doesn't make me too squishy.

TTK Dreadnought2 votes

Illaoi only need 2 tank items most of the time

This is one of the builds i do if im going for more damage orientated item 3071 item 3812 item 3143 item 3065 item 3111 [Situational]

Situational can be any of these item 3033 item 3025 item 3142 item 3078 Normally i rush Iceborn Gauntlet as 2nd item to finish the 40% CD, but its also the main item i will trade with others when i think i need to. The situatiional item can always be a item 3068 item 3102 too if needed

edit: maybe i'll do an armor pen build to see how devastating it is... item 3071 item 3142 item 3147 item 3078 item 3812 item 3033

I'm definitely building her too tanky. But when I build damage I often get poked down and low health by the time I am in position for a good ult, I guess that's just the weakness of her (which wouldn't be nearly as bad if they didn't destroy her E)

Also what do you think of item 3053 and item 3748 on her it's what I build on Darius

Dr Poro1 votes

You're not building her too tanky. The most reliable build for her is item 3071 item 3053 item 3065 item 3742

Higher damage builds can be more fun, but if they focus you, you'll have to be careful lategame.

TTK Dreadnought1 votes

Steraks is a situational item and i dont recommend building it unless required. Buying Armor/MR/Health items are more beneficial because she's a high sustain tank. I only buy Steraks if there's a strong AP burst champ with Morello because it delays the morello trigger long enough to heal back up.

And i prefer item 3143 over item 3742. Even if you buy item 3025, its a guaranteed 35% slow for 4 secs and has a slightly larger radius than your Leap of Faith trigger. Randiun lets you hit the first couple waves of tentacles, while IBG lets you stick to your primary target longer.

And Titanic is fine if you already have some armor/MR. I dont use it often on her even though her W procs it and her waveclear is already amazing mid game.

item 3071 item 3025 item 3748 would cause a lot of AOE damage though.

Play 2 Illaoi games to test out your build, don't actually get to test anything out because of ranged toplaners. Now I remember why I stopped playing Illaoi ######Fuck this game and Riot

(which wouldn't be nearly as bad if they didn't destroy her E)

In all the game's i've played. The E change was a net buff and is more reliable now.

That 60% CDR would be devastating if there weren't a cap.

it irks me when people think I should focus on counterbuilding tanks when my farm is already suffering and the rest of their team isn't building what i'd be countering. A mere 800 gold yes but it prevents me from getting that 1050g item I needed, costs me thousands of gold overtime if I don't do well because of it, and it also takes up a build slot which will also cost me unless I complete the item which may be a terrible idea considering how niche it is and how its usually not worth until later in the game ven if they do stack the stat it counters.

TTK Dreadnought1 votes

Because when a Yasuo builds item 3046 item 3072 item 3031 as his first 3 items and people complain about him not dying, yet they wont spend the 800 gold to shred the sustain keeping him alive....

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

in the case of yasuo, with this build especially, you'd be better off just building more burst instead of trying to counter his meager armor and nearly irrelevant sustain compared to the damage that makes it function.

Champion Skin1 votes

Actually item 3123 is quite efficient giving AD worth 525 gold making the passive only cost around 275 gold... kind off Which makes it so worth it especially if you are against Soraka in lane and the enemy has more healing/sustain champions (275 gold to make Soraka a lot weaker seems like it would be so worth it)

ADC's (with crit build) aren't that likely to get to full build as they build some of the most expensive items in the game And when you do sell it you only lose 240 gold which seems worth it to have that powerful and useful passive for quite a long time (or you can keep it and upgrade it into item 3033 )

Poske1 votes

Or you could just do more dmg with Lords Dominik... instead of reducing their healing

This is how most people feel about that item

I only see Exe calling often vs Soraka

TTK Dreadnought2 votes

Yea, but versus heavy sustain champs like Vladimir Swain Illaoi who outheal that bonus damage, dominik doesnt do much. Mortal also cuts down the ADC's sustain which is one of the reasons they can even live in chaotic teamfights. Dominiks is best against champs like Rammus Malphite Amumu Alistar Garen Nautilus

And no one says you cant buy a item 3036 and an item 3123

Champion Skin1 votes

Well actually against Illaoi and Darius it isn't always necessary as their healing relies on actually hitting enemy champions with an ability.... though you usually can't rely on allies to be able to avoid those abilities so there is that

kile1471 votes

That is a fair point. GW will still help you burst them down as a team to prevent them from winning 5v1, but it's not like Vlad where you need it to kill him in almost any situation .

YJRBqwXJcS1 votes

people dont even build void staff and last whisper

you expect them to build executioners?

lmfao

Dr Poro1 votes

It doesn't only happen in silver. People are very used to their builds and sometimes just forget to look around and reflect. In ranked, I often start off with talking about the team comps and our strategies and builds. I don't dictate what to do, but I say stuff like "I think Excecutionner's would be really great against their vlad and soraka" or "we need to watch out for Evelynn ganks, better hug those turrets". I say things as if it's advice to the team in general even if when it's mainly directed at one person. This way, it comes over as less aggressive and the message comes at the front. Also, during the lategame I often use pings to say what to do next. When we are killing the inhib turret and I see the enemies are about to respawn, I ping 2x to back off 1 second before the turret dies. Your team will finish that turret, but everyone will know that it's time to back off afterwards. If you'd ping the moment the turret falls, 2 out of 4 people will probably move towards the inhib instinctively while the other 2 retreat wisely. This is a recipe for disaster. When the mid inhib is down, I ping to retreat from mid and I ping on the sidelane turrets and say "push sidelane, nothing to do mid". Even in diamond, people return to the middle lane after their inhib has fallen as if it's the only path to go. By using pings to direct my team on a subtle way, I've found myself climbing rather easily even though my micro skills are terrible.

Matezoide1 votes

It is because this game has had cookie-cut builds for years now. Actually adapting your build beyond a bit more armor/MR is an alien concept to tons of players.

TheThomTanksWell1 votes

I believe it is because they do not see many pros build it. Most people who play League of Legends are slaves to what someone else says. If they have not seen it on a build/guide or on a pro then it means nothing and sucks. As to me(I do not main AD as I tank and most of them are AP) I forgot that made it viable again by givivng it an upgrade. I remember when it WAS worthless because it stopped at Executioner's Calling. It had little late game punch. More often teams depended on ignite and Morello's. I do have to agree that it is a must have when fighting those types of champs but most players are scrubs copying something they saw somewhere else and cannot deviate from their build paths.

Champion Skin1 votes

item 3123 only costs 800 gold while giving 15 AD which is worth 525 gold meaning you only pay around 275 gold for the passive (if you can make use out of the AD) So it is a rather powerful laning item against someone who really rely on healing to be strong useful (the biggest example is of course Soraka)

And if you don't want item 3033 in your finished build you can sell item 3123 when you run out of inventory slots and you only lose 240 gold which I think is well worth it given how powerful the passive can be

AninLegions7771 votes

This isn't limited to Silver man. There are legit D5 players that don't do this. Ask them why they don't get it early and they say "but but we want moar dmg". Like DAFUQ?!

I was upset at our irelia today because she didnt build this item versus the illaoi with deaths dance. He went 3/7 I think. I was vayne and the only one to get it. #Feelsbadman

Champion Skin1 votes

item 3123 if you are an AD champion is pretty amazing costing only 800 gold and giving AD worth 525 gold (35 gold per AD X 15 = 525) so really you are only paying like 275 gold for the passive if you make good use out of the AD (though it does take an item slot but that won't be much of a problem before later on in the game)

Sasogwa1 votes

Honestly, meh. Sustain is cool but is actually not that good unless the guy is fed. Just build more damage and you can kill the guy. If you kill him fast enough, he won't sustain. Yes that sounds stupid, but that's how it is especially in today's meta where damage is crazy strong.

Lovelle1 votes

I don't prioritize it because there are more important damage items to get first. Unless a sustain champ is fed, I won't bother with EC until I have at least two core items.

AnOtterFailure1 votes

I had an ADC fight me and call me bad because I was like "IT'S 800 GOLD! JUST BUILD IT. DEAL WITH THE SORAKA THAT HAS PREVENTED US FROM GETTING A SINGLE KILL. TAKE THE 400 HEALS AND MAKE THEM 200 GOD DAMN." Eventually we were so shut down I went ahead and built it on Morgana because I couldn't afford Morellos. Literally the only times we killed anyone when Raka was around.
