Please let us chose our Language for Voice actors

PhantomGG·7/19/2019, 8:29:44 PM·54 votes·15,035 views

America, Common languages spoken in america

-English -Spanish -Mandarin (we have quite the chinese community in the usa) -French (we literally have a place in canada where the only language spoken is FRENCH) -Korean (Pretty big korean population to)

Language NA server has to use? English no exceptions

Garena Server A land LITERALLY with only Chinese descendants where almost all of them speak Chinese as a first or second language -English once again

Can we please be allowed to CHOSE OUR DANG voice actors for the language we want. This would be a huge QOL.

  1. NA = English. Get over it chum. You can change to any language you want in the text file anyways, thats what I did on LAN. French is very prevelant in Canada, so weird you went with Mandarin

I remember modding my game files to have the Japanese voice actors. It was pretty fun to mess around with, although I prefer Garen's English voicelines. There might be a tutorial somewhere online.

I never really got why this isn't in the game's options already.

Do you know how much voice actors cost?

If you can do with English, then do. The thing I really miss from NA is the ability of being able to understand everyone and vice versa. It's just so much nicer and easier to communicate with your teammate then. I've started playing with French people recently but trying to tell them to buy x item or to go to y objective has been so fucking frustrating because half of them don't play in English.

Korean seems an odd one. You should have probably done a bit of digging before making this post. North Amrerica languages are as follows.

  1. American (jk, though you wouldn't know from these responses) (Or as the French Canadians would call it "Anglo")
  2. English 317M
  3. Spanish 121M Distant 3. French 16.4M Very distant 4. Chinese 2.8M and this is mixed between Mandarin, Hakka, Yue, Wu, Min Dong, and other varieties.
  4. Tagalog 2M
  5. Vietnamese 1.5M
  6. German 1.4M
  7. Arabic 1.3M
  8. Koean 1.2M
  9. Italian 709K

Then there's the 10 most spoken Indigenous languages in North America:

Nahuatl (Mexico) — 2 million speakers Mayan languages (Mexico) — 1.5 million speakers Zapotec (Mexico) — 400,000 speakers Mixtec (Mexico) — 400,000 speakers Mazahua (Mexico) — 350,000 speakers Totonac (Mexico) — 250,000 speakers Otomi (Mexico) — 250,000 speakers Mazatec (Mexico) — 175,000 speakers Navajo (Southwestern U.S.) — 150,000 speakers Tlapanec (Mexico) — 120,000 speakers The most spoken indigenous language in Canada is Cree, with 80,000 speakers.

For those curious: Nahuatl is a Uto-Aztecan language of Mexico. Though Classical Nahuatl--the extinct ancient language used by the Aztec Empire and recorded in mysterious glyphs--is the best-known form of the language to outsiders, modern Nahuatl is still very much a living language, with a dozen dialects spoken by more than two million indigenous Mexicans. So the ones it makes a TON of sense to add are Spanish, and French. If you want a publicity stunt, throw in Nahuatl or Navajo. The rest don't make a lot of sense tbh. Spanish and French are also the major ones where there are communities large enough that there are a lot of members that DONT speak English. Certain areas of Quebec have few EN speakers for example.

For people that expressed "file size" concerns, tons of games patch based on language selected, so will only download languages on demand.

Yes please! I want to be able to listen to Japanese voice on NA. I'd just go to JPN, but I'm one of like 8 Japanese players who ever even touch League.

Terozu7/20/2019, 5:49:25 AM1 votes

The biggest issue here is that voice lines make up a significant portion of the game's file size, which is why they've been having shorter VOs.

They could get around this by letting you download the files when you select a language though.

Please I want to hear the english Caitlyn Pulsefire acent but hace the client on english

Yordle Xayah7/20/2019, 3:22:44 PM1 votes

Latin Spanish is the only option in the LAN server, and I hate those voices so much that whenever I play there, I prefer to just mute all voice.

Look I'm not saying I wouldn't love to hear twisted Fate in Japanese considering he's the same voice actor for Dio of JoJo's bizarre adventure BUT...

..No yeah, seriously make this a thing . I need to hear twisted Fate shout muda!

ORB1TS7/20/2019, 6:47:35 PM1 votes

Well Riot isnt gonna see this here so you might wanna go post it on Reddit

toravi7/20/2019, 7:58:56 PM1 votes

Blizzard with Overwatch can do it. I have have the text in one language, and the voice in another. And it takes no time to implement it. Don't see how one big company can, and another can't.

FederationFurry7/20/2019, 11:29:19 PM1 votes

Yes, I would play Taric ALL the time
