Something that can make both light fighters and tanks unique roles that make the game feel different

Have you ever noticed that teamfights are just super explosive things where either nothing much is really happening or just everything is happening all at once? I mean, yea poke comps exist too, but the difference is really that in a poke comp, the poke happens for a while, and then after a big poke lands everything happens at once just like it always does.

Well I imagined a different way things could sometimes go today. Imagine that you didn't really know that the full engage was about to happen right after nautilus lands a hook because he might not fully engage. Hypothetically, Naut could choose to punish an off-tank for getting a lurking a little too close and then back off while his single blown cooldown rapidly regenerates.

As it stands, usually naut is going to be very careful about using that cooldown because it is an important cooldown and is also a really strong signal to his team that they should follow up. But I'm trying to change that here. I think that it shouldn't be such a certainty that a fight is really going down because that makes the game too predictable and repetitive.

Imagine if there was an engage champ or a class of engage champ that was focused around choosing if the full blown engage was actually going to occur or if sort of a poke-engage was going to happen. Right. So how would that work in nautilus's case?

Well, first lets consider a scenario with an enemy pantheon off tank whos strategy is to jump on an enemy carry and possibly kill them outright. He is going to lurk on the front line for enemy squishies fairly safely because he built defense and a full blown engage onto him would require too many resources to bode well for the ensuing fight. That's how league typically works right now and that doesn't have to change.

Now, lets consider the allied nautilus. In comparison, naut doesn't have the dmg to kill a carry outright, but he somewhat overlaps with pantheon because he is still an engage style champ with a lockdown gap closer. How can he be differentiated from the pantheon? How can he keep the enemy pantheon at an honest and respectful distance when everyone knows that pantheon is never going to be killed outright, as a carry would, and when nautilus would have to blow his primary engage tool to punish him?

I think it would work beautifully if nautilus, and all true tanks (that is, durable, hard cc toting, engage champions with no capacity to burst down a target) were as I mentioned before: Capable of deciding to perform a full engage or a mini engage. In nautilus's case (maybe in all cases) he could keep the pantheon honest if he was given accelerated cooldowns whenever he had only one ability on cooldown.

It would work like this. The pantheon gets a little disrespectful and lingers too close to the nautilus and his nearby light fighter, so he gets hooked. The light fighter (best example fiora) comes in with the low cooldown mobility and the brief but high dps from her e to physically punish the pantheon and then retreat. A light fighter like fiora is well suited to this because her w makes her impossible for pantheon to engage upon and her mobility allows her to move up, deal dmg, and then retreat before getting poked from the enemy back line. So pantheon is punished, but only moderately and nautilus has his rapidly decaying cooldown ensuring that he soon regains his engage threat.

Clearly, nautilus cannot have a 3 second cooldown on his hook. Fuck that. Hook, root, slow, ult, hook, root. Hell no. Thats a doom bot. However, it would probably be ok if he had that three second cooldown under these conditions! The play pattern would be kind of unique in that it results in these sort of repeated clashes ending that may only happen once or many times before the big kaboom.

It would also open up a more interesting sustain build for other tanks like garen. Who can take a mini engage and then passively regen back to full hp. Warmogs could loose the dmg timer and its heal could scale with current hp, so that lightly bruised garen comes back faster, but bleeding and broken garen needs to visit the fountain.

It also gives a good purpose for a fighter like fiora who is currently faceroll or nada. She and her class of light fighter could synergize with big heavy true tanks who are in turn countered by sustain tanks like garen and builds with warmogs. It would make fights more dynamic than "ok its happening blow everything now". It would keep champions like renekton who really like to aggressively lurk the front lines when fed from lane from facerolling unfairly as they currently do at times and would probably make them easier to balance. It would also make farming easier for a person who has build pure defence. Their abilities come up very quickly when used singly and can be used on minions to farm, therefore. I think this should be playtested.

The main difference between the full tank and a light fighter is that you need like 3 full rotations of skills from everyone to take Nautalis out, maybe he won't even get taken out. Whereas 1 full rotation can take a pantheon out already.

I didn't think panth was a light fighter. I thought he was an offtank or a regular fighter and that fiora was a light fighter. Yasuo is also a light fighter because like fiora he can negate cc with the wind wall. Panth cant do that. He is open to cc. Belongs in a different class..

Anyway that's just a matter of how they build rather than who they are as champions
