I feel like ADCs are due for a base defense increase.
Now hold on there mr "ALL ADCS MUST BURN" this is a good thing.
Even though this is a buff to adcs as a whole, its also a nerf, as well as a nerf to assassins, let me explain.
ADCs are getting exploded, people attribute this to "damage is too high" but mages are actually pretty okay, they just get outshined by assassins right now. Not much a spellslinger can do in an even lane when the assassin roams and gets fed that way. And assassins v assassins are well... assassins v assassins. So mid lane, primarily the 2 "squishy" lanes. Jungle doesnt count, being not a lane, and no one is surprised when a sona or janna lose half their healthbar on a stray knife throw.
So that leaves 1 thing... ADCs are squishy. "Well no duh, they are supposed to be" True, but not too squishy. ADCs being a bit on the weaker end defensively early allows assassins to snowball, because who else are they going to snowball off of in an even lane?
Buffing an ADCs defenses also lowers enemy ADCs damage to eachother in lane, which lowers damage, and possibly prevent kills, further lowering damage.
And even though we arent fully in a tank meta right now, tank metas are described as "when the tank walks up to your adc, and slaps them to death over 10 seconds without losing 1/5th of his hp" And while we arent in this meta right now, giving more damage to adcs against tanks to avoid situations like this causes more damage, when in fact increasing defenses also makes this more manageable as well
A while back Doublelift made a vid stating that competative players want weak champions to be buffed instead of whatever is strong to be gutted, while solo queue is typically the opposite.
But sometimes a buff is also a nerf... which i think Riot lost somewhere within recent seasons.
So yeah, thats my 2 cents on the damage thing right now. I do think the game is WAY better right now than it was for the last.... quite a while. And while there are still outlying issues, like specific champions. At least they are outlying and not quite as all encompassing as it was around 8.10-8.14, and before.
