Out of curiosity, how many of you guys use the meditation mastery when going AP Mid?

I usually have a point or two in it for the regen, but I feel frustrated by that because then I miss out on 2% damage to enemies with low health. But without it I find that mana becomes more of an issue and a hinderance. What are your thoughts on this?

Put it this way

More mana = more poke

more poke = more damage

more mana also = longer sustain

longer sustain= more time to farm

More time to farm + more poke = kill

kill + farm = lots of gold

while that may be true, one could also see it this way where you have more damage you kill more of the ones who barely escape

If you do the math, unless your someone who can do lots of quick burst and lots of autos, for example zed or talon, the bonus you get off of it is not as much as you think it is.

as a semi-regular mid player, i take it depending on the champ or match up. never take meditation on manless champs, but also don't take it if you're building tons of mana or mana regen elsewhere to the point it's negligible early game.

the balance i tend to find is that merciless will help low mana-cost or mana building champs (annie for example with RoA) and meditation helps sustained or repeat damage champs, regardless of mana costs (brand, lux)

however, merciless also amplifies for example brand's burn, so it's good for kill securing.

basically it's preference depending on who you're playing and what you're playing against (I take meditation on alot of people simply so i can spam a little easier)

I run it on champs like Lux or Xerath but not on champs like Fizz, Morg or Kayle.

Nope. It's easier to just manage mana and once you get the mana item you need, it's a complete waster of a mastery slot.
